    I’ve had type 1 diabetes for 14 years and I’m 23 now. Always been very active and played different sports as a kid so being diagnosed at 9 years old was quite a shock. Type 1 is autoimmune tho with no cure yet.
    From my experience with this bs here is what I’ve learned: One thing was that the younger you are the harder it is physically to (manage) the disease. Being a kid and fully active is tough with diabetes bruh.. puberty, parties, chillings, sports are all things that play a role in managing your health with insulin but as you get older and become an adult the mental health becomes more of a problem. You begin to work more, have to start paying for your meds, your energy levels are not the same and you’re more tired than usual which can affect both your mental and physical health a long the way.
    If you’re going through this disease day in and day out remember that it’s okay not to be okay sometimes but it’s not okay to stay in that phase of not feeling well cuz or else you’ll feel worse trust. My advice especially for young adults would be to talk to a psychiatrist or someone that can help you with your mental health and try to exercise regularly. That will help with the management side. Also reading books is handy too, helps distract your mind and keeps you fresh. Stay strong! LOVE YALL❤️❤️❤️❤️

      I confirm every word you wrote I am 23 and 7 months yrs old diagnosed prior to my 23rd birthday. The amount of frustration anxiety is unimaginable. It happened that I encountered a family fight and issues prior to my diabetes symptoms appeared. I am so depressed and isolated from people I dropped university and looking forward to go back sooner not later hopefully.

      I feel you! My step son has type 1 and he’s only 9 years old but I swear he’s an evil child. He throws temper tantrums all of the time and says mean things, always mean to me, his dad and his mom. I think it’s because his blood sugar is all over the place and he can’t control himself. It’s sooo hard! I too live in slight fear thinking more about the future when he’s older, going through puberty and even more aggressive. That combined with the blood sugar issues is not going to be a pretty picture. 🫣😬

I've always been very very happy go lucky and very optimistic but when the blood sugar is off it's like you're fighting yourself and you in turn fight others who may love you!!! I'm apologizing for them people need to monitor their blood sugar and eat better!!! This way we can start being assholes to the people who really love us!!!

      It's actually not worse than smoking for each person, but it's way more common than smoking, thank God. My stepmother worked in a cardiac unit and smoking is way worse than obesity for the heart, for example. That's in addition to the damage to the lungs and the cancer aspect. But obesity is terrible.

    I believe I was suffering from depression and irritability before I was diagnosed with type 2. Now that I am on Metformin along with diet and more exercise, both declined significantly. I would say I was showing signs of depression 6-7 month prior. Which was frustrating since I’ve never had to deal with depression before.

    High Bg is the confounder and is primary causal to this whole process. T1d over 35 years, nutritional scientist and degree in physcology. All roads lead to high bg, its the chicken and egg. The diet being the start to the cure for all but t1ds when the damage atm is more challenging to cure.... Not giving up on this... Fasting has a profound effect on bg control. I'm on keto or switch to lchf. Daily IF. Many OMAD also. N1 study but huge correlation links to many things.

