On Grace Wales Bonner, I believe we should keep in mind what she is going for and who are target audience is. I once read that she described her target audience were people over 40. In that regard, I wonder what we envision by ‘Experimental’. As Ayó said, her shoes are underrated and quite experimental in my opinion. Wales Bonner is actually one of the very few that is ‘experimenting’ within the boundaries of these inspiration points and for these age groups while still maintaining a certain timelessness and elegance to her collections that I believe her target audience demand. Even her partnership with Anderson & Sheppard suggest this focus as well. Experimental to me is Martine Rose and she does a fantastic job. And while I love Martine’s work, I’d choose Bonner because it aligns with my styling and taste. Not every man seeks boundary pushing clothes in that way.
Unrelated but Oscar de la renta Did a behind the scenes hour long documentary of the process creating a pre-fall collection. It might be an interesting topic for a video or live stream watch. Any look behind the curtain of design process is always good information for ppl interested in fashion
