I learned about this technique while in school but could never fully grasp the understanding of how to use the tool, but this video was monumental in helping me to fully understand the elastic audio process, and how it works. Thank you for this bit of information!

One Of The Best Tutorials Arround The World! Thanks!
Very informative video. I am not a great shortcut user, so an explanation of where the function is in the menu system would be helpful. Your examples were great.
Instead of quantise with 1% strength to have all the markers active, but keep material original, you can also hit quantise, than right click on track/s and select "remove warp".This way all markers will be active but any quantiseing will be removed.
@@PuremixAudioTutorials 12 hours later, everything is where it should be. Id been so confused with the logic behind elastic audio, I just never took the time to delve into understanding it. Was all over it within half an hour and could just rip into it all day confidently. Thanks again. Hope your career is going well. :)
1) First make sure your tempo ruler is visible at the top of the arrange. If not, right click on any of the ruler headers in the top left corner (below Shuffle/Spot/Slip/Grid box) and make it visible. 2) Then click the little plus button on the tempo ruler header to add tempo changes into the arrangement.

Great Video and information.... I'm having an issue with the Elastic audio in Pro Tools. When I open my project some of the tracks are greyed out and this message comes up saying "Unable to perform elastic audio because audio fil on playlist is unsupported for Elastic Audio as it is read only"? I have tried to go into the folder where audio files are for the project in the my C derive and turn off read only and it still does not work? These greyed out audio tracks will not play in the project? i end up deleting and recording the tracks (which is a waste of time) just so that it dos it over again. Have you or has anyone run into this, and was able to fix it? Avid is impossible to get an answer from regarding this.. I cant get tech support.. thanks
Hi, how would you quantize an acoustic guitar that has been recorded with 4 mics at once? There is a lot of artifacs with elastic audio doing this. Help! :/
What is original tracks had NO click tracks (so analog waveform varied tempo). Can you you still used Elastic Audio to tighten up tracks with each other?
double clicking and control clicking does not work for me. does anyone have a clue as to what is causing this? I've tried all combinations of the a/z buttons...
I understand why Elastic Audio can be helpful in certain scenarios. It is a cool feature of pro tools. But why use it in place of manual editing? It seems only marginally quicker, far less bullshit and Not to mention that there is a certain coloration a lot of the time when you render an elastic audio track. not being a troll here. just asking That said, youre a very good teacher and this video is helpful
Can you tell me how to fix a tech issue with my PT 8 LE ? The problem is my MBP early 2008 won't open up a session on my External HD but it will open Sessions on the internal HD. ..It keeps saying can't find volume error (-35) It's wierd because I have another MBP exactly the same however I don't have problem or with my regular MB from the same year..
goldensleeves take a look at the manual on how to activate elastic audio on your tracks by picking one of four algorithms that protools comes with. once you have activated it on the track warp will be ungreyed out.
Little Labs IBP Phase Alignment Tool plug-in for UAD-2 is what you're after. I don't know of another, non-UA one. Lilltle Labs makes the hardware one, obviously...
+Eh Lay John PT11 has warp. You have to enable Elastic Audio on the track first, and then choose Warp from the view in the track instead of waveform which is the default.
This is one of the better produced instruction videos I've ever seen. A lot of information perfectly demonstrated. Thank you for what you do
thank you for the kind words
Hands down best explained video on how to use elastic audio. Thank you!
At last. Someone has uploaded a really useful video! 1.000 thanks for that.
Thanks, Ben. Very clear explanation.

I've been doing this the hard way for so long. I'd never heard of warp markers before stumbling onto this. So thanks! This is awesome.
So handy. This will literally save me hours of editing. Thanks Ben!

Hi Ben, great tutorial video on Elastic audio. I have a quick question, how do you change the temple in the middle of the song?
Do you mean - 'What if the song has different tempos throughout the song?' because I have the same question.
Yes I have a song at 95 BPM and at the end it goes up to 105 BPM and I don;t know how to change the last 4 measures at 105 BPM.
1) First make sure your tempo ruler is visible at the top of the arrange. If not, right click on any of the ruler headers in the top left corner (below Shuffle/Spot/Slip/Grid box) and make it visible. 2) Then click the little plus button on the tempo ruler header to add tempo changes into the arrangement.
thanks for the tips
best video ever
Thanks a lot!
Thank you ..
Thanks!
nuff thanks great !!!!
Grand MASTER!
Awesome
Thanks Ben
is it suggested to strip the silence on toms? i would think you would want background noise from the mics
Gracias!

Hey which version of ProTools is this? I'm looking at getting 12 and I'm hoping it has the same elastic audio functions as this video. Thanks!
tks a lot

I followed your instructions on tempo change but nothing happens other than my recording stretches or shrinks.
Sorry, what's wrong if I find "warp", and "analyse" are greyed out, and "Crtl + Alt +
what exact button are you pressing to get the widow for the elastic audio.your going so fast I do not see it
what about x-form?
perfect :)

What is original tracks had NO click tracks (so analog waveform varied tempo).
Can you you still used Elastic Audio to tighten up tracks with each other?
+James Sundquist Yes, you could use the "Identify Beat" feature and get close enough to a solid tempo, then use EA from there.
double clicking and control clicking does not work for me. does anyone have a clue as to what is causing this? I've tried all combinations of the a/z buttons...
I understand why Elastic Audio can be helpful in certain scenarios. It is a cool feature of pro tools. But why use it in place of manual editing? It seems only marginally quicker, far less bullshit and Not to mention that there is a certain coloration a lot of the time when you render an elastic audio track.
not being a troll here. just asking
That said, youre a very good teacher and this video is helpful
When rendered and EA is disabled is there a way for the new audio track to move with tempo changes or must I enable EA again?
You have to have EA enabled on the track in order for for it to follow temp changes.

Hello, anyone knows a plug in that can put the phasis in any degree ? (not only the 180° like all the EQ do...)

What is the [or] key? e.g. Alt + Ctrl + [or] ?!?!
"[" or "]"
what key is option?
+PostCrusifixion it is a key on a mac that replaces the "alt" key on a pc. If you are using a pc you would push alt instead.
But don’t forget : shit in shit out
Am I tripping or is this the UA guy?
This is so much easier in Reaper. 🤣🤣🤣
Beautiful! thank you!
