@@muratturk2545 Congratulations on the video, I was also motivated by this video and I opened a channel, I uploaded a video where I polish the headlights, I hope you like it. Thank you

You're damn right.
After watching your video I tried it myself on my '08 Suburban headlights and they look as good as new. I followed exactly what you did and it worked perfectly. Thanks for posting the video!
Thank you!
Good
How long did it last
I saw the video and I am going to restore my headlights just how you showed us. I saw you applying a plastic protection liquid after cleaning your headlight. I was I reading a lot about a clear coat spray that is used after the cleaning. I did not see you do that in the video. Do I have to purchase that separately in addition to the maguiares Restoration Kit?
Also curious how long it lasts.
I purchased this kit and had the same results, I did 4 cars with one kit and still have some left over. Every car turned out looking really nice due to this refurbishing kit. Thank you.
I purchased the Meguiars Heavy Duty Headlight Restoration Kit from Walmart for $24.00 and followed the directions to the letter on my heavily oxidized 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix headlights. It too about 20 minutes per headlight but the results were amazing. This product really, really works. Why spend lots more to have a shop do it when it really is a DIY product with amazing results!!
Michael Stonewall Thanks for watching!
Definitely vital to follow instructions closely, whatever product you have.
After 4 years ,how is it
Followed this tutorial and had grand success today....I took about 15 mins on each light and the results were even better than expected...my headlights now look almost brand new
I think the best tip is: Read the instructions on the box. But, I must say this shows that you don't have to follow the manufacturer's step by step instructions and can still get great results. At a glance, I'll say, don't use circular motion with the sandpaper (use side to side motion with the 1000 grit, up and down with the 3000 grit). Then use a corded drill to get the appropriate rpm. And don't use paper towels at all. The applicator kit has a sponge for the final clear coat (maybe not when this video was made).
But again-- this video showed how quick and easy it can be.
Thanks for the tip on the sandpaper, I’ll be buying the kit tomorrow and trying it on my 14 Sierra, I want her looking like new!
Who even makes a corded drill anymore?

Agree 💯 the manufacturer wants the product to work well otherwise people will rate it low/not buy it again. They do pay people to come up with the steps they list on instructions lol
That's really good. I used this system on my 2003 Toyota van and it really does give you brighter, decent looking headlights... For about 3 months! The only way I've found to get long life from any headlight cleaning method is to spray the final job with clear plastic spray. When I did that, it's been 18 months since I coated them and they still look fine!
Douglas James what product did you use?
Where can I get the clear plastic spray??
Did you put the clear coat before or after the polishing step?
I also bought the kit.........100,000 AZ miles on headlights.......IT WORKED AMAZING!!! What surprised me was all of the goooo from the wet sanding that puddled on the ground........it only took a half hour and the lights look brand new. YA MEGUIARS !!!!!!!!!!
THANKS DUDE
FINALLY a product that WORKS! Was skeptic at the start but after buying this kit my lights literally look BRAND NEW! Excellent tutorial...followed it to a tee and took no more than 15 minutes! Three cheers for MAGUIARS!
Great job and you demonstrate just how easy it is to do. Your lights were not as bad as most. With heavy yellowing I start out with 400 grit dry, then go to 800 dry, 1000, 3000, 5000 wet (I use drill with 3" pad at low speed) then polish and use Meguiars clear-coat spray which adds durability and longevity. Of coarse you must paper around the light to prevent over-spay onto the paint, this along with the extra sanding steps takes a little more time but well worth the effort.
ya i was thinking the same thing with extra sanding pads, my headlights are very bad and think its a good idea !
How long would it last?
Thank you Robert! I am tackling this project on two vehicles today! No nonsense and straightforward. Please make more videos!
Hi 772customs! Just restored my headlights using the same products, after watching your RUclips. Worked really well. Took longer than you but still managed to complete both sides in less than an hour! Thanks for uploading this video!
I just bought this kit today, and after watching this video I am so excited to use this product. My headlights are not that bad but you can see it when the lights are on, and now I know after using this they will make my truck look like new
I bought the kit on Amazon for just over $18 this past spring. I just used it today on our old van, after watching your video. Big, BIG difference!! My wife couldn't believe it. I didn't expect it to turn out great, but it did!
Thanks for posting the video!
I'm so happy it helped you out! Thanks for watching my video.
Followed your instructions and my headlights on my 05 Acura came out looking brand new.
