    The problem is that Digimon killed Bandai's grandma or something because the hate boner they have for the Digital Monsters makes no sense, the IP has such a dedicated fanbase that it manages to thrive time and time again...only for Bandai to shoot it in the foot every single time it does.

    IMO, Pokémon and Digimon could stand to learn from each other. Pokémon can be a bit too formulaic, and hits its stride when it flips the script (ie Legends Arceus). Digimon is a bit too chaotic in it’s different types of games and hits its stride when it brings us something familiar (following up Cyber Sleuth with Hacker’s Memory).

    The sad truth of the matter is that Bandai-Namco is just now realizing that there is market for new Digimon content.
    In my opinion, it's up to the fandom to take up the slack. It's much much easier said than done; but if we can Digimon Survive Fandub mod, or are our version of Shippiddge's "Starter Squad", it'll help draw attention to the brand, and give Bamco extra motivation.

    You know, it's really funny that Pokemon is being held up on a quality hill that it doesn't actually stand on. Gamefreak doesn't give a shit. Pokemon doesn't release in a good state at all these days. Sword and Shield are still broken and don't look good. Scarlet and Violet are buggy and not great either. Pokemon is the biggest most profitable media franchise in the world, and they still can't put out stable, not broken mainline games. That's worse, in my opinion, than Digimon not hitting the mark. If you are as big as Pokemon is, but you can't put out a functional game, something ain't right. In the current gaming landscape of "we can just fix it later", it makes me happy to know that some devs are still taking their time making stuff.

    Another thing with Digimon games is the amount of different variants, variety is a good thing but the consistency of the formula of the variety is also important, we have digimon world, and then digimon world 2, both digimon but completely different variants, you got the dungeon formula with random generated dungeons which pokemon copied years down the line with pokemon mystery dungeon, now if you loved digimon world 1 and you played digimon world 2 their concepts are vastly different in gameplay formula, then you look at another game digimon world 3 it's like the pokemon games but more open world to a degree, it keeps changeing so when you get asked what is digimon like you can't really explain it simply because of how much it changes and then digimon world 4... love it or hate it but that was an even wilder stretch in gameplay formula to it's predecessors.
    pokemon has kept consistent in it's formula so when someone asks about pokemon you can simply explain what the game is like, sure there's spin offs but they appeared later in more variety but everybody knows what pokemon is and was and that builds fans, because digimon constantly changes you have so many seperated boxes of players which causes so much conflict in the community some loved digimon world 2's formula some loved 3's or 1's some even loved 4's but in terms of carrying a fan across to another game, it lost alot of people because it keeps changeing soo much all the time losing fan retention as some fans who loved the previous might hate the new style of gameplay but they're all called digimon world, so you'd think they are the same but they're not. I could say more but...
    It would go on too long and this is enough text to sit through

    Honestly, Jam, you're right. I love Digimon so much, but the release schedule is so slow that I often lose track of it! If it wasn't for Cybersleuth, I don't think I'd still be playing Digimon games. That game popped up and I was like "I haven't done Digimon in so long! I loved these monsters as a kid, let's go!" and I experienced a rush that not a lot of series make me feel. I love Digimon. Let me throw money at this company so I can go on more adventures with my Lopmon, dang it! I play Pokemon because my friends and family all are into it, but trying to convince them to give Digimon a shot kinda... isn't working out at all.
    I really want a game that brings back the Digidestined formula for the story, where you make your own kid and do a personality test to see which Digimon and what crest you get. And you adventure with either other all new Digidestined or the original team to defeat, uhh, EvilDarkEmpermon or whatever. Captain Tsubasa is a soccer RPG my husband really loves because in that game you make your character and you get to make friends with other kids in that show, and he grew up with those characters. I want that same feeling he gets from Captain Tsubasa, but with my childhood favorite anime: Digimon!! :D

      I liked Survive because I like VNs, but goodness the battles were a slog. Next Order is okay, I guess. It's not the great adventure I can share and go "this! this is why I'm into Digimon!"
      A friend told me "but you're into Final Fantasy and every one of those games is super different" and I said with a sigh, "if you don't play Digimon, you really have no idea what this is like."