      Type 1 is harder

    • @gastrogal5353
      @gastrogal5353 4 года назад +3

      Type 1 IS harder, but all of the commercials on TV regarding Type 2 Diabetes make it look like a walk in the park. There are so many systems throughout the entire system which can be affected over time. I think they need to do more to educate newly diagnosed Type 1’s. I ended up becoming a Type 1 one year after a nearly fatal car accident. The cascading downfall since then just keeps me going downhill fast. It is as though my diabetes is on the fast track. The doctors have explained that the trauma of the accident IS what has most likely caused my diabetes complications to show up much earlier than most. So for those of you who are Type 1, be vigilant in taking great care of yourself. I have learned how important water consumption is so that you do not become dehydrated - which can spike your sugars. Getting sick to your stomach for more than six hours with high blood sugars means you need to go the ER as you do not want to slip into a case of Diabetic Ketoacidosis (left untreated this can lead to coma and/or death). Gastroparesis is a complication which mimics the flu, so if you feel sick for weeks go see a Gastroenterologist and ask for testing. This can mess with the blood sugars as your stomach is slow to empty which can make your sugars go low. Then later they go high once the food finally makes it’s way out of the stomach. This is also and autonomic condition which can lead to problems above and below the stomach. The esophagus can start shutting down. The muscles in the pelvic reason shut down which can lead to incontinence. Turns out this can be called a “diabetic bladder”. What? My urologist having worked with me for 4 years with meds, physical therapy, and even surgery to get a pacemaker for the bladder has not helped. So that is when I was told that diabetics are sometimes known to produce more urine than most people, so they say the urine then “spills over”. Also, get your bloodwork done as often as able. I have only mentioned that which I have dealt with and continue to deal with. I am sharing all of this as so that you can learn what to be aware of. Most Type 1’s do NOT deal with all of this, my trauma from the accident is what has put all of this in motion for the last 15 years. I give thanks daily to the internet for a place of knowledge and I always end my sessions with funny videos, or singing videos, etc. Anything so I can be at peace for the rest of the day. I have also been dealing with Major Depressive Disorder, Anxiety and PTSD all to keep my chronic pain company. But I have great boyfriend and we have a lovely home with 2 dogs and I have learned that being home alone is actually quite nice. My life was spent on high speed before the accident, so I have learned to let others help me and to know when I need extra help. Also, one last thing I recently learned - your insurance may give you a Nurse as a Case Manager if you DO end up with a lot of complications. This has been a godsend for me. So keep up the good work, take great care and thank you Dr. for posting this video.

Sometimes we need to drop family and friends. I stop being a people pleaser. Go out in nature, drop bad habits, be mindful. I have this say " i can read all the self help books, but the question i ask myself is how am i feeling right now and what can i do about it? Took me a long time to get where i am now. Thoughts are things. Take care.

      @@00kidney You can be strong for so long, this disease can be very difficult there’s more to it than just the diet and exercise, trying to manage it daily, can be mentally draining for some. Remember we’re not all the same, it effects everyone differently and it depends on your doctor to and what kind of support you get from them, and your family and friends. It’s the same when you go through losing a loved one if the support isn’t there it makes it 10 x harder, to deal with. I’ve been there with diabetes and losing my mom 3 years after my diabetes diagnosis, I was doing really good with my diabetes then after my wonderful mom passed away from Cancer within a few months from when we found out she had cancer, I was a mess, my diet went out the window, I was very overwhelmed that my mom died, it was such a sudden loss. I really needed even more support living with diabetes and going through a significant loss, the grief was intense. I didn’t feel like doing anything I was devastated. There was no support for a diabetic going through such anguish. At that time I was dealing with severe shoulder injury and lower back issues, so exercising was nonexistent, I gained most of my weight back. Now dealing with the same shoulder but a different injury, and ongoing back issues, where is the help, nobody gives a damn about ppl with any type of diabetes, you can’t just take a holiday from it when life hits you hard, I have so much stress from trying to heal from my moms passing and dealing with pain and diabetes. I get very upset when ppl say you can do it, lots a ppl have diabetes ect. But do they have it no they don’t, you don’t know till you walk in my shoes. Diabetes isn’t a “ walk in the park” I suffer everyday and what ppl say who aren’t diabetic have no idea, so educate yourself. And quit assuming it’s nothing. We fight everyday to manage this awful disease so we don’t get complications. And it can be very tiring. We don’t have the freedom to eat what we please, we cry a lot living with this disease we get so fustrated when are sugars aren’t on target range, we have to be always one step a head of meals. I can go on and on but ppl really don’t understand, so what’s the use. To all non diabetics treat diabetics as normal as possible and be kind🌸

    2 reasons why they are linked. The National Highway Transportation Safety administration's attitude towards type 1 diabetics and the way people treat those that have type 1 diabetes. I have felt like a criminal most of my life just because of how people regard me as too crippled to perform basic daily life activities such as driving to work, the grocery store, the pharmacy. These are tasks necessary for daily life and the ability to satisfy those needs being under constant threat certainly causes me to think that death can seem easier than going through life. So as a result I have anxiety and depression
