I like Disturbed’s newer sound. Yeah, I love their old stuff too, but I like how they have managed to always sound different-ish but still feel the same. If that makes any sense

The difference is David is making music while being genuinely happy. He released all his demons in his earlier work. So of course the darkness is really dimishing but he still manages to stay intense and present and very relevant.

the first time i heard him talk was a concert, had never seen his face before, and only heard him singing. i was very surprised hearing his normal talking voice and then switching over to how he sings. didnt even think it was the same dude at first.

He's a great vocalist but man that's reaching for the stars with that comparison, there are so many more talented than him. Just off the top of my head Russell Allen of Symphony X comes to mind. His range is unbelievable and he can sing literally anything.

What was Sound Of Silence? still love Disturbed and do not care that people think lack of heaviness vs record sales determines weather a band has sold out. Bands change styles get over it, You can always move on if they no longer stick to a sound they played in the early 2000's. I mean listen to Shinedowns new album are you going to say they sold out too. What about Black Stone cherry changing to more blues sound? Just because songs are more accessible does not make them sell outs. You ask disturbed what their influences are and they are not going to tell you it is a bunch of early 2000's nu metal / hard rock crossover bands. An actor can change what style of films they do so why can a band not?

@@fenderg1988 Lack of heaviness combined with a spike in sales IS selling out. The reason they changed is to MAKE themselves more accessible and thereby earn more money! Shinedown absolutely sold out on the last two albums making very simple songs that aren't too heavy and are easy to market.
An actor and musician have fuck-all in common. An actor is a person playing a role, and they choose whatever role they like best or think they are suited for. A band, especially a metal band, is much more personal. The artist has to create their own material, and abandoning the hard rock genre for some mallcore trash is selling out. I don't expect a mainstream music fan to understand that particularly well.
Disturbed has always been my favorite band!