    • @nekukurora197
      @nekukurora197 11 месяцев назад +1

      Nah, I mean four years isn't that long to develop a video game. Most ips had this kind of wait before the recent push to force games out the door as quickly as possible. I think if you're going to have the kind of release schedule you're talking about you need like at least four different studios working at the same time, and even then, I would maybe have a two year wait between games.

    • @nightwolf235
      @nightwolf235 11 месяцев назад +1

      I mean the ideal would be what they were originally planning.
      Which was have one full team work on Digimon Story games, One team work on Digimon world games, the other work on Digimon survive series. They would each release a game around a year or so apart so that we get something within like 1-2 years apart.
      Cyber sleuth hit the USA 2016
      Next order hit 2017
      Hacker’s memory hit 2018
      Survive hit 2022 due to covid and production hell.
      So I feel like the frustration that we as fans have is that we gotten the same 3 games re-released twice on us. The complete edition of Cyber sleuth and hackers memory. Then the re-release of next order with a speed up function that the original needed.
      Then we get slapped in the face with the Digimon cons and get told if you really want the old games as ports or remaster let us know :D……. Like we havent been bothering them and bombarding them with the ummm yeah we do want those games. Hell remaster or port over Redigitize Decoded and send it over here to us.
      Then we get hit with oh we gonna use money and focus on trailers and an light novel that uses machine translation to translate for non native speakers….. Bandai be hitting us with them fuck yous so hard that its painful to be a fan

  • @ChronoShadow69
    @ChronoShadow69 11 месяцев назад +9

    If we're gonna compare the two Mon franchise, I've said it before: What Digimon lacks is a solid Core. I love that they experiment, I LOVE that there's room for games like Survive AND games like Next Order... But if you asked anyone, fan or otherwise, what the MAIN line of Digimon games are? Where the core is? What, Digimon World? Buddy that franchise has been a tamagotchi simulator, a dungeon crawler with a tank, a jrpg, an arcade hack and slash, a collectathon, and THEN some!
    You KNOW a mainline pokemon title when you see it, versus a spin-off or experimental side project. Can we say the same for Digimon? Do we have anything that we've worked on, polished, gone back to and improved, and reliably called our core series? A tree that's all branches is a bush, and a bush can be nice, but it will NEVER reach those heights the tree can.

    • @Argonisgema
      @Argonisgema 10 месяцев назад

      Month late but i believe its core is selling merchandise. its like anime. I'm pretty sure the manga is more important for sales as the anime is more so used as a way to sell the manga.
      "Oh your fave anime has stopped at season two? Well if you get the manga you'll find the story is already 4-5 seasons ahead so you can just get the manga and get your story fix there."
      like from another point of view if digimon's core is merch then one could say it would be more important to but those digimon tomogatchi wrist toys i forget the name of cause that was the original point of the franchise right? you get a toy that you use to take care of your little mon.
      I like the games but maybe we all are focusing on the wrong part of the franchise and that may be why we all think the franchise is stalling for so long.

Imagine a game that comes with a Digivice that can be connected to your game and is used for evolution (With the quality of a SCSA Digivice...). The biggest problem with Digimon games are 2 things:
    (1) The small scale of playable Digimon inside the actual games we always seem to get, like after Card Battle or Digimon World 2 it started
    (2) That a great deal of Digimon games didn't even leave Japan's borders, so people don't even know that Digimon is split in "Digimon World" (Tamagochi) and "Digimon RPGs"...unless you are part of the emulation squad

