“Sorry Is Not Enough!” Paula Vennells Apologises To Subpostmasters At Post Office Inquiry

  • A Conservative peer, who played a role in helping sub-postmasters convicted in the Post Office scandal get justice, has said “sorry is not enough” after the former boss made an emotional appearance at the Horizon IT inquiry.
    Paula Vennells twice broke down in tears mid-evidence, as she was grilled about why she had told MPs that the Post Office had been successful in every case against subpostmasters.
    Lord James Arbuthnot was name checked in Ms Vennells' apology. Joining Talk’s Ian Collins, Lord Arbuthnot says “tears don’t cut it” and adds that “proper accountability must follow” the inquiry, including prosecutions for those involved.

      I got up in the middle of the night to watch her. What a performance. She's obviously been carefully coached by a very expensive lawyer. I thought Jason Beer was terrific. As for Vennells' performance, no sale. As Mr. Beer pointed out, she could only remember what supported her innocence but couldn't recall anything that pointed to her being responsible for the atrocious treatment of those poor subpostmasters and subpostmistresses. A woman I saw interviewed who had been sent to prison at 19 for doing something that she didn't do and in fact would never have dreamt of doing, she has my sympathy. Not this self-satisfied, lives in a 2 million pound house, carries on with her plush life self-satisfied bureaucrat, nope.

    She wasn't crying when it was happening, she didn't cry when it all came out, but suddenly when faced with evidence face to face, she cries. What an absolute MONSTER. SHe is crying because she has been caught out. Crying for herself whilst pretending to say sorry to those affected and the dead.

    This woman has no shame, honesty or credibility. Probably the biggest attributes required to get the job in the first place.
    I’m surprised she made it to this, turn up and let the world see exactly what a piece of work it was.
    Now she has, there must be prosecution and incarceration for her and the likes.
    If the establishment cover this over, hopefully it would be a tipping point whereby country turns in it.

    • @useruknown-_-007
      @useruknown-_-007 28 дней назад

      Those attributes that you speak, firstly shame is not something that assessed within the application process or during an interview stage. Where as honesty is via cross checking what is said in your application Vs the questions asked in your interview and lastly with the references that are supplied and finally with the DBS check, which all goes hand in hand with credibility. Now passing all these stages doesn't mean you foresee the future of something like the post office scandal taking place.

    Yes P Vennells worked very hard and loves the post Office. But she did not do her job well, in fact she did it terribly ill. Working hard is not what is required, doing the right thing is. She wanted to keep the post Office out of a 10 year legal process that would ruin its name. Look what she did. It took more than 10 years and the name is forever associated with her scandal, and that is not even the worst part. The worst part is the harm imposed to all the subpostmasters.
