Hands down, my favorite 2600 game of all time! I've always had a fascination with the sea and scuba diving and sharks. When this game came out in '83, my 7-year-old mind was convinced it was designed just for me! Later in life, I became a diver and had my vintage Activision Sub Club patch sewn onto my dive gear bag!
I played the hell outta SEAQUEST as a kid. Atari had a lot of good games, and this is one of the best. Thank you Atari for filling the void back when there were only 3 channels on tv and absolutely nothing else to do.
From the Seaquest manual: JOIN THE ACTIVISION "SUB CLUB" Once your sea legs are steady, you can propel yourself into the "Sub Club." Reach a score of 50,000 points (or more) and you'll be eligible to join this prestigious organization. Just send us a picture of your TV screen with your name and address and we'll present you with an official "Sub Club" emblem.
One of my absolute favourite Atari 2600 games and the one I held the record on until recently (although that person was using emulation). I have actually started work on a version of this for the Colecovision, as all Activision games are of course better on the Colecovision :)
Activision really did/does have some great releases on the 2600. You know what you need to review? The Swordquest games, because then you can review the games, the comics needed to play the games, and the prizes you could win for playing the games all at once. it would be, like, a triple dose of CGR goodness. Or would it be a triple triple dose, since I think they finished three of the four games, wasn't it?
***** I know that at least one of them WAS melted back down, and there was one of them that spent something like 20 years in the office of the Atari CEO or something like that. The Swordquest thing really was a ridiculous promotion, made all the worse by the fact that it renders the related games pretty much unplayable without the comics, and of course, pretty much pointless too, which is sad: they were VERY well constructed games, and looked great on the 2600.
I can't see him doing it really, AVGN covered that one pretty well. I mean I'd watch Mark review anything. Ball caps, dinky cars, whatever. But It's been done. He's a pretty original guy it seems like he picks what he reviews at complete random then just plays it and goes from there
***** Unfortunately for me, last night my laptop determined RUclips to be an unworthy pursuit and that it would no longer suffer the indignity of playing it, so it will be a while before I can watch any videos again (though, nicely, I can still respond through Google Plus.)
Seaquest looks great! Another quality Activision title for the Atari 2600! It reminds me a lot of Jaws for the NES by LJN. Except you didn't have to worry about going back up for air and you were a diver rather than a submarine (unless you got the power up!) and you weren't rescuing anybody. I will have to give this game a try! :)
Without the Atari 2600 you wouldn't have activistion, you know, call of duty. 3rd party developers started mainly because of the Atari 2600. I can agree some of the games don't hold up, but many are just pure fun. Remember when games were fun? Anyway, more vectrex reviews Mark!
Yeah I think years ago I got 300k points. I got really good at it when I first had my Atari. lol It is a great, fast and classic game. And Activision definitely had the better games on the 2600.
mark, that's wrong. you're not shooting fish and rescuing divers. You're actually invading Atlantis, and aqua-man summoned all the fish to try and stop you from kidnapping the fleeing citizen. if you survive long enough, you get to fight aqua-man, and if you succeed, you shoot down Atlantis till it burns and crumbles. forever. it's based on real facts. true story.
If you stick too games with Activision on the cart, then it's a safe bet it's gonna be a good game on the Atari 2600. Same can be said for the games on the Intelevision, and Colecovision, or just about any home computer system produced during that time, like the Commodore 64.

This was a great game. Loved playing it!
I swear you never fail to make me laugh. Great video like always.
Ahhh...the game that made me get Expansion Module #1.
One of my absolute favourite Atari 2600 games and the one I held the record on until recently (although that person was using emulation).
I have actually started work on a version of this for the Colecovision, as all Activision games are of course better on the Colecovision :)
Seaquest was my favorite Atari 2600 video game and one of my favorite video games, ever!
Just like AVGN is best when he reviews NES games, Mark is best when he reviews Atari 2600 games. Love it! Great show!
One of my favorite Atari games. I played the hell out of it.
I loved playing this as a kid. Wish I still had my Atari and Vetrex. Just downloaded Seaquest for some nostalgia gaming.
Keep the atari reviews coming, love watching especially for the beloved 2600. Great job. You should review Subtereanea next. Thanks

Hells yeah! This is one of my favorite games from my childhood! Up there with Keystone Kapers!
Loved playing this as a kid!!

This game is incredibly addicting. I've used to play it for several hours in my childhood.
This and Frostbite is 2600 perfection!
Este juego me encantaba jugar en el Atari 2600 haya por los finales de los 80´s ,, lindas navidades..!!
It's one of the best Atari 2600 games ever! Can't agree more with the review! Grab a copy ASAO!
I'm always surprised when we get a 2600 game Mark hasn't reviewed yet.
I don't like how the enemies just disappear when you shoot them. They couldn't have included a little explosion or something?
I love this game.
Looks like a really fun game.Try it i must.
I wonder if CGR ever reviewed Krull for Atari 2600.
Why not just look it up?
I was today in Verona. Well, not Pennsylvania.

Wasn't this video already uploaded some time ago? I'm having deja vu, I think.
Looks like I know what I'm getting next for my Atari 2600.
I would have to say it was probably the best game on the Atari 2600 I still play it with handheld emulation okay occasionally
Mark earned the Activision patch. :o
this game was awesome!
*is
This game is like Seaquest DSV meets JAWS, so in a way, this should be called Roy Scheider: The Game for Atari 2600.
Some of the background sounds like Megamania.
This is my Mom's 2nd favourite game, lol.
I wanna play this. :D
Yeah I think years ago I got 300k points. I got really good at it when I first had my Atari. lol It is a great, fast and classic game. And Activision definitely had the better games on the 2600.
im on a seaquest finding MOLES thats my obsession
You should try out the Atari 800 port that was made a couple of years ago:

This reminds me of Jaws for NES
Except, this is good and Jaws was terrible.
I played this all the time before I got Nintendo.
Tiny bubbles..everywhere
This game reminds me of the the cold war between the us & ussr.
good game on Atari 2600 but too much water 7.8/10
An Atari 2600 game that doesn't look like it sucks, that's unusual.

Seaquest the closest released game to AQUAVENTURE
Back when Activision made real games and not the crap they release these days
before gta v was out lol
Jaws ripped off this game, and the movie starred Roy Scheider. Then seaQuest DSV ripped off the title, and that show starred Roy Scheider.
lol, jaws came out in 75, this game came out in 82.
The Nintendo game.
Man change your intro please.
This game looks terrible. The TV show was terrible, too.
Atari 2600 = absolute bottom of the barrel garbage
gr8b8m8
Just like your mom, you pathetic millennial.
You're confusing the 2600 with InFamous: Second Son.
I'd rather play an Atari 2600 than a PS4.
Seventizz
You're a liar.