    I understand what your saying. I do. The only thing that really makes sense to me... is that the next Story game must be in development hell. I know nobody likes that word and hearing that... but it's the ONLY thing that makes sense to me for why it's taking so long. I get the pandemic delayed things but that's no longer an excuse that can be used (IMO at least). It's either that... or development had to start over from the beginning so it could be made for PS5 instead of PS4 because PS4 isn't the current console generation. That's even worse. Also... Bamco aren't going to give out the money for english dubs of Digimon games anymore. They just aren't. Survive is a prime example of this. They are barely doing english dubs as it is with their current games that aren't named SAO, Tales of, or the occasional anime or fighting game. I still feel like Bamco are TRYING to kill the Digimon franchise as a whole due to the fact that they are SAO simps, and want to do nothing but anime games and fighting games. But this is just obviously only how I feel and I've made that clear several times already in comments and on the Discord and I don't like sounding like a broken record so I'll say nothing further on this.
    Pokemon fans do nothing but complain because they get a bunch of games but then complain about issues and framerate and graphics. So they are fed well and still complain about how much they are fed. But Digimon fans are expected to wait close to a DECADE for an actual next game. It is what it is I guess.
    If we don't get something from Digimon Con 2024 (which is my expectation at this point but I hope I'm wrong) then forget it. Digimon games are either fully dead and Bamco succeeded in killing the franchise or we hope for something in 2025. My belief is we are going to be expected to wait until 2025 at minimum. Unfortunately. But time will tell.
    I wish I had better news. I do. But this is just the situation. Bamco won't give out the money for english dubs of Digimon games anymore and they are potentially actively trying to kill the franchise for good (along with .hack and Klonoa) and we are being expected to wait close to a decade just for ONE Digimon game. They won't even give updates anymore and we were given YEARLY updates on Survive. It's concerning. To say the least. They fact they won't give an update on the next Story game... tells me it's either in development hell or it had to start over from the beginning for PS5 instead of PS4. And mobile games don't cut for me either. I don't like them and there are too full of microtransaction garbage. But again this is just me.
    So yeah. It sucks. I don't mean to seem doom and gloom but I'm just matching the vibe of this video I guess. Or how I perceived it I guess.
    It is what it is. I guess. Even I hate saying that though. Everyone claims Digimon is thriving but it's really not if you ask me. It might be closer to death than ever before. You win Bamco I guess. You finally got your wish. Jerks.
    Or not. idk. Sorry. I'm just matching what I felt from this video. Or just my personal interpretation of it.

    We need a Digimon world game, and I mean a whole World. Starting on File Island (tutorial) and then moving onto other continents, continents should be anime season themed. They can start with file island and then give us DLCs with the continents. As for game play (and even co-op) I wouldn't mind active battle like in the Borderlands games, you can take control of your partner digimon or give him commands DMW1 style, and if you play as a Digimon you can tell the human that you need a hp or mp disk or that you want to digivolve into another form, keeping it active both ways. Also a connected game app with mini games, let the digimon partner train or hunt for items (item hunt automatic or manual in DMW2 dungeon and exploring style). Co-op should have DNA digivolution attacks like in DMW3, and mega levels can be normal or fused with partner Tamers style. Human can also use digimon cards for boosts or special attacks. And the game should also be playable in VR. Add to this comments if I missed other cool stuff to add to the game 😂

      Naturally the graphics of the world should be higher quality but still have the digital world charm, but bigger world is more important then super realistic graphics. And there can be tournaments with other players or a battle royal where you can participate against others. You can also find cards and battle NPCs or other players in a card battle. I will probably one day buy Cyber Sleuth + Hackers Memory for Switch as well, just for the collection and maybe that will support the Digimon Franchise. I have them both on PS4 digital as well but playing on the switch is so much more fun.
    I love Digimon but these mf just keep hurting us with Games that are not consistent. All of them are good and have a target audience but the target audience changes with every single new release...
    Digimon World 1-4 all are different games and have nothing to do with each other. Then why call them 1, 2, 3, 4? The later generations at least get their specific "Digimon Story" or "Digimon World" title, which helps with seperating the genre. But if we only get like 1 game every 5 years... Also, don't sleep on World games. They also need to be tightened up, but if we could balance that style....THATS a true digimon game IMO

