As a kid I always wondered why Allison left David over something trivial like Bean living with them, but so many years later I still find it odd. Maybe it was the “last straw” for her and was finally done, but still, I wonder, why couldn’t she talk this through with David? I know it’s not really the point of the movie, but I’m curious about her motives for leaving him.

Well in one scene where they were drunk in the bar, he did say the Bean was one of the reason she left. There were other reasons before bean came along and it was done for her.
David was focusing too much on his work and him having a random guy from work stay with them without her permission was the straw that broke the camels back if I remember correctly
Women don’t respect the one who brings home the money, until they realised they can’t spend anymore.
It seemed like her, along with their kids both had something against British people. Watch the beginning of the movie and you'll see what I mean.

Better than the standard
So the US release of the movie has a different turkey scene, which reuses the turkey gag from the TV episode "Merry Christmas Mr. Bean" where he gets his head stuck in the turkey. Even though this version is much shorter, I think I prefer it with David asking Bean if he's cooked one of these before. Works better as a reference to the turkey gag rather than reuse it (despite other gags the movie reuses).

What a legendary movie
This family had no character or any empathy. They ruined this movie that could have been legendary without them.

The biggest problem with the plot of this movie is the way that David, as the art gallery curator, gets all the blame about Mr Bean when ultimately it was the National Gallery in London that sent him. Indeed, Bean was actually representing the National Gallery, not David's gallery in Los Angeles. In real life, the first thing that David's gallery would have done, on being presented with Mr Bean, would be to contact the National Gallery and ask them why on earth they had sent them this man - and then ask Bean to prove his credentials. This storyline wouldn't have got far in real life (although it is, of course, just a story).
