I was also looking for the GRGR221PA as I already have a GRG7221QA as my only working electric and I want a 6 string instead of a 7 string mainly for cleaner 6 string covers
I've got the GRGR221PA in aqua burst, I love it except for the stock pickups. I may switch them out for some with a bit more punch. I really love this guitar but it just leaves something missing with stock pickups.
I got the Ibanez GRG121DX a few years ago and changed the pickups into SH-16b and SH-1n. I advise upgrading the pickups as it sounds much better right now. You can also try DiMarzio pickups, there are good models there as well.
I hv tried both the guitars Basically they have both same pickups ibanez generic pickups What i felt is the ibanez 221pa sounds bit clearer maybe because of the okoume body and purple heart fretboard of 221 and the 121 have poplar earlier it was basswood i guess but now they are using poplar they both sound nice in clean but dirt was not upto the mark for me atleast anyway this is personal opinion I hope it helped you^_^
Why shops in me country dont have categorized ibanez gio and standart they have only model names whit out a year of making i what ibanez but i cant buy becose we dont get every models so i cant trie them so i Stock whit me 2012 squier Bullet hss