    It helps they CAN'T poop out games like they used to. No once can. During the PS1 development time was measured in months, but now a days they're measured in years. A few months ago I was reading that during the next console generation AAA games will likely have a development cycle of 6-8 years.
    Games just take longer to make.
    You say that Pokemon games have adapted, that they're taking longer to make... but have they?
    Since the game boy days, a generation of Pokemon has always lasted 3-4 years. They aren't giving their games proper development time, and that's one of the big reasons why Scarlet / Violet is in such a poor state. They're at critical mass and can't maintain the same development cycle that worked 20 years ago when games were a fraction the size and complexity they are now.

      @@Jamm3r You're not wrong either. It's wild to me how Bandai tries to brand itself as "premium," and don't get me wrong, a lot of the merch is really high-quality stuff, but why doesn't that quality seem to extend to their video games? You raise some keen points when you mention that Digimon basically hasn't had anything on modern hardware except Survive and Rumble Arena, and maybe that plays a bigger role in the odd quality than I'm giving it credit for, but whatever is going on you're also right that this next story game... we've got high expectations for it.
      Not gonna lie though, I can't be too mad at their pipeline. If they made games faster I probably never would have found Big Jam. I came across you while desperately searching for scraps of news about Survive during that odd limbo where we didn't even know if the game was cancelled or still coming.
      Yeah, I can't be... TOO mad :P They still gotta step it up though.

    Digimon always has been my Guilty pleasure as Kid, Teen and even as adult, the First Digimon World game really clicked with me and it pains me to see with each game they seem to miss the mark as it sometimes feels like it's getting close.
    The new digimon world games are fun and it had some fun easters for the fans but so much of the game was way below par that it looked like it could run on the ps2.
    I feel if they just grab any fan of the digimon games and ask him for tips and do like 40% of them you will have a 10x better digimon games, the stuff it's lacking often are so obvious it feels like the developers are still stuck in the 90's without the creativity.

    If you pay attention, you can notice that this man is slowly losing his sanity after every passing minute of this video :v
    The problem with Digimon is Bandai. They act like the child isn't theirs. They don't wanna invest on it, they don't want to advertise it, they don't wanna put merch about it in their own shops, they act like they don't want anything to do with it, but let them exist cause they're basically self-sufficient.
    I thought things were getting better with Survive and the Card Game, since they actually put some effort to market those, especially near Survive release, but other than the social media pages, it kinda died off.
    Sincerely, I don't even know if I want them to care, cause right now Digimon is in a spot where they can take their time and pretty much do anything they want with their budget, even if it's not great. And every time the Bandai higher ups get involved with this IP, something goes wrong.

      To be honest, I don't know. If the next Story game does really well, they might start caring, but we also run the risk of having Digimon being put in the center of attention of the investors. Which will likely poison their development cycle, creativity and the freedom on what they're allowed to have on their games.
      All we can do right now is wait and hope they just let Habu and the team do whatever they want regardless. But even now he doesn't have full control on the projects.
      As he said during the time Bandai USA had Sistermon Noir censored, he has no control on how the game releases in the west.

    One, The Main One, Bandai for some reason beyond my comprehension thought hey you know how that Nintendo game Pokemon that's about making friends and battling monsters is doing so well, and we have one like that. Let's not put any effort into it.
    Two, Digimon never set into a iconic style for their games, and this led to people just seeing it as a Pokemon rip off. I now the V-Pet style doesn't ring with everyone, but they could make spin-offs, and overtime refine the V-Pet style to be more accessible.

    The big thing with Digimon games is they so rarely are consistent between them. If they spent the last 25 years refining the gameplay and new user experience from digimon world 1 over the course of several titles instead of trying completely different systems each time, I honestly think they would be in a much better place in terms of relevancy. The fact that in the west we didnt get a game with a similar gameplay style to world 1 until 2016 with next order is crazy.

