I always wondered if they felt the same sense of freedom we do when we're Outside with no fences......good stuff Pat, you made it look easy.....and Deb, you made riding AND Filming look easy as well.....what a TRUELY GREAT TEAM ! ! ! .....OnWard....
This video has to rank at the top of any on the channel. To be able to view the action of Chinaco from the air gave a whole new perspective as to what he was doing and how Pat controlled him. Kudos to the drone pilot for being able to ride and operate the drone at the same time. The second ride being done outside rather than a few more sessions in the roundpen is amazing. Have not seen that with the other trainers. I also appreciate Pat's historical vignettes like this one about the Old Spanish Trail. Your dogs missed the jackrabbit at 6:45 . THANK YOU TWO SO MUCH FOR THE INSTRUCTIONAL VIDEOS! Helps to relieve some of the stress of the pandemic blues.
Circa 1990, I knew a guy who ALWAYS took the horse on the 'outside' ride the day after its first ride. Now a days it is too hard to find a trainer worth their salt. Oh how I wish for those good old days again!
Always have and always will say, the horse gets his confidence from the rider! I said the same thing a few seconds before Deb, NOW THAT'S PRETTY! 😊 Thanks for sharing and take care. 👍 👍
Thank you so much for making your videos! I recently purchased a stock trailer and have been doubting my decision but your videos show me its possible and safe with the right prep.
Busy first ride avoiding the scary brush monsters. I applaud you Pat, and so happy there was no bucking you off, Chinaco seems so kind hearted, and with your training he will make a great mount in the future! Deb you do awesome drone work, and a great rider as well, so glad Pat is keeping you on the payroll. Thank you
Well ... "Isn't this exciting?" Thank you, Pat, for showing me that an old hand like yourself experiences the same things with a young horse when going outside for the first few times that a beginner like myself does. "I don't wanna go there!" "What's that scary thing over there?" Yeah. They are a lot of fun, especially when everyone comes home safe and in one piece. Safe travels to the both of you and thanks for this video.
This video brought back so many happy memories of my teen years in So. Calif. breaking wobbly babies "on" the sage filled river flats. It is a soft landing, when necessary. LOL. Thank you for all your history lessons, as well. I teach business coursework now, so having some historical lessons as to how things were done is always helpful when explaining the more things change, the more they stay the same.
Wow! Brought tuff greatful tears to our eyes! Just like my GrandDad, who broke wild mustangs. Thank you Pat and Deb! God bless you both, and all that God chooses, to give you Stuartship over! Great admiration , from the Lamb Family! 👌😎🐴🇺🇸✝️
The video production was very good and the use of the drone gave a great perspective of the Chinaco's ride outside. Pretty to watch and easy to pick up on the changes. You've done very well. Its been a pleasure to follow the journey. Thank you for sharing. love your work.
Well done! Loved the shot where he was a little bothered and you Brought him around until he softened, then you just let him think for a spell. That sand looks a great deal softer than our hard crusted snow up here. Once again, teach for living where people shouldn't.
Once again a great video. Deb, you are a champ riding and droning. Pat, I love your history lessons, as well as the horse lessons. So nice to see that young colt get a nice ride, just learning to move on with no fuss from the rider. Total enjoyment to watch.
Deb, you must be an early riser....I live in mountain time and im able to watch your video with my first cup of coffee well before the sun rises....thank again for the videos.
I just got lot of repect for you sir even I dont know you... Hope to be active and strong like you are when I get to your age.. Wad living in the city and move to rural to enjoy the old times way of life.. I have my two boy into learning how to ride horses, and they love it..
Every time I watch i get more excited about learning and riding my own horse. I am still green and he is young but we are getting better everyday. I was just able to finish getting a round pen set up so can't wait to start working the ground work and rope work I have seen on this channel and the video of Pats i bought. Thank you again for sharing.
I started watching 2 years ago after one of Pat;s clinics for information. Deb is getting so good at filming and cinematography now I just repeat the video for the raw beauty. Thanks to both of you!
I am enjoying your rides! I know the feeling well and am thrilled for you!!! Certain bloodlines of the Morgans are tougher to start. They can have a temper but he is right, once you get past that you have a horse for a lifetime! We make an effort to combine the tough and easy bloodlines for an easier horse all around.
Fabulous first ride outside! I totally get how this works for starting colts. Chinaco has had a lot to process in the last 24 or so hours. Thanks for taking us along and Deb you really got the drone action mastered. The lope segment put tears in my eyes. Such a beautiful sight with Pat and Chinaco loping along. (Had a chuckle and a thumbs up for the subtle bumper sticker on your trailer.! exactly! ) Thank you for sharing this joyous day!
LOL.... I know it won't go on forever, but it IS funny watching Pat trying to get Chinaco to Zag, and he Zigs, then trying to get him to Zig, and he Zags! Thank goodness no rattlers slithered in front of him! Oh Boy! That horse does have a temper... hehe... I do believe he's been a bit spoiled ;-) (Chinaco makes me think of the Saturday morning cartoon of the bull trained for the bullfighting ring, and all the bull wants to do is smell the flowers... lol) ... Poor Chinaco! He's a good boy.
Nice job! Years ago at Turf Paradise Racetrack the exercise riders and trainers would start colts in a stall at the track , after regular training hours ,(before everything had to be insured), They would have them out of the stall heading to the back gate and we all would ride those babies out in the desert and washes. It was so much fun. Now it's all built up and gone..
Ever since I hunted in the mountains north of Santa Fe I've been enamored with the old Spanish trail. Especially the way up into Colorado through the Valley Vidal into the San Luis Valley. Finding Water in the Rio Grande was tough because of the Cliffs along there. You have to look for the feeder streams coming from the mountain to the east in some stretches.
Pat really is the whole package in terms of a horseman. Knows his animals, knows is tack, knows the history behind why/how things are done. Do you offer clinics or plan to in 2021? I would love to see his methods in person some day!
I agree, Deb has her hands full. Good work all the way round. This, I need to do with my mule UC 😬. Need to get access to the river bottom. Once things dry out, and water pulls back. 🇺🇸
Do you ever intentionally get off the horse on the first ride outside away from the trailer? Learning so much from these Chinaco videos! Thank you! Denver.
I like your area to start an iffy horse in, soft ground incase you hit it, our trails are rock lined, not much sand. He had a good workout, sweating and breathing hard at the end. A few more rides like that and he'll be golden. I do wonder also if the drone was bothering him?
Your videos are the best for info around . I see some of these horse people unloading their horses backing out . Seems like a good way to skin up their hind shins , am I wrong ?
a lot of weavin and bobin going on out there but you got it done.. Deb, are you running that drone while you're riding? That's pretty good multi-tasking..
It is a quirt. We use it on any horse ridden in a snaffle or bosal so that your rein hand is forward as you encourage your horse to go forward with the quirt. People who use the end of their mecate or end of their reins usually give mixed messages by pulling back on the reins while they use the mecate. You’re also able to use the quirt faster rather than looking around for the end of the mecate.
Hi Pat. Now that you're started, how many days will you ride Chinaco before you give him a rest day? Is he barefoot at this time? I usually like to allow the hooves to strengthen early on and harden
@@PatnDebPuckett Some Texans still refer to NM east of the Rio Grande as Greater Texas, tongue in cheek. That part of what is now New Mexico east of the Rio Grande was traded by Texas to the US in return for assuming the embarrassing debts Texas incurred funding railroads across the state when Texas was admitted into the Union.
I was wondering if anyone would comment on that sticker. Not being of the Trump persuasion myself I had to click off the video when I noticed it yesterday --- to process that. Still haven't [processed it].
Deb has alot to do today! Riding the good anchor horse to help Pat out, and keeping the drone in frame. I'd say she's on the payroll still!
Looking great guys! Thanks for the visit.
Deb having done the whole fly/ride thing, I’m impressed.
Great ride Pat. I would have loved to learn from you in person when I was younger. I could listen to your stories for days!

