Dude, we’ve both been here since 2016: getting the first game because Abdallah was playing it, trying to get all the crystal Jibanyans but you couldn’t cause they were too high level, beating Dame Deadtime in the 2nd game feeling like life’s greatest accomplishment… time really does fly.

I said this in stream but i feel like it deserves a repeat. Just like Yokai themselves they change,they evolve, they get different and new all the time. Yokai watch isn't gone its still here just not the same and thats perfect it doesn't need to be the same. Its just as amazing and incredible as it was from the beginning.

Yeah, Level 5 has never been shy to shake up the system of the games: (combat mechanics, story, playable areas, whole new genres of games, ect.) And after the flops of YKW3 and 4 you can’t blame them for trying this overhaul.
I think placing the blame entirely on the consumer for the downfall of the series is a bit weird, it isn't anyone's fault in particular that cause the game sales to die down, that's just what ended up happening. Not *just* because of piracy, but because of a lot of other factors. While it is sad that we'll probably never get the original series back, despair tends to outweigh the positives. The fact that we even have a new game relating to Yo-Kai watch is amazing and a lot of people need to see that, rather than mindlessly hating. Actually very excited for what they have to show off, looking forward to spring!
I would kill for a pokepark. It had so much potential. Like actually going into the worlds. The haunted mansion felt like I was there & the spooky ambience of natural Pokémon. Mannnnn please bring it back but better. Even tho I love the nostalgia,there were plenty of times where it felt soul less or annoying. One such in particular the beach area. Idk but it felt too alone there even surrounded by Pokémon. They need to put more life in it than just background & do ur job
As a person who grew up watching your videos in 2016, as a 5 year old, where I still watch you at 13. I own and love all the games (well I don’t own all of them) as I have all of 1, all of 2, and I digitally bought 3, that 3ds broke, begged my nerd sibling to fix it, 3 years later she walks comes to me with a pirated of ykw3. Which I didn’t wanna play pirated, but I did since how my 3ds broke, there was no return for it. I now own ykw3 in Japanese, all of busters and blasters, including ykw4 and all the medalluims with the 23 mangas. Watching people say my childhood is dead, makes me so upset. As I would love for localization for all the games that weren’t localized, I know it won’t happen. So I will buy HHM no matter what. This series is my pride and joy, i will love it until I die (I now need to stop rambling)

Most of what I've seen online about this game has been negative, and the few things I've seen that haven't are flooded with hate comments. I really didn't think you would make a video on this, and seeing you speak so passionately and open-mindedly was great, you said at lot of things I've been thinking but haven't been able to put into words. so, the green ghosts are called Mononoke the pig is called Butachoki the cat is called Kineko with the Blue Ghosts (they have no name that I can translate), they seem to have different blueprints...as we see - insect-like chimera - bird-like chimera - golem-like chimera - dragon-like chimera but currently have nothing to translate for the pink ghosts

I came in late for the Yo-Kai watch frenzy. I only discovered you when I saw our Ever Oasis playthrough, and I liked your attitude and commentary so much I started going through other playthroughs. This might sound mean spirited and I’m sorry if it does but I baffles me how Level 5 is more interested in making new games and delaying them to infinity than just localizing the games that are already finished. There a 3 Yo-kai Watch games on switch that have yet to be localized after the 5 years it’s been since Yo-kai Watch 3.

@@AbdallahSmash Both arguments fall flat considering they localized YW4 in China not that long ago and even changed some character designs to fit China's cultural expectations. In my opinion, they just didn't see enough speculative profits from localizing YW4 for North America, and they wanted a heavy rebrand for the YW series after YW4's domestic slowdown. Which is unfortunate. ☹️

