I am beyond burnout. I am seeing a cardiologist for unexplained palps which may or may not be from work. I'm in retail. Overworked, underpaid, micromanaged, stressed, absolutely exhausted.
Insightful !! Sir One of my college friend is struggling with career gap of 4 yrs just after his graduation & internship he took a break for helping his family at home especially his working mom so he didn't do any volunteer work in that time but watched a lot of valuable lectures about his work so could you share tips on How to target companies & convince employers to hire him after a big 4 yrs career gap ? He has all the essential skills required to do the role in his mechanical design engineers industry..also how should he tailor his resume to get opportunities ? Or networking would be helpful.. Possible ways to handle upcoming challenges or opportunities to succeed without coming up across as unprofessional in any way ?? Any book recommendations on this topic to get selected would be helpful too...
I think gaps are becoming more and more understandable. The two big things to focus on on are that he can prove his up to date on his knowledge, and rebuilding his network. Hopefully, there’s a local mechanical engineering group he can plug into that can help with both. I would advise getting started there.

Thanks so much!
How do you handle burnout in yourself (not in your team)?