Professional overhead photography! Amazing to watch this ride!
Pure joy, helping a young horse become a willing useful addition to society. Admirable!

Good work

Where are you located?
Idaho!
That was such fun music and fun to watch! Was Ms Deb controlling the drone? Is there anything she can't do? 🎯💥💕
Wow! A drone!
True horse wanna be people, this is heaven in action! 😎👍🏻🇺🇸
beautiful
AMAZING!!! GREAT JOB
Deb is getting pretty darn good with that drone... :)
Hi, Pat & Deb.. Chinaco has a big head and ears.. A different breed of horse .. But I liked it, very innocent ..
Idk about that, but you neglected to mention his most stunning features. His soft eyes and his amazing color. Chinaco is Andalusian/Lusitano.
I agree, Deb has her hands full. Good work all the way round. This, I need to do with my mule UC 😬. Need to get access to the river bottom. Once things dry out, and water pulls back. 🇺🇸
Pat looks like he just left the local watering hole. 🍻 That start is all over the place.
Beautiful

He’s pretty accustomed to drones flying around and didn’t seem to notice it.

We prefer to turn our horses around and lead them out but our trailer is wide enough to do that.
What a great place for a first outside ride. Seems like he was a bit troubled by the drone.
VERY GOOD!!!!!!
LOOK AT THAT!
Teach me... my wallet is yours!!! Love your videos!
What types of dogs are yourdogs? Thank you for the videos, I use the roping mathods on aggresive dogs in isreal😁
a lot of weavin and bobin going on out there but you got it done.. Deb, are you running that drone while you're riding? That's pretty good multi-tasking..

Hi it Clark from colorado . I really enjoy your little bits of history . Is there one book you could recommend on the Spanish Trail ? Thanks
Your drone set up, is that the one where you put the remote in your pocket and it follows you?

yee haw!
wow what a place to ride!!! stunning. I hope you had a good hot bath and a back rub after that.
