@The Dan The Man Show as for the cleaning lady being able to resist thee Golden Turd they actually show us this with Vincent's dad Eddie the police lieutenant. He's a humble servant who serves the public selflessly. We see in his conversation with his wife Marilynn that he has a sense of fulfillment and is happy with his station in life. The conversation is very important to this: Marilyyn: It's beautiful! What do you think it is?! Lieutenant: It's a mistake is what it is. One week to retirement I risk my pension by stealing evidence?! What the hell was I thinking? That shows us he understands the weight of his decision and how it would effect him and his wife. He's thinking of the long term ramifications and the reputation of his family. All while in the presence of the turd. Marilynn, however, is an unfulfilled sad housewife who feels that she should be rewarded for her loyalty to her husband. Marilynn: You were thinking about us! Oh Eddie don't you see? The best your pension will get us is some crappy little cracker-box on the eastern shore. But now- NOW we can go to Boca! This changes EVERYTHING! Lieutenant: This changes NOTHING! I've always been a good cop and I'm going out a good cop! This shows us he has selfless resolve and unwavering accountability. He's prided himself on always doing the right thing even if it means losing something which the turd can't corrupt. Marilynn was easy to corrupt as the turd brought out her true feelings. Marilynn: You're going out on *NOTHING!* Lieutenant: An *HONEST* nothing! Marilynn: Yeah, well I'm *SICK* of your honesty!! What about me, huh? What about all those late nights I lied awake wondering if you were in some gutter, plugged in the groceries by some hopped-up dope fiend? *DON'T I GET SOMETHING FOR THAT?* This is when we knew the turd took Marilynn as Eddie was stronger willed than she was. The housekeeper is also a humble servant of the people (being that she's a house keeper) and a humble servant to god she seems very devout in her beliefs (Which is why she took the turd to the Vatican in the first place). The little girl was also unaffected by it as she was pure of heart and had a job where she was a servant to the people (a delivery person). Those three are ultimately unaffected as they rarely think of themselves daily and have pure hearts.
Since the little girl could resist the power of the turd by being pure of heart, I assume that the cleaning lady was also pure of heart which is why it didn't work on her. That's my thoughts anyways. Great video.
One detail I think is often overlooked is how, at the end of 300, the Golden Turd is hidden not only in a Claw Machine, but a Claw Machine in *Boca Raton.* Because Roger changed the past by hiding it here, this can, in turn, cause a Butterfly Effect, leading to not only plot holes like Father Donovan being alive, but also allow Jesus' generals to find the Golden Turd in, you guessed it, The Battle of Boca Raton. If you think about it, the ending to 300 allows for these inconsistencies to not only make sense, but also enhance the story being told
My favorite bit of continuity is Francine talking about stabbing her college room mate then in a later episode while she's trying to teach steve to fight there's a cutaway to young francine fighting someone in a meat locker and stabbing them
Yea there’s a couple of ongoing jokes like that Even spanning many years & seasons. Like Steve not forgetting that Barry is secretly crazy & it being brought up sometimes when hes off med
I also love the running gag (if you can call it that) that despite having no formal education, Francine is actually ridiculously knowledgeable about many obscure topics
Another piece of continuity is in S17’s Langley Dollar listings. When Francine mentions that this is the 2nd time she’s been a realtor. Which was a little callback to S1’s Threat Levels
I just love how the underlying message is that nobody uses the turd to their advantage financially, despite it potentially being worth near as much as some of the most prized bits of jewelry. They just mindlessly gaze at it and become psychotic murderers, all in the interest of just HAVING it, at any expense. Like, if that weren't a cursed artifact and just a comically shaped bit of precious mineral, it would certainly be hitting a pawn shop, Ebay, anything like that.
Yeah it’s kind of dumb when I think about it, but it’s basically like the One Ring from Lord of The Rings. It’s a symbolic element for human greed and paranoia. It’s a logical sacrifice in order to present its themes, which is more worth it than logically sacrificing your plot for the sake of convenience.

Roger also counts how many times he lands in the Oregon trail episode someone mentions that he crashed in Roswell he said “it was the first time”, there are multiple turlingtons they are all brothers and multiple of them have died
The only thing that disappointed me about this saga was the last part; it disappointed me that all those members of that secret society that killed each other were implied to be the only ones. It would've been great if there were more and found out about the Smiths' plan to put Roger back together and tried to stop them, leading to a debate about the utopia they worked so hard to accomplish and reminding them of all the bad things Roger did over the years. It would've added a lot more thrill and drama instead of just getting it easily.