Survive tries to get on that tactics genre, NO came after Arceus and Cyber sleuth is, well, a JRPG. But they should ask their core audience what they want really. Pokemon always stays in it's lane for their main entries while spinoffs get that niche. Digimon is just... everywhere. But I'm glad that Cyber sleuth came out even as it's a very solid game. I feel something that's been good and bad for Digimon, is it's variety. Both from the shows to the games. Like starting season 3 Digimon started every season being new group, couple new digimon. It's good it keeps things fresh each season trying new things to bring to the table. Or the games having a variety of genres. A visual novel, a monster collector ala Pokémon, a brawler, a battle pet simulator. It's nice seeing different approaches to the games. It's not like Pokémon you already know the same thing going in.
    But that variety lies a big issue, an issue of consistency. Pokémon has a lot of success from the show and the toys especially. Kids latched originally go Ash and his journey, and each season following him to the next chapter. Seeing the new region new Pokémon etc. Causing kids to want to get all said merch and all said games to follow suit. Digimon doesn't have that same crank out system. Sometimes there's gaps between a new show or movie, or hell even new merch. So quickly that attention is dropped to what's next.
    I feel between the two franchises, Digimon has always been for the more die hard the devoted. Because we'd all be on stand by for the next dropping of news whether it be new figures or plushes, to a new game. You gotta bear through the trenches a bit.

    When it comes to Pokémon there's such a thing as "too much". I have more of an appreciation when Digimon does get a new game. I don't want Digimon to be the same as Pokémon where there's just too much to keep up with. I don't think a photo realistic Digimon would be good. As long as it has its own style I think it's fine. Only reason why we had a lot of Digimon games back in the day is because development costs weren't like how they are now including reusing assets from other Digimon games speeding up dev time. They reused models for the PS1 and PSP games including reusing models in the recent games. For the DS titles they reused the sprite work for nearly all the games that were released for the system. As a fan of both Pokémon and Digimon since the 90s I'm very disappointed with Pokémon in recent years. Digimon had always done its own thing and it should stay that way. I don't want a new game in the same frequency as Pokémon. I'd much rather them release a game whenever they want.

    • @Jamm3r
      @Jamm3r  11 месяцев назад

      You bring up great points, but the problem is their actions are multifaceted. The lack of games, at this point, barley equates to anything positive besides a lack of care/trust/confidence in the IP.
      I'm usually the first to white knight companies for no good reason, but they've shown me enough to understand they don't see the digimon IPnas valuable as we do.
      ...my point being tbh, Digimon will never output to the same capacity as pokemon - they can't. Not many companies (if any?) can even keep up...so I'm not worried about that at all for now
      We'll see what happens moving forward after this next Story game. To your point about reusing assets I think that's exactly what this next story games purpose is for....to get assets to a base that will last them years so development doesn't take as long

    From my experience playing Digimon games.
    It feels kinda weird people keep saying Cyber Sleuth is like really great modern Digimon game but even though I like it I don't think it's great. It's good yea but not that good. I feel like I am bored for a lot of the time after I graduate from early game. The same can be said for Hacker's memory.
    Now weirdly playing Next Order, I have a lot of fun...A lot more fun than Cyber Sleuth and Hacker's memory. Even though I am doing basically the same thing. Only way I can think of that can explain this is that they have different way of making us do it that just clicks with me more. Despite doing the same thing, but one is boring and one is not, this is not contradiction as it is not done in the same sense.
    So then I keep wondering why...In what Sense does Digimon Next Order do better in my opinion compared to Cyber Sleuth? It definitely does, in a sense that it is better for my preference, not better objectively for everyone. But how does it do it?
    And I remember that the reason I even into Digimon in the first place was Digimon world's way of raising the pets. I felt the same excitement and joy in World DS, Re:Digitize and Next Order...Because they give more emphasis in raising the digimon compared to Cyber Sleuth and Hacker's memory. Hell I finish Re:Digitize one time and I still remember fondly when I make my digimon block that punching machine, and I finish Hacker's Memory once and Cyber Sleuth twice and I barely remember anything about them. Re:Digitize is also older and I play it before Cyber Sleuth. Although I also barely remember anything about Digimon World since its so long ago.
    This also makes me remember that while I like Dusk and Dawn, I don't consider it as great as other people say about it. And I am glad that I can find some people who share my sentiment from time to time. And I never actually finish Dusk and Dawn so maybe my opinion isn't entirely fair.
    Don't get me wrong I enjoy all Digimon game I played, but I would love it if Digimon just stays a pet raising game instead of trying to copy other games like pokemon, which is more like catching monster game, and other rpg, like the Digimon Survive. Each Digimon game feels like it stray far too much from each other :/

