    *NOTE!*
    On 16 January, 2024 I spoke with TISASUSA. They advised that in late 2023, changes were made to the Stakeout model. It now has Novak style sites, it no longer bears "Stakeout" on the slide, and is now coated in QPQ Tenifer instead of cerakote.

    As usual, no BS and straight shooting. Actually, one of the best reviews on the Tisas that I’ve seen. Great job and nice 1911.

    I’ve had a Tisas Stakeout for about a year now. I’ve put over a thousand rounds through it. I took off the pretty wood DD grips and put on a pachmayr signature wrap around grip (like the early Meu soc guns). It had several failures to feed within the first couple hundred rounds, then no issues. It did eject brass back into my face sporadically but I fixed it by increasing extractor tension. I lube with a mixture of synthetic motor oil and red synthetic grease and clean it after every range trip. I’m not using it as a carry and vehicle gun. It’s been that good. I’m sending it out to Novak this spring to have the slide dovetailed and new sights installed. I’m been very impressed with the machining and the materials used on this pistol. I forgot to mention that mine has a very decent trigger as well. It’s 4.5lbs and has just a hint of creep before the break.

    I figured you were going to say it was a Tisas or a Girsan. I have both brands and they are very well made. The Girsan P35 clones are also very nice. I think of the Tisas as the new Norinco.

    Not only the best Tisas review, but most thorough 1911 review on the internet. I was once a big trigger snob, and back in the 70's would immediately have a trigger job done on my new 1911's and Colt revolvers. I would pay anywhere between $65 to $100, and this was back in the 70's, imagine what that is in today's dollars. Looking back, it certainly didn't make me a better shooter, as those guns already had decent factory triggers, especially my Python, really stupid spending money on a Python trigger job. Your Tisas has a heavy gritty trigger pull, but you said you will learn how to shoot with the trigger, without any custom work. Were you ever someone that did any trigger work, or did you always leave them stock?

    • @shootinitstraight4162
      @shootinitstraight4162  Год назад +1

      @gracedagostino5231
      I have never done any trigger work myself, nor have I ever had a gunsmith do it for me. I have changed out some long triggers for the shorter pad triggers on 1911's, but that was only because my trigger finger wasn't long enough for what I thought was good finger placement on it.

    Thank you for the video, and you are the first to put out a video on this model. I've been look at the stakeout after I ordered a BR9 for my nephew.
    The only thing I would change on it is the sights. But thats cause I put them on all my carry guns.

    I just bought at Christmas a 1911 in 10mm, a Taylor & Co, love it. 1st 1911 I've had in over 45 yrs. PSA had them on sale for 400, normal price is 700 an up in 10mm. I like the TISA never heard anything bad about them, but don't own one YET, LOL.

      It's my first 1911 that is not a Colt. I've had several Colts and one Remington R1, then went like 17 years without any. I'm very impressed with this $400 1911 so far. I like the 10mm, but not sure my wrists can handle much of that these days.

      @@shootinitstraight4162 I hear ya, had to sell my colt commander as a young buck fresh out of the military to pay bills an feed myself, thats why I haven't had a 1911 in the stable since, but I do now. An this ones a keeper, at least for me, but its a SD an piggy gun. Now to get a proper shoulder holster, an it came with 2 Mecgar mags, an they work perfect. You do know that factory 10mm is equal to .40 S & W, so it shouldn't be a problem to test. Now the hot loads in 10mm, yeah there rather spicey, but for a reason, thx Col Cooper. Thx Antonius

    Just discovered your channel. Tisas is a compelling brand that I think I will have to try. I've never had luck with Wilson mags. I stick to 7 rounders from Chip McCormick. Sadly they've been sold to Wilson. I hope they don't boutique-erize them like everything else he owns.

      Yes, the CMC mags are great. It's said that CMC is still It's own entity, and that WC only bought the licensing rights or something like that. At any rate, I agree that something as successful as those CMC mags should not be tampered with.

      @totljag1 Yes, I did. I think it's just a cost-saving move (less material) and keeps the weight down some. Personally, I prefer a solid onethat would be less susceptible to something like being crushed or dented. But it seems to work fine anyway.

      I've had it maybe 2 months or so now. It ran trouble free the first 100 rounds or so, then I started having a few Failure to Feed issues. I put more tension on the extractor, radiused the bottom of the hook a little, and polished the breechface. No problems after that. It's a great investment, I think. I'm very pleased with it.

You don't put out a lot of useless junk. I know a gun tuber that was putting out 2 to 3 useless repetitious videos a day, clogging up my subscription box. I had to unsubscribe from his channel.