I mean, the utopia thing sounds like what you would do for a series finally, were after the debate they come to the conclusion that they should let your own selfishness go and the uptopia stands.
The 300th episode 'end' to the saga kinda links it back to the rapture episode, as he hides it in Boca, and it's found in Boca. Like you said though, there's other plotholes like Father Donovan and Nemo
I’m so glad someone is finally going to go over the epic saga that is Mind Quad His character has so much depth and goes in so many unique directions, it really takes American Dad to a whole new level
One thing I liked was how they did the aspect ratio, especially in the last episode. It could be used to teach a class on storytelling with aspect ratio. Full screen for normal day to day stuff, letterbox for dramatic/serious, and the old aspect ratio used on older tvs used for flashbacks. They didnt just edit the old episode it was made for the new one they could of drawn it full screen but didnt because 4:3(?) Now implies retro or old and is a good way of visually framing a flashback
I thought actually this subplot was finished when the Pope got the turd because as soon as he says "we Have to return it." There's a scene of Roger yelling off screen, it's never explained or acknowledged so I assumed someone put the shit back where it came from and the subplot was over
You guys? You're both right. Either way, I love American Dad. Speaking of showrunners and their "creations," I like The Big Bang Theory by Chuck Lorre but not Two and a Half Men. My point is, American Dad is an animated show by Seth MacFarlane that keeps me happy.
Lol that very first episode with Roger finding out he has no alien powers doesnt hold up anymore since Roger is practically the most powerful being on Earth. Entire societies are held together or fall apart because of him lol.
Finally, someone that acknowledges the greatest arc of television history ... and American dad in general, which I really believe hit its stride once it changed channels and never looked back.
The golden turd is basically operating on One Ring rules. You don't want it for value. You just WANT it. 36:04 I don't know if the writers knew this while writing any of the saga but some ancient peoples (e.g. the Aztecs) believed gold was the excrement of the gods fallen to Earth. And in Japan, 24-karat golden turds in that coil shape are a common good-fortune charm. Something about the Japanese words for 'poop' and 'luck' being homophones or some sort of pun.
Even though it’s not perfect, American dad is one of the stronger shows with keeping things canon especially in their newer seasons. After the first few seasons they got their footing, weaned out the characters that weren’t working anymore, and built upon the ones they could and keep them consistent. Like I love how Greg is his own character now that Terry left (just an example theres more than just this one) but yea overall I think American Dad has become more consistent with it’s canon and you can really tell
I'll never admit defeat with American Dad and I intend to see this through to their final season. I definitely agree that the series has been consistent in every way each season. Keeping things canon is spot on. That and AD comes up with new material every episode.
I just want to say that I love how this mini-series did not only parody Tarantino’s filming style better than Three Directors from Family Guy, but also ended up telling a story of human greed, paranoia and materialism.
American Dad is the only one of the two shows I can still tolerate watching. AD is more underrated and your opinion of the Golden Turd saga is another thing I like about this series, how they approached the subplot and the tone of the whole thing.
I completely forgot the title and reason for me clicking on this video. Your intro was very well written lol to well written even When you finally brought up "Golden Turd" I had to look at my phone because I thought youtube started playing something else You just got a new subscriber
You missed that the arcade in the end was in "Boca Raton"!!! This ties in The Apocalypse Christmas special episode, where Jesus has possession of the Artifact! The Artifact which he recovered in Boca Raton... Also, the Apocalypse of the Bible happens at the "End of Time". The very end of human history. Therefore, the episodes where the Father is alive and the Anti-Christ is a child; although, airing in a later episode doesn't effect the timeline and still makes sense. Whatever happens in the series, the actual ending of the show will be as it was in the Apocalypse Christmas episode + making it relevant to the Golden Turd storyline overall 😤😅 This leaves the Golden Turd saga open-ended if the show chooses to keep it going and the timeline is perfect as long as the evil artifact stays/ends up in Boca Raton. If not then it's perfect as is. Excellent video btw. I searched RUclips and watched three different videos on the subject & was left unsatisfied until I watched yours! Great job & Thank you. I liked & subscribed 😎
You know what I realized...when Current Roger spoke to his past self about the turd and told him to hide it someplace, Past Roger took it away from that power plant. This means that when Jim and Mike arrived to do their work, Jim never found the turd; thus keeping him from murdering Mike. This means that the officer's family would also remain in one piece later on. So, Roger saved quite a few people's lives by hiding that turd away. Sure, some kid found it in that claw machine game but THAT happened after the events of what COULD'VE been
Great video, dude. Really interesting and entertaining analysis. Also, I think the reason that these segments don't have jokes is because the inherent absurdity of all this drama, betrail, and suffering happening because of something as ludicrous as a golden, gem encrusted turd is kind of the joke.
