OK, the protestant here got 37. As a lifelong Episcopalian, I can tell you that the two churches can be very similar. However, I started delving into Catholicism and liked what I learned. This past January I began attending St. Leo's here in Tacoma and plan to start RCIA as soon as possible.

Well, that’s GREAT. I would never presume to advise you in ANY way, shape or form, but a discerning life can certainly be a calling as well. Matrimony is sacred, making little human beings is miraculous, and serving the Church in other ways is most definitely a vocation as well. I was an RN for almost thirty years, and at times I HATED it. The stress was insurmountable at times. That being said, helping the sick in its most basic element is a Work of Mercy and the feeling I got from doing this was literally otherworldly and divine. It satisfied me immensely. I’m NOT dissuading you by any means, Dear, but pray and think HARD. It’s not a decision to be taken lightly and you know that. There’s a lot to be said for the contemplative life. God bless you and I will pray for your discernment. ❤️

When I was a kid, I had a very tight group of friends. We grew up together in Catholic schools, and we always had these big Christmas parties. When I was 19, I dropped out of college and hitchhiked around Europe and Israel for a year. I came home in early December and was looking forward to seeing everybody. About 20 minutes into the party, I noticed that some of the guys were hanging with guys and some of the girls were with other girls. I was still pretty naive, but, having written a rather lengthy paper on Tennessee Williams in High School, I copped onto what was going on. After a while someone suggested that we play Catholic trivia, which we usually did. Adam’s friend Mike piped up with “ I’ll try but I’m not Catholic”. Jenny, my best friend and Adam’s sister said with absolute horror, “ You’re NOT Catholic!?”. She could deal with Mike and Adam being gay but NOT Catholic? I still laugh about this 50 years later.

Great trivia! Only question not asked is; "why do we spend ANY time in the secular world?". As Mother Angelica would say, "How wonderful is our Church"? But what I learned most is that I NEEEED that organ and organist(and the Cathedral for the proper acoustics) to follow me around all day long, for my inspirational theme music. How can we work that out?

We got our answer from the Catechism of the Catholic Church: 2856 "Then, after the prayer is over you say 'Amen,' which means 'So be it,' thus ratifying with our 'Amen' what is contained in the prayer that God has taught us." But, you are right in that it is difficult to translate the word “amen” directly, which is often a reason that words are borrowed from other languages.

Quote the bible (book, chapter and verse) and debunk these: (NO sarcasm please)
Kindly refute any of these FACTS with book, chapter and numbered verse FROM the Bible!!
      FACTS:
#1--Christ NEVER taught that Peter is a pope.-(where is the title Pope in the Bible?)
#2--Christ NEVER taught that Mary will go to heaven. (Where does the bible say Mary will go/has gone to heaven?)
#3--Christ NEVER taught that Mary is a mediator/intercessor. (Where does the bible say Mary is a mediator?
#4--Christ NEVER taught that Mary never sinned. (Where in the bible does it state Mary never sinned?)
#5--Christ NEVER taught that Mary remained virgin. (Where in the bible does it state Mary remained a virgin?)
#6--Christ NEVER Taught that a mere man is head of His church. (Where is the Bible does it state a mere man is head of Christ's church?)
#7--Christ NEVER taught about a church named Catholic. (Where in the Bible is a church named Catholic mentioned?)
#8--Christ NEVER taught that we can pray to the dead.-(Where is the bible does it state we can pray to the dead?)
#9--Christ NEVER taught that the dead can hear our prayers. (Where in the bible does it state the dead can hear our prayers
#10--Christ NEVER taught that anyone can change the day of worship . (Where in the Bible does IT STATE GOD changed the day of worship to Sunday?)
#11--Christ NEVER taught to confess to a "priest". (Where in the Bible does it state we are to confess our sins to a Priest?)
#12--Christ NEVER Taught a priest can forgive your sins. (Where in the Bible does it state a priest can forgive our sins
#13--Christ NEVER taught salvation is through a church..(Where is the bible does it state our salvation comes from a church
#14--Christ NEVER taught to pray to, or with beads!!! (Where in the bile does it state we are to use/pray to beads?)
#15--Christ NEVER started a church named Catholic!!! (Where in the Bible does it mention a church named Catholic?)
#16--Christ never said to confess your sins to a priest
John 14:6 New International Version -
And yes, IT MUST be IN the Bible!! Jesus said: Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. ... No one comes to the Father except through me.."
So, when a church teaches what contradicts what Jesus taught, which one is the truth??? If you say the church is right, that means Jesus is a liar!!! That erases ALL the 4 gospels!!! That leaves out ALL of Matt 16!! Along with that. you insist Jesus is God, then that implies God is liar. That erases ALL the Bible!!
If you say Jesus is right, that means the church has lied!!! IT CAN NOT be both right!!!
The bottom line is, the Messiah kept the Law perfectly, and we are to walk as he walked according to the Scriptures at 1 John 2:4-6. Those who do not follow Messiah’s footsteps are workers of lawlessness according to the Messiah himself.
Kindly refute these FACTS with book, chapter and numbered verse FROM the Bible.
Answer however many as you want!!! ONLY Book, chapter and number of the verse!!! No need to quote the verse or explain it!!!
Where does it say sola scriptura in the Bible?

