They’re also a huge inspiration as a craftsman and a person who really values reducing waste and making use of what you have access to. Wow! I guess none of us are immuned. I have had two shop accidents that shocked me.. Only one of them that really inconvenienced me for a longer period of time.
Wearing a pair of the thin mechanics gloves and a spade bit on a drill press that taught me a good lesson, but, little damage more than my pride.
But, I let the table saw grab my thumb and one finger. Chewed the thumb up pretty good, but, just chewed the meat off of the fingerprint area. Could have been a lot worse. But, took a month before I could go without a bandage. But, some paper towels and black electrical tape and I finished the job.. Ha..Ha.. My girlfriend was in shock and freaking out.. Ha.. I went to the sink to see how bad is was.. Oh heck, that is going to take a while to heal, wrapped it up and went back to finish.. She just could not understand.. Ha..ha...
I have NO IDEA What I actually did, but, I was talking and being distracted... But, I think I drug my hand over the blade without lifting it high enough. I remember hearing the tune of the saw change, felt my thumb get jerked down, felt the vibration, and looked down to see if I was bleeding, which I saw the trail down the table saw.. I wiped it up first, and went inside to see how bad it was... I figured I was the only one that wasn't paying attention like I should. You are not alone.. But, 61 years and only two good accidents?? Not too bad.. Been braised by a 4" Angle grinder a few times, but, usually cauterizes the wound, so, just keep going.
The one tool that really scares me is a 4" Angle Grinder with a good large Braided Wire Wheel. It is really going to hurt if you ever let that get caught in a shirt/apron or something. Cross my fingers.. That is one that I will stop and zip up, etc.
Nice to have a voice to put with the face. Get well my friend.. Looking forward to seeing you back in the shop.. I have watched every video you have put out since you started.. This one I missed due to being busy, but, I always catch what I miss. Didn't know about your accident. Glad to hear you are going to be Ok... Take Care.. Get your Wife to come out and say hello sometime! Would be nice to know the Misses!!

Thoroughly enjoy watching your videos, find them really theraputic and inspirational! - Are you a cabinet maker by trade?
I've worked in technology most of my life and have recently moved with my wife to our forever home where we I have a big 6 car barn workshop and attached planned wood workshop so I'm already thinking about what I can get up to in my life after work. Dear teacher, what a fright you gave me.
When I saw that you raised your hand, my heart almost stopped. I imagine that it could have been because of my profession, since in my work history, I have had many patients who have suffered carpentry work and microsurgery is the greatest ally.
I hope with all my heart that it was not too long, but if you are talking about weeks, I imagine many things. The fact is that you are not afraid of machines, but you do respect them.
I have been following you from the beginning for years, and I have always been a fan of yours because of the beautiful apothecary cabinets you make.
I wish you a speedy recovery, teacher.

I do not have the talent to build anything" yet i have been slowly buying hand tools to at least practice the art I've loved since first taking woodworking class in Highschool of '87. Thank you for your sharing your work on all these beautiful and masterfully created pieces. My wife has asked me to craft her a Machinists toolbox for her custom jewelry business... hopefully i can meet and exceed her expectations. Please take good care of your self and take time to heal properly, G-d Bless you.

i've always loved your videos because you show just enough of each stage of the build to get your point across. Despite the lack of your voice I always know how each step is accomplished. Very unique among videos. I've purchased several hand tools I've seen you using on your projects as a recommendation of their quality. I now use them regularly. So sorry about your injury. I hope you heal quickly and get back in your shop soon. Happy New Year to you and your family.

Hey there Jason, as much as I enjoyed the tour, I hate the idea of seeing you like that. I really hope to see you back in action soon and you will suffer no consequences.
The video is full of love and admiration on what you do, but also family, father, wife, brother, son, grand son.
Man, you are full of humility.
I am happy to be subscribed, the world needs people like you

Your works are a true inspiration for me. Thanks to them I have learned a lot and I try to imitate your style although I am a simple amateur who barely has any work published on my channel. I want to wish you a good and quick recovery and that you will soon give us another job. For me, the best carpenter I have ever seen. Greetings.

I used to speculate about your place of origin, and settled eventually on Australia since you wear shorts a lot. Good to know these excellent creations you have made for our viewing pleasure over the years are by a fellow Yorkshireman. Wishing a speedy recovery. Plenty of Yorkshire tea will do.

It hurts seeing the hand. So feeling your pain. Over the years, your videos have been an " inspiration and a pleasure " to watch how you take junk and make that junk so very useful. Only wish many more would learn these skills for the next generation. Being well above 80, I fear for those coming up in life.

So sorry to see you had an accident. I wish you a strong recovery, like your little hammer built back better. But, this video was great! It’s like an origin story. I’m in the states and I thought you were over here too. It’s funny to see your shop I thought it was soooo much bigger. Very impressive the projects you pump out of that shop.

Sorry to hear of your mishap.
I thoroughly enjoy watching your creation videos but is also nice to see a video like this where your audience gets to see a bit about you and what influences your work. Drawers it seems 😁
We wish you a speedy recovery.
