Brother, the struggle was real 😂🤜🤛⚔️ This one’s not for everybody, but I really really like it. Glad you do too! Do you have any other knives by the James brand?
I enjoy your eclectic choice of knives and scales. It's nice to see something different and see more of the knives and packaging during your vids. The unboxing of this knife was real. Look forward to your vids and wisdom.
I got mine yesterday! It's also my first TJB knife. My first combo blade. My first 12C27 blade. My first slide lock. My first lightweight SMALL knife. But man... The design spoke to me just like you mentioned. I'm gonna be giving it a test this coming week when not at work. If you loosen that single pivot screw just a hair, that opening/closing action is perfect. I'm new to the knife carry community so I was happy to finally see the unboxing come out! Thanks! You've pretty much confirmed the way I already feel about this knife. Lol 👍
YES! @christian - so thankful for your comment. I love this little knife. Which color combo did you get? I think I’ve finally mastered the spidey flick, and I’ll definitely fuss with that pivot. Was really fun to put the first RUclips video on the Redstone out there. WELCOME to the knife community!
@@herosticks thanks very much! Again, just like you, I kinda thought those coral/torquoise colors were feminine looking but I went that route regardless. It's awesome looking! The whole reason behind me getting this knife was to be bold and check out something totally new. And it is. But is awesome. I think of the colors like a super clean looking bubblegum scheme. Its a pretty fun design for what it is. Also, in my opinion reverse/Spydie flicking my knives open is way more fun. Lol thanks again! You definitely gained a subscriber here 😎
Woot!! Yeah it’s definitely got a bubble gum feel, the polypropylene scales are a completely new effort from what I understand. I can’t get over how lightweight it is. I think I’m gonna try out the JB Carter next. Have you checked out the Blade Junkie yet? He has a great show and a bunch of us watch his live show Thursday Night Knives. You should join us!
@@herosticks I typically carry a Leatherman K4 for work (and most of EDC use since it's familiar and utilitarian) so this was radically different for me! haha I haven't heard of that but I'll definitely check it out. Thanks for the reference! I appreciate that.
Live theatre is better, you know! You love the uniqueness of this knife, and I (we viewers, I'm sure) love the uniqueness of your perspective and RUclips content. Thanks for putting it together!
It’s a unique piece, that’s a fact! According to me the James Brand is al about design, look at this packaging as an example. And they sure know how to design! This one looks like a novelty, great color combination. I am also quite a fan of the looks of the Carter, which seems to be available in two sizes these days. Only problem to me is, there are more functional knives with better materials, for less money. But it’s a nice find mate, thanks!
@bert - Cheers! Good insight my friend. The Carter XL is 3.3 inches, if I get another James Brand it’ll probably be that one. I’ve not used VG-10 before.
This review is a little clumsy. I didn’t know how to open the box and the James Brand spring lock was a new one for me. After fidgeting with this little spark-plug of a knife for a while, it’s dialed. Fun and snappy and so different. When looping my ring finger through the lanyard, deployment with a Spidey flick, and a thumb flick, is golden, crisp and consistent. And, I pulled the tab instead of slicing the package open 😂😂😂⚔️
Super light. It looks like the handle is super grippy. Like you wouldn’t worry about dropping it if you pull it out while hanging off the side of a cliff.
James brand is awesome have about everyone of their knives in my collection including this one as of a couple days ago . It loosens up perfectly after a couple of days . The James brand is definitely not for everyone especially those with a narrow view on life lol
Thank you so much for commenting, what’s your favorite knife in the JB lineup? I’m thinking about getting the Carter next. Love the Barnes but that $599 tag is heavy. 🤙⚔️
I’m saving for the Barnes lol but I agree it’s a lot I’d say 400 maybe but nonetheless I’ll eventually get it. I like the carter a lot the feel , size and functionality is perfect . Also the Folsom is great 👍
didn't know fisher price also makes knives now😂 sounds harsh but this knife has many perks i hate about a bad knife; the action looks crampy and the thumb hole looks hardly accessible, combo-grind on a small blade, non-reversible clip (or is it?) crazy price for what you get in terms of materials and a design that looks like it was made by a toddler. your trm and the sp looked great though!
It's an ergonomic nightmare, with horrible action and manipulation as you experienced trying to open it a bunch of times unsuccessfully. A knife should be intuitive to open at the very least to knife people. Plus it's worse materials than all the great budget brands at a significantly higher price. It doesn't feel good in the hand at all. It's a knife to take advantage of non knife people that want something quirky and "in". I saw the Serge and the Atom and thought, ok someone who knows good knives. Let's see if he tells the truth even after TJB sent it to him. Nope.
Hey thanks so much for commenting! I bought this myself, I don’t get stuff sent to me yet :-) the action definitely takes some getting used to, but I kind a like this little guy 🤜🤛⚔️
@@herosticks I apologize for my wrong assumption. We'll have to disagree on the knife though. It's "cute" but my first hand experience was that that was the goal more than ergos. My friend let me carry it for a few days to see if I wanted it before he returned it. But truthfully your priorities with a knife like that may be different from mine and everyone has a couple knives the keep just for the cool factor. That I do understand and that factor is much more personal. Thank you for replying to my negative comment with respect and patience. I really appreciate that.
@@herosticks I'm a remodeling contractor and right now I'm experimenting with a small fixed blade at work. Carrying a Brisa 80 Bobtail right now to see if the idea suits me before going all in on a Bradford. As far as folders I've been in a budget streak lately coming in late on the CJRB Feldspar (love it so far) Just grabbed the new tanto Honey badger in a medium. Love the blade shape, just can't use it at work because of the 8cr blade steel. And just yesterday I ordered a Griptilian sheepsfoot along with some Applied Weapons Tech scales. I had an old one given to me in 154CM, so I'm upgrading the steel and the scales. Love the old one, especially the blade shape. Just thought the handle was a bit bulbous and "plasticky".
Skip to 5:23 for the actual knife. Takes about 5 min lol
I just got mine and had the same problem unboxing 😁 great knife