It HAS to be JEFF FISHER finding out about Roger, getting sent to space and stuck out there for a season lost and Hayleys search and his search for each other.
Dang, I had forgotten about these, they were always so weird yet interesting when they showed up. I actually saw a good chunk of these that aired to, all of them to the one with the corrupt politician finding it. Interesting to hear that they kept it going and gave it an ending.
When Roger changes the past his past self asks past Steve I’d he wants to go on a road trip to Boca Raton. I’m pretty sure that was meant to be a setup to the turd being there when Jesus’ army was in Boca to pick it up. I think that helps fix some of the discrepancy.
Came across your work yesterday while sick. I enjoy your personality and style of humor. You're also very thorough and your annunciation is hypnotically pleasant. Subscribed.
Something I've noticed watching this even after watching all of American dad countless times is the cleaner recognised the turd and wasent effected it could he the little girls somehow far out there but possible also the claw machine is in Boca Raton where it was found during the rapture episode
My headcannon after the episode of Steve unleashing the nameless one that destroys earth is that after the family dies or civilization ends(200 episode) the show moves on to a Smith family in a different reality
The Golden Turd from American Dad reminds me of the Wall from Solar Opposites. Both are wacky cartoons that depict over the top shenanigans in episode that are more or less contained and don't pay much attention to continuity. And both shows will sometimes move away from the goofy antics of the main characters to tell a more serious story with continuity being front and center.
I haven’t been able to see any new American dad for a few years now due to not seeing the new episodes show up on cable and it being picked up by no Canadian streaming services just some really obscure stuff so I’m so happy to see their continuing some of the running gags
What a creative story line. As a show with hardly no continuity when the first "To Be Continued" came up at first I thought they wasn't serious about actually continuing it! 💩
Yes the Jeff Fischer ark is gonna be fun to listen to but American Dad have had another continuous story. (The christmas episodes which you've done videos about so.. I guess you knew that...)
American Dad I enjoy for many reasons including the fact that the media doesn't gab on about AD every day like most other shows and I've left the overrated The Simpsons for Futurama (doesn't show off as much).
I'ma be straight up, until you pointed them out, I never noticed the small cameos like the one in the intro or the chalice, but I'm also as blind as a bat when it comes to stuff like this lmao
Amazing video. What episode are the shots of the man on the train tracks and the woman with the poison on the cork board from and what looks like Louis griffin as a cosplay detective or something????
I think this was a brilliant hidden story with a very satisfying ending. I like it when longtime audience members are rewarded for paying attention. however I wish the little delivery girl had a bigger role though. she looked creepy and it could've been revealed that she had superpowers or smth... also she looks way too young to have a job like that. could've done more with that character is all I'm saying^^ my favourite detail is that the story ends with roger hiding the turd in a toy vendor in boca raton.... aka where jesus and his troops found it in the future! which means the rapture and all of those events were canon. also, the young antichrist we see born in a later episode may be a reincarnation.
Bruh,I jus seen an episode with the golden turd en ngl, everytime I catch a episode by chance and see it mentioned I’m instantly glued cause I jus gotta know what happened next cause it’s been so random and can go anywhere so I’m glad I’ve found a video that’ll put it all together cause it’s been on n my mind for a min
Boy if I were to have a nickel every time a serious plot line was in an adult animated show and had almost nothing to do with our main leads… I’d have two nickels, which isn’t a lot but it’s weird that happened twice. (I’m talking about The Wall Arc in Solar Opposites btw)
If the next episode is about jeff, then it should talk about his obsession with his hat. His hat is probably right below Hailey in his priorities. It will probably talk more about his abduction, failure to return, death and then "cloning" to be brought back. The majestic is such a good song.
