I've heard that the reason why the Scotts and Welsh were so often accused of sleeping with Sheep is due to them exploiting a quirk in English law. In England if a man was convicted of stealing a sheep, the man would be executed. If a man were convicted (or plead guilty) to having sex with a sheep, then the sheep would be killed instead. The sheep owner was not allowed to eat the sheep or sell its meat either. The man who fucked the sheep would have to pay a fine, but that fine was less than the price the sheep would have fetched if it hadn't been fucked. The Welsh and Scottish were not particularly prone to bestiality, but a lot of them who lived near the English border were sheep thieves. When caught taking a sheep, they liked to plead guilty to bestiality in order to save their own lives and to further punish their English victims.
I had thought the take for the glass candles was emblematic of the POV structure: that Sam enters the mind of the Bravo in the same way we enter the mind of the POV or George enters the mind of the character's subconscious when he writes. I guess this was an accident?

So we're pretty sure that TTB was behind Bran's fall, right? To do that, TTB probably had to possess the crows that Bran habitually feeds atop the broken tower to make it his favorite place, and/or Summer, who refused to play fetch, thus why Bran went climbing that day? (And maybe had to do something to get Jaime and Cersei at the right place at the right time?) Also wonder if falling from the tower was a failed plan from a much earlier timeline, where TTB was trying to possess Bran, before TTB realized he'd have to open Bran's 3rd eye first... another vestige of a failed plan is probably Osha? Previously, TTB tried to use her to kidnap Bran to get him north of the Wall, but that failed, so he had to sacrifice Robb and Theon and the people of Winterfell?
With the whole TTB/body swap thing, I think it's more analogous to Eren in attack on titan. It's not a perfect comparison because eren can't directly interact with time the same way bran can, but a good way to describe it is that all the 'variants' of bran are still wholly bran, the same as *our* bran, even ttb, in the same way that ymir, ending eren, and the founding titan have alwasy been there and, like eren, our bran is not yet aware he is ttb, or always has been so to speak. With the fate of little Maegor Brightflame, I have trouble believing he made it to adulthood? He has a very good claim to the throne... there's only 4 reasons for him not to be king: 1. he's too young 2. he clearly suffers from the same sanity-destroying prophetic dreams and mental illnesses as his father Aerion *and* his maternal grandfather Rhaegel 3. Egg already won at the Great Council; no takesies-backsies 4. he lacks political support. Reason 1 goes away with time and Reason 2 has to be pretty extreme to discount him (Rhaegel, Aerion and Aerys II all served as princes of Dragonstone). Reason 3 is pretty weak on its own and Reason 4 should go away, given how unpopular pro-peasant Egg was among the nobility. The fact that we don't hear anything about Maegor... as far as we know, he doesn't lead a rebellion, or do something crazy with wildfire, or anything at all... it suggests to me that he died very young? Mayyybe he became a septon or maester, and disappeared to history like many Targaryens before him... would it be a better story to have him be Marwyn or the Smiling Knight or whoever, or for Egg to deal with one of his closest allies killing a toddler to secure Egg's throne (kinda a Robb and Lord Karstark situation?) It would make a good D&E novella... in the parallel universe where a dozen more of those stories got written.

We already know people come to different conclusions about things, so that's not a story worth telling. I admit I despise when people ask for there to basically be no resolution and/or no definition.
I think like most things writing, you have to be skillful for ambiguity to pay off... like if you're telling a story where the point is to discuss the good and bad of two factions, is it not more thought provoking to have some ambiguity to reflect reality? In a world such as Tolkiens LOTR. Adding ambiguity to the evil of the Orcs is weak because Tolkien operates under a Christian apologist premise where there is objective good and evil. All information is there to paint the elves as either idealistic or selfish, but it is ambiguous because people disagree.
I hope this makes sense, haha
Edit: like yes their is an objective set of facts for the bolsheviks and the mensheviks/whites/fascists. But who the 20th century Russian/ukranian/etc. Chose to support is ambiguous based on their evaluation of the objective set of facts as well as their access to this information. Isn't it good to portray this in media?
