Mathematically speaking he was a better heavyweight than Ali. Considering pound for pound and inch for inch Joe has an edge. Ali only told people he was the best but his record does not indicate such. He was though a very extreme self centered braggart. Joe Louis tops the greatest list concerning heavyweights per era...no question. Foreman and Tyson could have been had they stayed with the program.