Bro for the episode 14 intro there’s the pac man world 2 ghost bayou theme playing goddamn that brings back some childhood memories played the hell outta that as a kid.
The reason why the part in Blagsnart: A Love Story doesn't pick up on what happened with his 'son' is because you were right, it wasn't his son. It was just a random kid playing in the neighborhood.

I don't think we'll see the last of the golden turd after the ending in the claw machine.
“wont be too long! only 3 seasons later!” are u insane lmao what the hell
Most underrated RUclips GOAT back at it, great video Dan I don't think I've seen anyone else tackle this topic in such a complete fasion!
American Dad is one of the "most underrated" shows ever!!
I completely forgot the title and reason for me clicking on this video. Your intro was very well written lol to well written even
When you finally brought up "Golden Turd" I had to look at my phone because I thought youtube started playing something else
You just got a new subscriber
You missed that the arcade in the end was in "Boca Raton"!!!
This ties in The Apocalypse Christmas special episode, where Jesus has possession of the Artifact! The Artifact which he recovered in Boca Raton...
Also, the Apocalypse of the Bible happens at the "End of Time". The very end of human history. Therefore, the episodes where the Father is alive and the Anti-Christ is a child; although, airing in a later episode doesn't effect the timeline and still makes sense. Whatever happens in the series, the actual ending of the show will be as it was in the Apocalypse Christmas episode + making it relevant to the Golden Turd storyline overall 😤😅
This leaves the Golden Turd saga open-ended if the show chooses to keep it going and the timeline is perfect as long as the evil artifact stays/ends up in Boca Raton.
Sure, some kid found it in that claw machine game but THAT happened after the events of what COULD'VE been
Not only do I f****** love that show but that particular storyline is my favorite
Great video, dude. Really interesting and entertaining analysis.
Also, I think the reason that these segments don't have jokes is because the inherent absurdity of all this drama, betrail, and suffering happening because of something as ludicrous as a golden, gem encrusted turd is kind of the joke.
okay, i have binge watched your channel all day. you have made a fan
I'm disappointed the saga ended yet surprised it lasted so long
I’m like 100% sure its Al Tuttle
No it’s Bobby the Bullet
@@raikuFA he died in the 100th episode
It HAS to be JEFF FISHER finding out about Roger, getting sent to space and stuck out there for a season lost and Hayleys search and his search for each other.
yeah I've always thought American dad's continuity is pretty solid.
Me too, me too. Those who say otherwise probably hate the series and should not comment on any videos.
Dang, I had forgotten about these, they were always so weird yet interesting when they showed up. I actually saw a good chunk of these that aired to, all of them to the one with the corrupt politician finding it. Interesting to hear that they kept it going and gave it an ending.
I hate my voice and I hate that I have this almost unnoticeable lisp. Watching you and your videos have made me feel better about it.
Amazing video, and I can't wait for your jeff video since he's my favorite character in the show
When Roger changes the past his past self asks past Steve I’d he wants to go on a road trip to Boca Raton. I’m pretty sure that was meant to be a setup to the turd being there when Jesus’ army was in Boca to pick it up. I think that helps fix some of the discrepancy.
*if he wants
26:14 it’s obviously because she’s a good Catholic, and the overwhelming power of Jesus Christs love allowed her to overcome the sin of the turd
As you talk: I realize you never liked this plotline. So much rage....
Oh lord, they won’t give up the gold shit
Ad 1 of 2 "Milkwood." thank you .
I LOVE IT DAN!!!
You should do a video on the evolution of steve's love interests
Came across your work yesterday while sick. I enjoy your personality and style of humor. You're also very thorough and your annunciation is hypnotically pleasant. Subscribed.
This is very well done Thank you for your thoroughness with each episode
In the latter half of the 300 part you can here world of goo music
Wow I never knew how well American Dad turd lore fit into American Dad Christmas special lore but those two cameos set up the ending really well.
i just found your channel, i love the American Dad and Adult Swim content .
Keep the great content coming!
Sid the Sloth impression on fleek
Something I've noticed watching this even after watching all of American dad countless times is the cleaner recognised the turd and wasent effected it could he the little girls somehow far out there but possible also the claw machine is in Boca Raton where it was found during the rapture episode
I learned so much from this. 😆
I'll subscribe, homie.
