Here's how I help myself to understand. My precious grandson is 1 year old. All day long he stumbles, falls, gets into things he shouldn't, fusses when he doesn't get his way, screams out when he gets hurt, demands his needs to be met when he's hungry, tired or just plain bored. 24 hours round the clock, Love is all around him, picks him up when he stumbles or falls and sets him back on track, Love holds him when he's hurting, entertains him when he's bored, cradles him when it's time to rest, Love provides his food, clothes, protection from the bad things yet gives him enough space to learn certain things on his own when he's ready. Love surrounds him 24/7 through every emotion and event in his life. THIS is how God loves us. That 1 year old grandbaby couldn't do anything AT ALL to take away or change the Love that surrounds him. We are God's children. This is how he loves us.
