My local council has basically cancelled Australia Day, the only thing they are doing is a citizenship ceremony but it's private by invite only. Very sad to see that more and more councils and businesses are caving into woke pressure. I wouldn't care if it was changed to another date but I know that wouldn't make the complainers happy anyway.

I m an Australian , i like superwog usually but this one , tell me WHEN to laugh... not hap0y JAN!!!!
Some Aussies have gone 'woke' and do not wish to have Australia Day on the 26 th of January, as that is the day Captain Cook landed in Australia and invaded the land of the aboriginals. As the weather is good in our summer season and it is a holiday, most of us have a barbeque with Aussie-type of food and drink and relax and enjoy time with family and friends.
cook did not land on jan 26th nor did the first fleet
@@6226superhurricane are you sure about that Captain Arthur Phillip arrived in Botany Bay on the 23rd of January 1778 with the first fleet and then landed at Sydney Cove Point Jackson 3 days later.

Not correct it was the date Arthur Philip raised the English flag in Hobsons Bay look it up .
It's not "woke" mate, it's just recognising that celebrating colonialism is outdated. Personally I think we could rename the 26th to Invasion Day, and implement a new Australia Day on a different day - then we'd get an extra public holiday, which is the most Aussie thing to do.

Australia Day 26Jan is not the date Cook landed in Australia.
@@genie674 the 26th of January became Australia Day after July 1915 which since then the date was changed....it was done before to raise money to support WW1 troops Australia sent to Europe.. money for war but not a simple recognition not $$ for my people the First Nations people of this Country... ♥️🖤💛 I'm a proud Aboriginal woman and I also agree with my Elders who see the 26th January as Invasion Day ♥️🖤💛🦘🦘
If Australia doesn't kick off this year on Australia Day it's coming with the cancelling of the day by major food supply companies,sporting organisations and city councils 🤬
It's bloody disgraceful how our governments, large corporations and others are cancelling Australia Day. I guarantee you they'll still take the day off as a Public Holiday.
They can go fk themselves.