Like, MOD Cape's music alone makes the game at lesst decent. It has problems, but I doubt they're issues the original World doesnt have. It just felt like a good modern World game.
    Survive I would say is good, but more niche and harder to recommend because it is a VN. I can definitely agree that while Cyber Sleuth/Hacker's Memory are great, they are very flawed on revisit.
    The lack of consistency really does hurt. Seekers is cool, but it sucks not having an anime and not knowing when the next game will be coming either. Even another port would be better than nothing in the meantime.
    The only consistency really is the card game, which I enjoy collecting because the art is great, but it can be expensive and not easy to play locally.

    Honestly the latest bigest win for digimon wasn't even in the digital format it's the card game.
    it's easy to say raise the investments, but the profit isn't there to go ham with it, that's the unfortunate reality for real.
    profit is iffy so the company can't feel safe publishing something that won't sell well that's it.

      @Jamm3r  11 месяцев назад

      Why is profit iffy?
      Regardless, they have an established, long running audience brother. Business 101 means that you can’t make more money without investing.
      Investing time, money, etc. is the only way for growth. They've seen profits - they wouldn't announce that multiple digimon games are in the works if Digimon wasn't profitable.
      It's about gradually increasing the investments each time, we don't go from 0 to 100

      @@Jamm3r bruh digimon is a niche, survive hasn't sold not even close to a million copies, people liked the game sure, but with today's dev costs I would be surprised if they broke even, the company doesn't want that scenario, it's playing with big money at that point.

    • @Jamm3r
      @Jamm3r  11 месяцев назад

      Survive is actually an interesting case. 500k copies in like 2 months?
      For a genre nobody in the world asked Digimon to do? Habu knew that. Digimon is niche mainly in the sense that its not as popular, but iirc its a 6 billion dollar IP...
      Point being this...
      1. Survive sold well for the role it was supposed to play. They did not have high expectations
      2. The fact they even made the game shows their level of flexibility and size of the IP...they CAN take risks and do random shit.
      Digimon is basically a self sustainable IP, hence why Bandai is reluctant to invest more. Survive's whole purpose was to be a side game - its not a good metric to base opinions on.
      And in reality we have yet to truly see what Digimon is capable. CS and Next Order don't count being handheld native games.
      I have a hunch things will turn around...habu says multiple games in the works and it almost shouldn't include Story since hes acknowledged it time and time again
      They have a structure and set teams to begin outputting more consistently...we'll see how things develop

    When I think back to how many DS games we got? Like 4 or 5, I know 2 more were Japan exclusive. That was good eating. And it was a formula. The games felt the same, which sucks because I like how Digimon can change their style all the time, but it was a level of consistency and improvement we never got before or after. From Digimon World DS to even Digimon Championship.

