As a massive fan of The Smiths I found it so cool hearing Well InWonder in the opening of movie, like oh cool a big name director using a Smiths song that’s so rare and cool! Til overtime I was like ‘oh my god, it’s not a one off all this guy does is listen to Smiths; incredible’

In the film, it seems like The KIller likes the Smiths when he is in his anti-social self, with his own set of rules, a killer (he's flash boys, yeah) ..The killer is the ultimate outsider. In this state, he has to be somewhat closed off, his life and his rules come first..
I wonder if he still listened to The Smiths when he gave up being a killer and decided to live with someone else.?
I don't think so...
In some ways, it could be said the killer with his purest views, is a symbol for a teenager self ...and Smiths music is the ultimate version of that.