Very happy I can see a normal person use this equipment rather than a sales man or a professional. Good job dude and definitely shows me how easy it is to do. Thanks
+Shaun Garner your welcome and thanks for watching
If you are a professional I didn't mea it in an insulting way. Just nice to see a man do his work and show how easy it is other than trying to sell something. Cheers dude

Shaun Garner nope just a regular guy. Bought the kit and made the video.
Thanks for producing this video. I really appreciate you going to the trouble of restoring your daughter's Jetta's headlight in real time and keeping the dialogue plain spoken and to-the-point. I'm now convinced I can try my hand at this with results that won't be too disastrous (worst case), and much improved headlight visibility (best case). Thank you again :-)
772customs,Thanks for the video. The product worked just as you demonstrated. Haven't seen those headlamps in years, and I was amazed.
AWESOME!!! Thank you for uploading this. I just passed it up in the store figuring I'd get it another time. You doing that just changed my mind. Excellent job!!!
Intrickit27 I'm glad you liked the video. Thank you for sharing it.
2011 Honda Odyssey. Just had Maaco paint the van and needed the headlights done for my wife. The only thing I did different was use the little sponge for the protectant. The liquid got all over my hands and is very sticky as it dries. Get it on with just a few swipes and let it dry. If you make a mistake like me, just reapply quickly and your done. My wife loved the final product. Thanks!!!
I always recommend using nitrile gloves when using various chemicals
Robert, thanks for a clear and to the point instructional vid. Meguiar's makes a really good product. Thank You Sir!
I just used the medium two step kit. Worked really well. The headlights were completely milky looking and now it’s a night and day difference. Took about 40 minutes to do both including putting on the layers of clear coat.
Great instructional video. Simple & to the point with an excellent demonstration. I give it a big thumbs up. Now I'm going to go polish the headlights on the wife's car.
Less than 10 minute job. Awesome brother!
I wanted to thank you for taking time to post this. I hadn't done my wife's Cougar Z for 2 years, and the box doesn't have instructions, it just says "see inside box for instructions". I was unsure on the sandpaper grit, but you made it easy to follow. I forgot how easy this was for the fantastic results. Her lens were almost white, and honestly, they look like new now. Including the taping (her Cougar has wrap around headlights which guessing are about 2X the size of the VW you are doing in the video), it only took about 20 minutes from going out to the driveway to putting the box away. I won't worry as much about her being able to see driving at night now. thanks.
+loraljohnson I am glad the video was able to help you and thanks for watching and commenting!
Those are the clearest restored head lights I've seen , thanks for the video
robert barragan Thank you!
Thanks for the tutorial. You gave me a great idea in which i can help my teenager make some extra cash by buffing people's headlights in the neighbor.. Thank you and God Bless
U deserve an award for being straight forward all the other tutorials are a waist of time
Great video! On 3/31/19 I did my accord and my bro's Lincoln. They both came out awesome. I can actually see my headlights shine on the ground and farther out
Meguires really worked well. I was sceptical at first but always knew Meguires products are awesome. Restored my 2002 taurus headlights to about 95%.
I don't know how many times you have done this, but you look very experienced. Thank you for passing on the knowledge.
I worked for a company where we restored headlights and this was pretty much how we did it. They taught us to always start with the highest grit but I learned to look at the light diagnost it and start with what ever grit it needed. Nissan lights,Ford light and Honda accord light always gave us problems.they were always so thick
First off I bought one of these kits from Meguiars some years ago and it did not work at all. Then I found a video on You Tube that worked and worked great and easy. If your like just about every man in the world own one of those 4 inch sanders and a red shop rag and some Meguiers liquid rubbing compound, wrap the rag around the sander and liberally apply the rubbing compound and let the sander work all of that junk off it takes about five min and then use a good polish after and they look like new. No kit required.
👍🏾good job, good demo of this Meguiars kit, the headlights came out great. Most importantly safer to drive at night with more light projection. Hey compound the body and it's a great daily driver
Thanks for watching! It is a good daily driver.
I did one headlight using the drill attachment and found that to be a bit cumbersome. I ended up splattering compound everywhere. But in the end, the lens looked just like new. The other headlight I forego the buffer and used just the compound and cloth. So whaddayaknow it works well without the buffer! You don't need a lot of elbow grease either. Let the sandpaper and compounds do the work. Amazing product, I highly recommend it.
It's not gonna splatter everywhere if you're only using nickle sized drops of it on the buffing wheel like you're supposed to. If you glob it on, then yeah, it's gonna splatter everywhere.
Nice job...the first no nonsense no drama video...EXCELLENT...
