For those that don't understand Japanese, this song is about "kakurenbo", the Japanese version of hide-and-seek. Except they are playing it with an Oni (a mythical creature that usually gets translated as *demon*). You hear the Oni say "mo ikai" (are you ready) and the girls reply "mada da yo" (not yet) which is kakurenbo's version "ready or not here I come". They are playfully teasing and toying with the Oni by running from it (represented by the signature dance) and saying "oni-san kochira" (this way Mr. Oni) and "te no naru ho e" (follow my clapping).
Not sure if anyone else has said this but the bassist's solo was legitimately fantastic. All the solos were good, but his really stood out, it's also just great to see a bassist given the opportunity to solo in general.

If you knew anything about the idol culture in Japan, you'd realize that they knew for sure it would work, but they probably didn't expect it would take off into the rest of the world the way it did. Usually the idol "product" is for the internal consumption.

This is the best video to introduce someone to Babymetal because the girls don't appear right away. My experience with trying to show Babymetal to new people is that they immediately disregard them because of the girls, and in this video you get to meet the other members first.
Kami Band are really insane, but those girls are professional too, even very professional at their age, like how they handle every situation when live performance, combination Kami Band and Sakura Gakuin very impressive, and RIP Fujioka Mikio
Great job to whoever edited this video. The transitions from one concert scene to another was flawless, watching the performance and seeing the band on different stages, was excellent.

I can only imagine the amount of rehearsals they must go through for every show. A friend of mine sent me this video as he knows I have eclectic taste in music. Cannot thank him enough. EDIT: So I have learned quite a bit about this group and, as impressed as I was with this band before, I am in awe of them now. I saw an interview they did from 2020 where they gave their ages. The singer was 17 and the two other girls were 16 at that time. So, if the date is right on this video, THEY WERE 13 AND 14 YEARS OLD WHEN THEY DID THIS TOUR. I am incredibly impressed with the raw talent and work ethic of these performers. Just amazing.

They are so addictive to watch cant understand to many of the words but never get burned out listening to them. The whole band is great. Who ever produced this group is a genius .
When you first glance at the band and the singers you're like, "PSH, this can't work." And then you listen to it and are all like, "This is mega awesome and couldn't work any other way."
I've always considered this their signature song and performance from when they were young. Going back and forth from heavy metal to a cute kid's pop song is their trademark. Their music live on a CD is great but it's 50% or more visual so it's only after watching the Kami Band and the kid's amazing energetic choreography can you really fully appreciate it. The video is running in my head as I listen to there live CDs.
I'm really not into this kind of fast metal music, so when it crossed my path I was not really putting my ears to the wall. Then I seen these little kids dancing and said "aww that's cute". Then I heard the melodic choruses and got really confused and thought WFT? Melodic speed metal, dancing and a stage show,..I mean, who the hell thought of this? After listening to it for a while I had another revelation, the songs are actually good! So big thumbs up to BabyMetal for creating something new.
I've listened to the hardest metal and thrash for decades....how do the Japanese find a way to make hardcore metal / thrash / death / grindcore cute?!! I'm hooked!
The shows are electrifying and beyond words really. It was a shame about Yui's fall. if the fall had anything to do with her departure, its clear she mistimed a move in an intense laser light. Such an accident could have been more dangerous. Yui shouldn't have been so near to such lighting whilst playing IMO. If they are having such intense light shows in arenas they should maybe wear eye protection. The combination of the fast dances and lighting could lead to problems. On a similar note, some of you may recall when James Hetfield got badly burnt during a pyrotechnics accident on stage. It would be good to see Yui return to baby metal at some point.
@@lilykil6228 it's not as bad as it sounds but I saw an amateur video of her falling into a very bright upward facing flash light. Such a thing over time could induce epilepsy. Yui is well though at least and writing and performing much of her own music. She has a few albums out already I think. Just type Yui falls in search bar and hopefully you can see. Tip - it's better to slow video to 1/4 speed.

The people who bash on this shit really aren't paying attention, that guitar and drum work is on par with most metal bands out there.

It's certainly not everyone's cup of tea, but you can't say they are doing something wrong or that they are bad (not implying you did that).

I've always considered this their signature song and performance from when they were young. Going back and forth from heavy metal to a cute kid's pop song is their trademark. Their music live on a CD is great but it's 50% or more visual so it's only after watching the Kami Band and the kid's amazing energetic choreography can you really fully appreciate it. The video is running in my head as I listen to there live CDs.
I didn't understand a single word or gesture and that was amazing.

I'm really not into this kind of fast metal music, so when it crossed my path I was not really putting my ears to the wall. Then I seen these little kids dancing and said "aww that's cute". Then I heard the melodic choruses and got really confused and thought WFT? Melodic speed metal, dancing and a stage show,..I mean, who the hell thought of this? After listening to it for a while I had another revelation, the songs are actually good! So big thumbs up to BabyMetal for creating something new.

The shows are electrifying and beyond words really. It was a shame about Yui's fall. if the fall had anything to do with her departure, its clear she mistimed a move in an intense laser light. Such an accident could have been more dangerous. Yui shouldn't have been so near to such lighting whilst playing IMO. If they are having such intense light shows in arenas they should maybe wear eye protection. The combination of the fast dances and lighting could lead to problems. On a similar note, some of you may recall when James Hetfield got badly burnt during a pyrotechnics accident on stage. It would be good to see Yui return to baby metal at some point.

@@lilykil6228 it's not as bad as it sounds but I saw an amateur video of her falling into a very bright upward facing flash light. Such a thing over time could induce epilepsy. Yui is well though at least and writing and performing much of her own music. She has a few albums out already I think. Just type Yui falls in search bar and hopefully you can see. Tip - it's better to slow video to 1/4 speed.