@@bumble_bbgun Level 5 isn't a big company. You can't expect a small company to dump a bunch of money into a region where projected sales are completely based on a small cult following. There's a reason why they shut down their offices in America, and that's because they weren't making enough money to sustain consistent NA releases of their games. Yo-kai watch as a series is dying too. Both 3 and blasters were sold so poorly in the west that their physical copies have become one of the rarest for collectors. 4 sold extremely poorly for their standards so a soft reboot makes sense. It entices new people to play a new series, and it fufills a similar enough niche to satisfy older fans.
Saw this vid and clicked so fast. I’m in my mid 30s so I’m definitely not a child but I have been watching you since the very beginning of your Yokai journey. I have played along to all the games including the one we used to have on our phones and it’s been a blast. I’ve spent a lot of money on Yokai merch and it’s one of fav games/ series of all time. I’m very passionate about Yokai Watch and it makes me so sad to learn we didn’t get the latest game due to piracy. I just really hope that level 5 doesn’t take all the negativity people are giving it right now to heart. That could discourage them and then we wouldn’t get anything new at all. So sad! Yeah. I’m one of the guys that actually did his work, and bought all the games. I even went so far as to smuggle the anime’s tenth ending into US borders, so people could watch outside of Japan.
If this gets released in the U.S., they should release it during Halloween (since this game has ghosts). And Level-5 (and maybe Nintendo?) should host a trick-or-treat party (you can get both official merch and candy as well as have your picture taken with the cat and pig mascots).
For anyone wondering why something like this is happening or why this isn’t 5 is because Yokai watch is basically brand poison now. I LOVE yokai watch but I get it, the amount of games that came out between 1-4 in just a few years was absurd, and because of that the pubic for Yokai watch got exhausted and moved away and sales for the franchise became extremely low.
@@xxmension04xx47 doubt it. Games were doing bad after 3. 4 and 1remake bombed so localizing 4 wouldn’t have changed anything. Besides Level 5 shut down their western branch solely because of poor sales in the west.
I think if they make the right moves in advertising a big comeback for Yo-Kai Watch, it could become a massive success globally. Play into the nostalgia a bit. The people crave Yo-Kai and HHM just won't cut it.

Im optimistic about this game honestly, ive seen people on tumblr who are kinda hating because its not ykw 5. Which like, yeah, i wouldve been more excited for yokai watch 5 but im also excited to see them do something new, the new mechanics look really fun too (i hope the fusion is a more central mechanic this time 🤞 i felt it was underutilized in ykw)

It did say "Pumpkins" in Japanese. - Although it's not in Kanji but his name Ten might means heaven referring to where the family live in that mansion.. the highest place. Thus the name Ten Landlord. In Japanese it's Ooya Ten. Ooya in Japanese also means Mansion or Rich Family, which I find much suiting than Landlord. So as silly as it is, his name could mean the mansion highest floor.. that's a guess though, not a real translation. - Level-5 were open to translate the other games into English and Fantasy Life i to 9 languages at release, and since they went "Ghost" rather than "Yokai" this time, it means they are aiming at western market. So an English release is very probable. - Last, a question: Do you take sharing medal QR as piracy?

I'm of the older generation, played Yokai Watch already as an adult, and I really don't get the fuss over Holy Horror Mansion (hopefully the title will be tweaked before English release) not being YW5. Imagine if the Shin Megami Tensei series stuck with formula of the first game. There wouldn't be Persona, Devil Survivor, DemiKids, Raido Kuzunoha etc. If anything, Level-5 being open to experimentation is the main reason YW got so many games in the first place.
I wonder if they are taking a page from pokemon where it’s Yo Kai Watch but in another region so to speak. Instead of the traditional watch you find an old camera (which might have been used before Yo Kai watches were made). The green ghosts could be the usual Yo Kai spirits and the Blue are a new type of Yo Kai and the red are similar to gates but instead of being random it’s always a dungeon.

At first, I was so excited for this. I thought it was fun and had the same kind of charm that the 3DS YKW games had! But when I started looking closer, the backgrounds in the cutscenes(?) have noticeable mistakes in them that REEK of AI. Say what you will about AI, but I, as an art major and creative, AI in all of its forms that act as artists, writers, singers, actors, etc. is a parasite in every art-related industry. It takes already existing things that humans crafted and slaps bits and pieces of them into a jumbled puzzle of sorts. These backgrounds are literally distorted amalgamations of countless other peoples' work. I've loved YKW since I was a child and always drew my favorite Yo-kai, so to see Level-5 using the very "tool" that goes against my passion and work (that YKW inspired) makes me incredibly upset. I honestly don't think I've ever been this disappointed over a game trailer in my life.
Unfortunately it seems that you are right about your speculation of them using AI for the trailer backgrounds. While I can’t really measure the extent of AI usage in the trailer, what really sold me on the idea was the proportions of the roads seen in the trailer are beyond messed up in a way that only an AI could have messed it up, not to mention that a lot of background items in the trailer just look off. Its such a shame because I was honestly looking forward to a proper revival for the franchise. To see the franchise I grew up with be replaced by soulless AI generated backgrounds is just disheartening.
@@Bruhmoment-vr8fq It seems to be just backgrounds, but it is possible that the Yo-kai/ghosts in the trailer could have been made with genAI too unfortunately, but there's no confirmation on that. There is hope thankfully! It's possible that Level-5 didn't have the time to make backgrounds for the trailer in time for the Vision, so the team cheaped out and threw in some AI images in place. With the game being in early development and (HOPEFULLY) getting a lot of time in the oven, we could see the game with actual human made backgrounds at some point! That's all speculation though. I will say that it's extremely embarrassing on their part to just throw in clearly generated images for backgrounds (and awkwardly superimposing 3D models over them too) in a game trailer without saying anything about it.
i wouldn't worry about it personally (or at least for now), how I see it is the company might've used AI temporarily for the visuals, considering this game is in SUPER early development it is most definitely just placeholder. can't be too sure though. also this is not the official game trailer! not even close.

