Hi Helen. I can honestly say that the less time I spend in the kitchen, the better so I’m all about shortcuts!! In Greece, we have nowhere near as much variety of handy meals and ingredients and rely on cooking many traditional dishes. We have open markets in every town which have a huge variety of fruit and veg but that’s thanks to the Mediterranean climate. I was intrigued to see how the air fryers work as I’ve heard a lot about them and are obviously a huge bonus in saving electricity. Your meal looks tasty even though I don’t eat meat! Well done and it’s so refreshing that you have a real variety of topics on your channel.❤️🥰

Oh wow! Loved this video! I got an air fryer 2 years ago & have not used it ONCE! Combination of fear & too lazy to learn how to use it! I’ve been an avid cook all my life but now take all the shortcuts I can too. We do have frozen mash here in the states & Costco has the most delicious mash with no additives just potatoes, butter, sea salt & fresh pepper- so yummy! I’m salivating over your toad in the hole! I love how you do so many videos.I get excited each time I type in your name!

Wow Helen that looks very tasty, I used to make this regularly but for some reason haven't for a while but will this week now! I'm from Yorkshire so of course make Yorkshire puddings with the roast every Sunday no matter whether it's beef, lamb, chicken or whatever but never fancied them with jam but yes some folk up here do. Only been watching you for a couple of months but really enjoy your videos, so keep them coming, Its like chatting with a friend. Enjoy your cruise.xx

I used to make Toad in the Hole and my cousin liked it but decided to experiment as she made it into a dinner dish with chicken, precooked carrots ( any other veg) and potato chunked, summer savoury, onion if you like , salt and pepper, any other spices you’d like into a greased baking dish then pour the topping over the top as usual. I usually doubled the topping because we had a bigger family. It became a family favourite , served upside down with butter , salt and pepper.

After doing lots of research and in my mind due diligence,my lovely air fryer I bought myself for Christmas was recalled a couple of weeks ago. The company, to their credit immediately recalled over two million fryers following instances of electrical fires. The numbers were extremely low but still obviously a dangerous risk. I loved it and used it often. The company has been very good and quick to satisfy its customers as soon as reasonably possible. I have been informed my replacement is on its way. Have to admit I am a tad nervous about using it. I will not name the brand but suffice to say it was not one considered ‘cheap as chips!’I know fires have been reported in many different brands so even though I consider myself a conscientious consumer……it happens. I love sausages in the AF! 🇨🇦💕

Oooh that all looks lovely Helen 😁I’m all for short cuts,. In the US we can get what you call steam and mash. It is a bag of frozen boiled potatoes that you microwave then mash them up with your milk and butter. Best thing ever 😁I sometimes just steam them and pour mince and gravy over the top, add a veg and voila ! 😋

Sounds good. I had two microwaves because of symmetry but actually I find them so useful. Often just to keep things 'protected' from insects etc in the Summer months. Also, I warm plates etc by running a little water in between the plates and heating them in the microwave, works a treat. xx

I use a lot of frozen veg but haven’t tried mash.I found I used to buy loads of fresh veg then not use it up and then threw it in the bin and also frozen veg keeps all the goodness in.I got the ninja dual 2 months ago, didn’t want one as I don’t like change but my husband said my oven was costing a lot to run.He then bought one much to my annoyance but “I love it”.Still a bit of trial and error but so far so good.Need to lower the temperature and shorten the timing on a lot of things but I’m getting there,👍Enjoyed this vlog today .Thank you.

Don't own an air fryer - but this looks like a good use for it. I love Toad in the Hole, and it's something we have often, although getting decent sausages here is always tricky! Not to everyone's taste I'm sure, but we like it served with chip shop curry sauce! Don't think you can get MaMade here - although we go through a lot of marmalade - but can buy many different British brands, but my favorite is Chivers Old English!I I use loads of shortcuts - we refer to it as semi-homemade, although I haven't tried frozen mashed.

Great video Helen - we don’t have the frozen mash here in Canada, toad in the hole is one of my favourites to make, I usually put a dash of Worcestershire sauce in mine and apparently the more eggs you use the lighter it is, I usually use 5. I know when I was a child when we visited my family in Northamptonshire they would have their Yorkshire as a starter, boy was it good 👍🏻🇨🇦

Helen, everything looked scrummy. I have wondered about an Air Fryer, now you have 2 to compare which model would you recommend or are they all the same, function wise?

Thank you. That is quite a hard question.... the Ninja is much heavier and cumbersome but feels more solid.... the Chefree is lighter, so easier if you have to take it out of a cupboard and is much smaller. It's probably six of one and half a dozen of the other.... Ninja is more well known... Sorry that's not much help..... xx

Toad in the Hole? No, I have never heard of it. It sounds like a children's book. I had a Canadian mother, so she made Yorkshire pudding sometimes if we had a roast. My husband would love, love that recipe you are making, Helen. Yummy, we would both love it. I have never made jam or jelly. No cooking on holiday for you. Yipee!

Yes hubby love using our AF - we have 2. He has cooked a meal with both. We tend to steam our veges. Love a toad in the hole.. I do Pickles & chutney. I hate marmalade but my Nan used that marmade every year to make jars fir those thst wanted it. Made about 4 large cans worth! Did it every year until she was about 95yrs old.

You do make me laugh in a good way, you are so down to earth, didn’t think at 58 I could learn more about cooking, but frozen mash well that’s a new one, just added to Tesco delivery will give it a try, have the ninja duel air fryer it’s amazing cooked all Christmas dinner in it for family 7, and not used oven since, keep up the videos most enjoyable. I love Toad in the Hole and that plate looked delicious!
The air fryer looked good and I like the idea of the light but it’s too long. Can you let me know which is the other one you have or the one you bought your Mum from Costco…..whichever is better. I want one now after seeing you use it.
I love quick and easy meals and the shortcuts you show us.
The marmalade was so quick and easy. Take care xx

Hi Bina, I assume you've checked the measurements, it's not that long... but it is very light if you have to carry it from a cupboard. The other one I have is. Ninja and that is excellent, but very heavy. The one I showed is 5L my Ninja is 5.7L and the Gourmia (Mum's one) is 6.7. Which I am surprised at as I thought mine was bigger.... I think they all have their good points but only you can know which might suit best.
I hope you enjoy whichever one you settle on xx

Great video Helen, I’m with you all the way, the easiest the better for me, after all those years before these gadgets came out and doing everything the hard way it’s been a blessing to be able to have a meal on the table in record time, I just love it.
I wish we had a shop like Rogers? is that what you called it, i’ve heard you mention it before, it sounds really good. Your dinner looked fabulous, gets a 👍🏻👍🏻 from me 😊

Looks yummy! I have tried Yorkshire pudding but it didn’t really turn out. I’ll give your recipe a try. I’ve just started using frozen mashed potatoes and my husband likes them (he grew up on a farm and thought everything had to be fresh 😅) we’re going to try the frozen sweet potato tonight.

Hi Helen , interesting to watch . But I haven’t a air fryer , I still like cooking the conventional way , don’t use the microwave , only to reheat 😂. But it looked ok . Not one for new gadgets , also my kitchen isn’t that big 🙈. But thanks for the video . 👍J

      One of Rob's favourite.
The mash I use was from Tesco's, frozen mashed potato. I guess you can freeze your own, but I would freeze it very flat in plastic bags so not too dense. xx