    I just want a good game man. Like, Cyber Sleuth was alright. game was easy as fuck until you decided to fight the optional side bosses, and it does nothing to help you with figuring out strats outside of "Just waste your time and prolly still fail" I get that they are super bosses, but ANY of the hard fights that Pokemon has had, you know EXACTLY how to start building a team, and what kind of moves that pokemon will likely know.
    With Digimon, we are lucky to get two games back to back that are even the same fucking genre, and by the time we get back around to something like a JRPG, its suuuuuuuper dated as fuck compared to ANYTHING in the market.
    I'd LOVE for them to just pick to a genre of game, even if its something I dont care for, like a tatics/Fire Emblem game, and just make games and get better at it.....THEN maybe make a mystery dungeon or digimon snap or some spinoff shit once you have ONE genre DOWN PAT.
    And this is all BEFORE watching the video, but sorry I gotta rant this shit gets me so heated bro. People are starting to get tired of the pokemon formula now, but atleast that shit took 30 years before it started getting stale and they had to try new things. Digimon has been trying different shit from day ONE and it still doesent know if it wants to be a trading card franchise, Anime franchise, video game franchise, FUCKING FITBITS???! ect and its been 24 fucking years, you THINK they would have SOME idea of what they want by now.
    The games are just so shallow whenever they make a game, to use cyber sleuth again.... Elemental single target skill, aoe elemental single target skill, signature skill, and items as spells (Cures, revives, status cure/stat ups). AND THATS IT. The biggest deciding factor of using a digimon is thei SIGNATURE SKILL, fuck all the other shit. Now sure it can be like that in pokemon, but theres more than like, the one water single target skill, the one aoe water skill. You have water type pokemon that cant learn all of the water type moves.
    Imagine the pokemon you could make if they had the CS evolution mechanic: can de evolve, cross species evolve, keep all learned moves to customize it, and pick like 10 of them..... now do the same for a digimon in CS: all of the highest elemental single target moves, typeless aoe move, the best stat boosting moves, a full heal, and a signature move that probably out damages all of the other dmging moves you own

    • @s3studios597
      @s3studios597 11 месяцев назад +1

      While I do agree with most of what you said (especially CS basically just boiling down to signature moves), one part I disagree with is the idea that Pokemon teaches you how to play the game or in any way prepares you for postgame. In Pokemon, you just overlevel your starter and whatever other pokemon you like, then put a bunch of high damage moves on them. Meanwhile, the battle facilities and online are using EVs, IVs, competetive strats, and all kinds of other stuff that the main game never tells you about. Like, the closest they get is Raihan having a weather team in SwSh, but even then, you can just brute force him without thinking too much about team comp or strategy.

      @@s3studios597 While it doesent fully prepare you for an endgame challenge like the frontiers or online, it doesent leave you completely in the dark either. It shows you the VAST majority of pokemon throughout the game so you know their typings and general moves before team building.
      The newer games make EV's more accessible and known, but the older games were semi vague with it all, true. But they still mentioned it in the way of vitamins and the held items that raised them faster when held, they just had a very "Sink or swim bitch" way about it lol

    • @nicodalusong149
      @nicodalusong149 11 месяцев назад

      Yes, exactly this. When I played Cyber Sleuth, I felt two things very strongly: boredom from the difficulty and blandness from how cookie cutter the moves were (I even finished getting my ideal team way ahead of time simply by grinding). Most moves in the game were "specific damage, specific range, copypaste in every flavor of the rainbow". I had much more fun playing Digimon Savers: Another Mission since the moves were more or less set per digimon and I had to figure out if I could take an enemy out in my current form or I had to digivolve for a new moveset.
      I agree and disagree with needing a solid identity. Specifically, I agree that there should be a line of games that creates consistency in terms of the very basics of digimon and what to expect from digimon games (i.e. franchise tropes). Meanwhile, I don't that all the games shouldn't be wildly different from one another. I think that's part of the identity as a digital world since data is constantly changing whether it is being rewritten or overwritten. But that's where that piece of consistency comes in, it'll makes it easier to navigate various types of games if the baseline is set (ex: these are the element types, these are how they interact with each other, this is how to digivolve into this digimon, etc.).