It's not the popularity that causes the price point its that they barely made more copies then they had pre-orders so it goes for a lot because of the rarity regardless of the popularity

Well I have to say, this brings back more nostalgia than anger. I am married with a baby boy now and have a lot more to worry about than what direction Level 5 is taking Yo-kai Watch haha. Yo-kai Watch is still here, this game just lives and breathes Yo-kai Watch. I can’t wait to see where it goes and to see you play it Abdallah! It certainly has been a long time and I have been busy with life, but this really takes me back!
I loved the series since day 1. It was a good thing that people were calling it a Pokemon clone because that got me to pre-order the first game and since then I was hooked! I remember picking up my physical copy of YW3 from Gamestop and being the only person who pre-ordered it, going to see the movie when it was in theaters and getting the special coin that came with it, and then finding your lets play after I'd beaten the games and realizing there was so much content I missed out on and replayed them right along with you. I'm just happy Level 5 is back and look forward to where they'll take this new concept.

The most justified crash out at the end. Abdullah speaking straight facts about how pirates (dumb kids) was the reason why YKW4 didn't get localized. Imma be real I've watched Abdullah's YKW vids and live streams when I was in middle school and now I'm about to get my associates. So to see him talk about how we're different and how kids are different now than they were 10 years ago really puts it all into perspective. I'm so glad he's still making videos and still passionate about YKW.

The names of the dances aren't the ghost type names(I think they're just named their colors) their the name of the artist's who are doing the dance 13:32 if you look at the blueprints it appears you need to fit general shapes but with what you fill the shapes is up to you(I'm pretty sure the apple ghost object and the gourd it goes next to are actually following the same blueprint just using different objects) Level-5 is saying that this is a ghost craft RPG using ghost craft as part of the genre name and I think if they're so confident in this mechanic to put it as part of the genre name then we best bet their going to try to flesh it out as much as possible
it could be in the same universe and maybe one of the tenants has a yo-kai watch. maybe you even team up with them. I believe Japanese mythology has both ghosts and yo-kai it might even have spirits as a distinct type of paranormal activity. I’m not entirely sure. (I might have spelt. yo-kai wrong my apologies if I have)
I still watch the those yo kai watch videos to today especially yo kai watch three cause its the only main line yo kai watch game besides bony spirits and psychic specters that I don't have on my 3ds. Its so amazing to see yo kai watch starting to make a big come back and I love it. Yo-Kai Watch was my whole entire childhood and I miss it.
11:50 I don't think the names that stand by the dancers are the names of the ghost, they are just introducing the dancer/dance groups. Pikotaro is the name of the comedian (the dancer) on screen/the one that made pen pineapple apple pen. So it is reasonable to assume that the other one's are the names of the respective dancer(group) as well.
From what I know, which is what most people know, I think that it would be amazing if somehow, whisper is that first ghost you meet. Also, robonyan would be a perfect yokai to see in the game.

As I would love for localization for all the games that weren’t localized, I know it won’t happen. So I will buy HHM no matter what. with the Blue Ghosts (they have no name that I can translate), they seem to have different blueprints...as we see

but currently have nothing to translate for the pink ghosts

I came in late for the Yo-Kai watch frenzy. I only discovered you when I saw our Ever Oasis playthrough, and I liked your attitude and commentary so much I started going through other playthroughs. It's actually because of you that I got into Yo-Kai watch, and I am sad I missed so much of it. This might sound mean spirited and I’m sorry if it does but I baffles me how Level 5 is more interested in making new games and delaying them to infinity than just localizing the games that are already finished. There a 3 Yo-kai Watch games on switch that have yet to be localized after the 5 years it’s been since Yo-kai Watch 3.
You're definitely not wrong. It takes development dollars to port and market older games and their priorities just aren't in that department.