@grandwest11 - Thank you so much for this encouragement, love it. And yes, I’m definitely developing an eye for fresh and unique designs 😅
I love 1/2 serrated blades just picked up the large Adamas and I absolutely love love it almost as much as your videos.
You’re so kind brother! Thank you for posting - I have wanted to check out that Adamas, I’ve never checked out a benchmade yet! Do you carry it often?
Love the two TJB knives I have
Thanks so much for commenting! Which 2 do you have? I’ve had my eye on the Carter for a couple years 😂🤜🤛 🔪

Crazy nice packaging. I wasn’t expecting it to look the way it did. Very cool.
@brandon g Yeah I’m digging the James Brand, gonna explore their line some more.
@@herosticks the only James Brand knife I was familiar with was that pricey Reate produced (integral i believe?) folder. Looked really nice though
Yes - the Barnes! Was like $599 😳
I will say two years later and my James brand knife is still in great condition haven’t had too tighten the screws at all
Happy to hear that, thanks for commenting! I really like this little knife and haven’t had to tighten it much either. 🤜🤛⚔️

That is a really funky and interesting knife! Definitely a completely unique design. Different, but I kinda dig it.
I digging it too man, didn’t expect to, but this thing is in my pocket, again, right now!! 😂
So funky man I don’t know.
@gmotion - It is super funky! But I still got it, clipped a micro flashlight to it, and threw it in my go bag, it’s a nice light little combo.

Oh I like that idea a lot! Thanks so much for commenting.
Got mine today. Cool little knife. had the same issues with the packaging and rest assured that the action will loosen up after a day or so.
@george Ruiz - nice! I’m enjoying this little guy, and definitely getting used to the spring. I LOVE how light it is.
Super light. It looks like the handle is super grippy. Like you wouldn’t worry about dropping it if you pull it out while hanging off the side of a cliff.
Exactly! The more I handle this one, the more I like it. I’m surprised!
Btw, I think that Serge Pachenko (sp?) is getting added to my want list. You’ve shown me so many blades I want to get now.
Love it! I think he’ll probably do another drop soon. The action on that thing is really something.

As usual for James, it looks neat and is a complete ripoff for the materials on offer