"is none other than: MIND QUAD"
i feel like stan is in some kind of heaven inception because he has died and been sent to his own personal heaven a couple of times now
My headcannon after the episode of Steve unleashing the nameless one that destroys earth is that after the family dies or civilization ends(200 episode) the show moves on to a Smith family in a different reality
It was a weird subplot. Since it didn't happen all the time, it is easy to forget about it.
I love how you are using the stone tower temple music from Majora's Mask. The Golden Turd is very similar to Majora's mask in a lot of ways.
I never watched Solar Opposites and that series has way too much hype anyway whereas American Dad is horribly underrated.
I haven’t been able to see any new American dad for a few years now due to not seeing the new episodes show up on cable and it being picked up by no Canadian streaming services just some really obscure stuff so I’m so happy to see their continuing some of the running gags
It’s been on Disney+ for a long while here. The new episodes show up shortly after they air.
I've never cared about the Golden Turd. I'm just here for American Dad content.
What a creative story line. As a show with hardly no continuity when the first "To Be Continued" came up at first I thought they wasn't serious about actually continuing it! 💩
This legendary MacGuffin is looking poopy and shining and glowing with crystals from this treasure
Another fantastic video Dan!
My theory is the turd being the glowing object in the briefcase from pulp fiction.
Just subbed I watched this video last night, watching the crossover one now. Can't wait to check the rest out.
Yes the Jeff Fischer ark is gonna be fun to listen to but American Dad have had another continuous story. (The christmas episodes which you've done videos about so.. I guess you knew that...)
These are the type of things that makes American dad ten times better than family guy and modern day simpsons
American Dad I enjoy for many reasons including the fact that the media doesn't gab on about AD every day like most other shows and I've left the overrated The Simpsons for Futurama (doesn't show off as much).
My username has finally paid off
I'ma be straight up, until you pointed them out, I never noticed the small cameos like the one in the intro or the chalice, but I'm also as blind as a bat when it comes to stuff like this lmao
To me the events of Raptures Delight takes place in an alternate timeline to Seasons Beating and the stuff that happens with the golden turd
Amazing video. What episode are the shots of the man on the train tracks and the woman with the poison on the cork board from and what looks like Louis griffin as a cosplay detective or something????
It was “Failure is not a Factory-Installed” Option
Just found this channel just wanted to say great work and impressed with ur knowledge of storytelling
I think this was a brilliant hidden story with a very satisfying ending. I like it when longtime audience members are rewarded for paying attention. however I wish the little delivery girl had a bigger role though. she looked creepy and it could've been revealed that she had superpowers or smth... also she looks way too young to have a job like that. could've done more with that character is all I'm saying^^
my favourite detail is that the story ends with roger hiding the turd in a toy vendor in boca raton.... aka where jesus and his troops found it in the future! which means the rapture and all of those events were canon. also, the young antichrist we see born in a later episode may be a reincarnation.
I've never seen the ending but that is amazing he puts it in a claw machine
Glad someone's talking about it
This is a great video bro. I've absolutely _loved_ _The Golden Turd_ saga since I first saw it, it's equally brilliant and stupid :)
Yes you are going to do the jeff smith abduction saga. that is a fantastic arc since that is my best arc😁😁😁😁😁😆😆😆😆😆😆
Boy if I were to have a nickel every time a serious plot line was in an adult animated show and had almost nothing to do with our main leads…
I’d have two nickels, which isn’t a lot but it’s weird that happened twice.
I loved the golden turd saga! It would be pretty cool to see it continued
I honestly hope if it hasnt been done someone should made a parody scp of this.
This was my favorite 'show within a show' for sooooo long until the wall in solar opposites :p
this has always driven me insane, if the Golden Turd is Canon, so is the rapture, which means everything after the rapture is stan's heaven experience
I think that’s the truth
thank you for talking about this show. i feel it's the better of the Seth Trio's. I still keep up with the show and current with it's episodes.
The reason why the part in Blagsnart: A Love Story doesn't pick up on what happened with his 'son' is because you were right, it wasn't his son.
It was just a random kid playing in the neighborhood.
Ok so I’m not crazy LOL
I looked at the thumbnail and thought you were rtgame