@@AbdallahSmash Both arguments fall flat considering they localized YW4 in China not that long ago and even changed some character designs to fit China's cultural expectations.
In my opinion, they just didn't see enough speculative profits from localizing YW4 for North America, and they wanted a heavy rebrand for the YW series after YW4's domestic slowdown. Which is unfortunate. ☹️

@@bumble_bbgun Level 5 isn't a big company. You can't expect a small company to dump a bunch of money into a region where projected sales are completely based on a small cult following. There's a reason why they shut down their offices in America, and that's because they weren't making enough money to sustain consistent NA releases of their games. Yo-kai watch as a series is dying too. Both 3 and blasters were sold so poorly in the west that their physical copies have become one of the rarest for collectors. 4 sold extremely poorly for their standards so a soft reboot makes sense. It entices new people to play a new series, and it fufills a similar enough niche to satisfy older fans.

Saw this vid and clicked so fast. I’m in my mid 30s so I’m definitely not a child but I have been watching you since the very beginning of your Yokai journey. I have played along to all the games including the one we used to have on our phones and it’s been a blast. I’ve spent a lot of money on Yokai merch and it’s one of fav games/ series of all time. I’m very passionate about Yokai Watch and it makes me so sad to learn we didn’t get the latest game due to piracy. I just really hope that level 5 doesn’t take all the negativity people are giving it right now to heart. That could discourage them and then we wouldn’t get anything new at all. So sad! I will always support!❤

Yeah. I’m one of the guys that actually did his work, and bought all the games. I even went so far as to smuggle the anime’s tenth ending into US borders, so people could watch outside of Japan.

For anyone wondering why something like this is happening or why this isn’t 5 is because Yokai watch is basically brand poison now. I LOVE yokai watch but I get it, the amount of games that came out between 1-4 in just a few years was absurd, and because of that the pubic for Yokai watch got exhausted and moved away and sales for the franchise became extremely low.
I think the decrease in sales for the franchise also is contributed to the lack of localization of the 4th game
@@xxmension04xx47 doubt it. Games were doing bad after 3. 4 and 1remake bombed so localizing 4 wouldn’t have changed anything. Besides Level 5 shut down their western branch solely because of poor sales in the west.

Im optimistic about this game honestly, ive seen people on tumblr who are kinda hating because its not ykw 5. - No, the localization team did not miss that. It did say "Pumpkins" in Japanese.
- Although it's not in Kanji but his name Ten might means heaven referring to where the family live in that mansion.. the highest place. Thus the name Ten Landlord. In Japanese it's Ooya Ten. Ooya in Japanese also means Mansion or Rich Family, which I find much suiting than Landlord. So as silly as it is, his name could mean the mansion highest floor.. that's a guess though, not a real translation.
- Level-5 were open to translate the other games into English and Fantasy Life i to 9 languages at release, and since they went "Ghost" rather than "Yokai" this time, it means they are aiming at western market. So an English release is very probable.
- Last, a question: Do you take sharing medal QR as piracy?

I'm of the older generation, played Yokai Watch already as an adult, and I really don't get the fuss over Holy Horror Mansion (hopefully the title will be tweaked before English release) not being YW5. Imagine if the Shin Megami Tensei series stuck with formula of the first game. There wouldn't be Persona, Devil Survivor, DemiKids, Raido Kuzunoha etc. If anything, Level-5 being open to experimentation is the main reason YW got so many games in the first place.

I wonder if they are taking a page from pokemon where it’s Yo Kai Watch but in another region so to speak. Instead of the traditional watch you find an old camera (which might have been used before Yo Kai watches were made). The green ghosts could be the usual Yo Kai spirits and the Blue are a new type of Yo Kai and the red are similar to gates but instead of being random it’s always a dungeon.