    Insightful vid Jamm3r. Honestly I'm feeling distant from digimon for years now you and some friends are keeping me around here.
    Well what ticks me is me that the recent good stuff have big ass cons.
    Digimon Rearise the game with the best cast and an actual good story is trapped in dead garbage mobile game. This should've been the anime we got. Not reboot not ghost game.
    Digimon Survive the best theme, lots of cool ideas, back to the good old daring digimon game philosophy but poor production. Even the amazing art of Uiti Ukumo got rushed look at the later NPCs it wasn't on par on the polish of the other character portraits. The battle system was simplistic but it was passable if only you have more options like more skills for each digimon. Also it's a bad VN. The title has Survive but doesn't have pitfall endings. Shitty free time events. Poor backtracking to experience the entirety of the multifaceted story. That too is lacking because it only ever properly diverge on ch8. I love LOVE its ideas but the complete package is below average.
    Sorry Jamm3r I just feel like letting out my disappointment with the series. I love the series for its potential but it's been years lol. Not everyone can wait. Even DW1 my fave entry feels like the devs just lucked out and randomly hit gold (tho unpolished still)

    The problem with the games is that there aren't many of them. They are by and far, way better then Pokemon. Not from a fan boy perspective, but from an actual gamer perspective.They have some clunky bits, but are as a whole, way better.
    But see, problem is, Bandai doesn't care. Back when I way a One Piece fan, before it became shit and a Gay Stu, plot armor garbage story, and was actively following it, One Piece games, the amount released, you can count on like one hand. Whereas, compare it to Drragon Ball and Nauto, the amount of games can't even compare. Hell, One Piece is the king of manga, there is no comparing considering how many copies of the manga it sold. But the amount of games and really, other spin-off stuff, doesn't even compare.
    It's like nobody cares. Now take Digimon, a profitable fanchise with billions in sales at least, and it gets barely any effort put into it. Barely any marketing for it's new stuff and things like novels, shows and the likes are all barely there and low quality.
    Digimon has a shit ton of problems and those problems are called Bandai.

      Of course Digimon is lower priority. It has to contend with Tokusatsu shows and Gundam (things that are practically solidly part of japanese culture) on one end, and the hottest anime shows on the other end. Both ends will make Bamco big money reliably but Digimon won't because it isn't either one.

  • @gaminking007

    First, preach homie.
    Secondly, I hate saying it but there is no easy fix for digimon games. The easiest fix is bandai is denied any money till they fix the games.... sadly that won't happen outside of me and requires everyone to agree to maintain that stance and be very vocal about why until the games are better😮‍💨. So the harder options are all that's left. Buying out bandai, or hoping whoever takes over bandai in who knows how many years in the future... all of those are far less likely to make any positive change and will take quite a long time

    • @nicodalusong149
      @nicodalusong149 11 месяцев назад +1

      Good luck trying to buy Bandai. Remember that Bandai bought Namco, not the other way around. There's no way they'll be in any position to be bought with Gundam, Tokusatsu, and popular anime tie-ups fueling them. Digimon is up against really well established things (Tokusatsu, Gundam, etc.) and stuff that's hot right now (all those anime tie-ups, etc.). It makes small beans compared to both so it's obviously going to be a lesser priority until it can prove it can bring in those big numbers consistently. Digimon is not reliable for them in that aspect. It's more or less the same way Capcom treats Mega Man but for very different reasons.

    There's so much bandai can do and should do with Digimon. They're playing it too safe, they're doing the same with the vpets which is where they started. They keep doing releases of the originals, while their tamagotchi IP have vastly more features. They could absolutely make an amazing Digimon Vpet.

    bandai put way more care in to making new pokemon snap and the DLC that came soon after than they have in any digimon game ever. I think the most important thing for a game is making great replability and thats something pokemon has done pretty well. if you are in to breeding for stats you can do that, if you want to shiy hunt you can do that, if you want to spam raids you can do that. there is also the post game aspect of pokemon games. some are meh but others are pretty damn cool. I think digimons issue is that it is not as flexible in the same aspects that pokemon is. there arent any shiny digimon and i dont think digimon has things like raid dens and i am not sure about the post games when it comes to the digimon games. dont even get me started o competive pokemon and digimon games either lol.