Since the Directions on the box are vague as can be, I did some quick research. Watched this video and helped alot! Quick warning though that final step is where you don't want to get any liquid protector coat on the paint of your car. Took the clear coat right off my bumper where I splashed a bit.
Mothers aluminium and rim cleaner , used a cloth buffer that attaches to a drill , no prep required, no taping , takes 1 minute per light . cheap as chips . Lasts for about 10 months
You should’ve got a HR headlight restoration best headlight cleaning kit I’ve ever seen and it’s guaranteed!
Watching this again one year later, restoring my headlights again.
Doing this tomorrow. Couldn't have asked for a better tutorial. Thanks bud!
Aaron Vincent Thanks for watching.
PS It worked very well.
That's awesome.
you couldn't have done this better! Awesome vid. I'm about to do mine right now.
+cinoa48 I hope it work for you as well as it worked for me. Thanks for watching
+cinoa48 How did it go? I want to do mine, but I'm scared of damaging them.
oh mak aku patah hati lagi
Videos like this save Hrs off of the trial and error...Great Thanks...
I just saw your video today..got the same kit & hit the lights on my accord. I thank you for the video & tips, the kit provided good results..thanks again.
+Hamid Elayyat Thanks for watching and I'm glad the video was able to help you out.
Simple, straight-forward and clear demo. Thank you.
Damn man yu really brought them boys back! Thanks for the video!
Awesome ..thanx bro..watching this from malaysia, south east asia.
ahmadyusof 949 salam boss..dah try buat ke ?
They recommend sanding horizontally (not circularly) for the 1000 grit and vertically for the 3000 grit.
For the final step they provide a pad and recommend overlapping side to side wiping, not circular.
Word of advice: wear gloves when applying the protectant, it's a powerful solvent that jacks up your fingertips!
I used a 3m kit and it was just as good. 3m was 500/800 3000 than compound. I sprayed a non yellowing clear after to protect it and it looks like new. If you don't spray clear its gonna oxidize again in few months. The clear is the most important part.
what clear coat did you use?
+Jason Hite u can use any as long as its finish is not yellow. I used duplicolor.
Mark Halvorsen
Even with a non yellowing clear they will still yellow and oxidize , I recommend never using clear as they look good and do last longer but will break down over time making the sanding process almost impossible to do down the road by hand and will never look good again.
I was reading that putting a 3m clear film is better than spraying clear. The clear spray will add glare to the headlight at night... the clear film wont, plus you can take it off later in the future and re apply if needed.
Wow is all I can say! Great job. I'll definely be trying this once I buy that kit.
Glad i ran across your channel, full of usefull info. This one with the headlight retso is gonna save me between 75 to almost 300 bucks on new headlights. Subscribed to see if you ever have anymore Lerado vids. Just bought one, an 03 and ive had Cherokees but in mid 90s, so ill be lookibg for help on this one lol.
Bought this today. Did this today. Satisfied. Thank you for the video.
I used the Meguiars Heavy Duty in the yellow box. If you have ANY oxidation you are going to have to sand the light with 1000 & 3000 grit sand paper and then polish it with a polish liquid, then clean with glass cleaner and then you must apply a clear coat. That is it. That is all there is to it. No matter the product you are going to be doing the same things. You can easily sand by hand. It is just plastic and you are just using a very lightly abrasive grit of 1000 to start and 3000 to finish and buff it out. Hand sanding is all you need. Easy peasy.
Thanks for uploading this video it look easy and you explain yourself clearly nice job 👍
That is awesome… Beats the hell out of the toothpaste method. Thanks for that tutorial 👍🏼
Thanks for the video! Just did mine today and ur instructions helped a lot!
Quick, simple, no nonsense. Thanks🙏
looks awesome!! I'm sold on the maguires kit!! i tried a 3m kit once, and it was ok. i like the polishing pad maguires uses.
Great video! In and out. I wish more videos were like yours thank you!
Maguire really work. I used it on my Honda and I could see much better at night!
Thanks. I just used the same kit. Probably spent a bit more time sanding and the lights can out perfect on my 2002 Taurus.
I just did it, to our three cars and it worked GREAT!!!!
Jerry
They cloud right back up after a few months. I did this twice and they looked factory new... for a little while. Great kit to use when you are selling the car. Nothing makes a car look old and shitty like cloudy headlights.