At first, I was so excited for this. I thought it was fun and had the same kind of charm that the 3DS YKW games had! But when I started looking closer, the backgrounds in the cutscenes(?) have noticeable mistakes in them that REEK of AI. Say what you will about AI, but I, as an art major and creative, AI in all of its forms that act as artists, writers, singers, actors, etc. is a parasite in every art-related industry. It takes already existing things that humans crafted and slaps bits and pieces of them into a jumbled puzzle of sorts. These backgrounds are literally distorted amalgamations of countless other peoples' work. I've loved YKW since I was a child and always drew my favorite Yo-kai, so to see Level-5 using the very "tool" that goes against my passion and work (that YKW inspired) makes me incredibly upset. I honestly don't think I've ever been this disappointed over a game trailer in my life.
Unfortunately it seems that you are right about your speculation of them using AI for the trailer backgrounds. While I can’t really measure the extent of AI usage in the trailer, what really sold me on the idea was the proportions of the roads seen in the trailer are beyond messed up in a way that only an AI could have messed it up, not to mention that a lot of background items in the trailer just look off. Its such a shame because I was honestly looking forward to a proper revival for the franchise. To see the franchise I grew up with be replaced by soulless AI generated backgrounds is just disheartening.
@@Bruhmoment-vr8fq It seems to be just backgrounds, but it is possible that the Yo-kai/ghosts in the trailer could have been made with genAI too unfortunately, but there's no confirmation on that. There is hope thankfully! It's possible that Level-5 didn't have the time to make backgrounds for the trailer in time for the Vision, so the team cheaped out and threw in some AI images in place. With the game being in early development and (HOPEFULLY) getting a lot of time in the oven, we could see the game with actual human made backgrounds at some point! That's all speculation though. I will say that it's extremely embarrassing on their part to just throw in clearly generated images for backgrounds (and awkwardly superimposing 3D models over them too) in a game trailer without saying anything about it.
i wouldn't worry about it personally (or at least for now), how I see it is the company might've used AI temporarily for the visuals, considering this game is in SUPER early development it is most definitely just placeholder. can't be too sure though. also this is not the official game trailer! not even close.
I think this will be like Unova, people will get mad for being a reboot of the series, but at the end we'll look at this game back

It's not the popularity that causes the price point its that they barely made more copies then they had pre-orders so it goes for a lot because of the rarity regardless of the popularity

Well I have to say, this brings back more nostalgia than anger. I am married with a baby boy now and have a lot more to worry about than what direction Level 5 is taking Yo-kai Watch haha. Yo-kai Watch is still here, this game just lives and breathes Yo-kai Watch. I can’t wait to see where it goes and to see you play it Abdallah! It certainly has been a long time and I have been busy with life, but this really takes me back!
I loved the series since day 1. It was a good thing that people were calling it a Pokemon clone because that got me to pre-order the first game and since then I was hooked! I remember picking up my physical copy of YW3 from Gamestop and being the only person who pre-ordered it, going to see the movie when it was in theaters and getting the special coin that came with it, and then finding your lets play after I'd beaten the games and realizing there was so much content I missed out on and replayed them right along with you.
I'm just happy Level 5 is back and look forward to where they'll take this new concept.

The names of the dances aren't the ghost type names(I think they're just named their colors) their the name of the artist's who are doing the dance
13:32 if you look at the blueprints it appears you need to fit general shapes but with what you fill the shapes is up to you(I'm pretty sure the apple ghost object and the gourd it goes next to are actually following the same blueprint just using different objects) Level-5 is saying that this is a ghost craft RPG using ghost craft as part of the genre name and I think if they're so confident in this mechanic to put it as part of the genre name then we best bet their going to try to flesh it out as much as possible

it could be in the same universe and maybe one of the tenants has a yo-kai watch. maybe you even team up with them. I believe Japanese mythology has both ghosts and yo-kai it might even have spirits as a distinct type of paranormal activity. I’m not entirely sure. I still watch the those yo kai watch videos to today especially yo kai watch three cause its the only main line yo kai watch game besides bony spirits and psychic specters that I don't have on my 3ds. Its so amazing to see yo kai watch starting to make a big come back and I love it. Yo-Kai Watch was my whole entire childhood and I miss it.
11:50 I don't think the names that stand by the dancers are the names of the ghost, they are just introducing the dancer/dance groups. Pikotaro is the name of the comedian (the dancer) on screen/the one that made pen pineapple apple pen. So it is reasonable to assume that the other one's are the names of the respective dancer(group) as well.
From what I know, which is what most people know, I think that it would be amazing if somehow, whisper is that first ghost you meet.
Also, robonyan would be a perfect yokai to see in the game.

Thank you so much for clarifying that yo Kai watch is not dead- it’s kinda exhausting and disappointing to see how many people are mad on twitter because instead of a new yo Kai watch game or English release of one of the previous games it’s a new game. I get the frustration but let Level 5 experiment or try something new with their games(let’s be more open minded).If it were one of the older games being released with eng, the quality wouldn’t be as good as other games nowadays and the animation is much older. I’d much rather a new game with much higher quality like Holy Horror Mansion. I can’t wait to see and possibly play this new game, this is so exciting!!! The labyrinth reminds me of persona or rain code which I absolutely love!