Perhaps you did not put a final clear coat layer on top after you finished polishing them
The sanding and polishing only smoothed out the lens and removes the oxidation and yellowing
The clear coat is what prevents the oxidation from reoccurring
It’s not permanent forever but it should last about a year depending on weather conditions and if you’ve ever reapplied more clear coat a few months after you did it the first time
How does one give this video a thumbs down? 🤦🏻♂️ keep up the good work, brother 💪🏼
To follow up on my earlier post; it works as advertised. I am absolutely pleased with the results.
Great presentation. Sold me on the product. Thanks.
Great job Robert. Thanks for the video and the pointers. I am headed out now to buy a kit and do it to a 2001 PT Cruiser.
+FrBob Hudson gm Please let me know how it works for you. Thanks for watching
All done. Worked line a champ. Simple, clear directions and the 2001 PT Cruiser headlights are 'good as showroom new" and there is enough of the 2 compounds left to do at least 10 more headlamps.
FrBob Hudson gm I'm glad it worked for you like it did for me. Yes there is enough to do plenty more headlights.
Good video thanks. The only thing I'd do differently is I wouldn't use a paper towel because of the wood pulp.
Nice and simple, getting my kit tomorrow.
Good job man, you might wanna use a little clear spray paint after you are done, coz basically you removed the clear coat which is UV protectant
That was gone after years of use on the road, this is brining back the clarity of the lenses since they were already breaking down and oxidized
Even without doing troublesome things ~
I first wiped with diesel oil, for a headlight
If you polish with compound, it will become shiny!
Best kit on the market no doubt
Great job
Short and simple straight to the point awesome
Still $20 bucks at Amazon that is cheap but Meguiars is not cheap. I always liked their products!
They will look good but after 6 months to a year they will start to oxidize again. After you do this you should apply 3m clear film so it can last longer
Cerakote just came out with a headlight restoration kit that finishes with a wipe-on ceramic coating so though never have to do this again. They say it comes with a lifetime guarantee vs the best case scenario of a year or so with even Meguires kit. You can find them on Amazon under Cerakote Headlight Restoration Kit
thanks a million, doing my 06 monte carlo ss this weekend
Thanks for watching. Let me know how it works for you?
WHOLLY SMOKES!!!! AMAZING! Excellent video on instructions! My 2007 GMC 2500HD #dieselbitch is shining brightly THANK YOU!!!!
Choice! Awesome vid great product. Tried it today. Absolutely AMAZING 👌would recommend to all ✌️
thumbs up it worked and you inspired me to make my own buisness on headlight restoration thank you so much i make 50 buck every time i do this
Thanks for the demo. I'm going to try this on my Sprinter headlights.
Thanks for watching
I did the same thing as here on my '03 Accord. It is is fairly clear for a while, but the UV damage is deeper than the surface, so they will never be like new.
The older the vehicle, the more likely you'll never get all the oxidation out.
Thanks I'm definitely going to use this on my 05 Jetta
dang... i just did mine today and should have seen your vid first before i restored my civic headlights.. it turned out great but next time i'll do same as you did
Another option is what ChrisFix did on his PT cruiser, both ways work tho :)
Leviathan Eldigren chris fix is permanent solition this one is temp would last 6 months top
Dont do what Chris Fix did, use a kit that comes with proper products for plastic protection, using a clear coat is not a smart option but go ahead, see you in month when you visit a professional polish service
Rob Wilson stfu
That easy huh.... gonna try it today , thanks !
Be careful when applying the headlight protection at the end because it can leave a permanent smear if you don’t follow the directions. The finish on this product is excellent!
thanks for the great video I'm going to have to buy this kit thanks again buddy
No messing, well done good job done. 👍😊
I used this kit and went strictly by the directions. Yes, the headlights look brand new in the daytime, but go for a ride when it`s dark and get out and look at your headlights. The scratches are still there.
Good video. You suggested that the last step was like waxing a car. Actually I think it is more like putting sun screen on when we are in the sun. I suspect it is a UV screen....but what do I know.
I recommend going up and down and side to side on the sand paper but i mean whatever works for you
Some dude charged me 40 to do this , found out about this kit and this works like magic .
AWESOME!!! Thank you for uploading this.
Good job👍 only thing is you removed the protection coat,so now there is no protection on it,still a good job.i do that very often on cars but the i bring it back to p6000 and give it 2 coats of a soft type clearcoat,to put the protection back on it for a long lasting finish.
Awesome tutorialq, now how long after the treatment is done does it last.
Very precise and perfect....
I use water a 1000 grid sand paper and a crystal clear paint bottle for headlight or /white diomonds