The one I got wrong was founder of K of C. I said Fr. McGarvey. I knew it was Irish! So 99%? Or 98%? Most of this was very easy. May we have another? I’ll be waiting!

74 correct - I'm a recent convert (Easter Vigil 2022) from Presbyterian, but baptized Catholic as an infant, so the Holy Spirit guided me back home. Now I try to enlighten my Protestant friends who usually don't think about the Catholic Church as the Church that Our Lord founded on Peter the Rock,. They know that Sola Scriptura is the main thing, but don't realize that the Bible and core Christian Theology was all inspired by God but Catholic clergy were chosen by God to create these treasures for humanity. And isn't it the same God who inspired the creation of the Holy Mass and the Severn Sacraments. How does it make sense to just decide to toss those sacred vital elements aside and make your own new rules? Out of compassion I want to tell all Protestants that they are missing the fullness of our Christian Faith. Thank you for this quiz and all the great stuff you put on your channel, I just found you and will share with both Catholic and Protestant friends. Loved the recent videos with the Bishop.

Thanks for this. If you ever revise it this fine article, please give the translations for the Latin words. I learned the Latin Mass as an altar boy. I got about half of the answers, but will take the test again in a few days, and I bet I get most of them. (I used to know them all. Lapsed and happy.)
I left the church during young adulthood, and am now agnostic/atheist. But I was superbly educated in parochial school for grades 1-8 by Dominican nuns, who are great teachers. I remain grateful for having absorbed the Catholic liturgy. When I get into religious discussion with anyone, I am well-prepared. Religion and history are intertwined in nearly all cultures, and I am an avid student of religion, but not an adherent. Religion is man's search to find meaning in life and the universe. But I'll give you this: The Catholic Church has a neat answer for nearly everything, all tied up in boxes with ribbons. And many of them I disagree with. Cogito ergo sum. (One could always tell the first day in 9th grade public high school who the kids from Catholic school were. We were the ones who stood up when called on by the teacher. We quickly got over that.)

68 correct. Missed names of articles of clothing worn by priests and bishops, some more modern questions , and other minor stuff. I think I would have fared better had these questions been more about the biblical and spiritual teachings of the church.

Ok, this has been bugging me for decades. Why is St Michael referred to as a saint? Saint refers to people canonized by the church, often it refers to the souls in Heaven, but Michael, an archangel, was never human. Why is he a saint. BTW, after 18 years of Catholic education I never before heard Raphael or Gabriel with St. before their names.

I would like to protest the amen question it’s translated truly in almost every English Bible seven though it’s from Hebrew.

    • @diospringfieldIL
      @diospringfieldIL  7 месяцев назад

I was attending a denominational church like this one, I was always looking to get to know Christ and not get caught up in the religion aspect of it all. These questions had some Bible questions in it. Most of these questions was about Popes. Men didn't die for us. Christ did. Mary, the mother of Christ was a special person because she was chosen by GOD to have his son. We don't worship Mary. We recognize her as the mother of Christ. She herself had to worship her son the way the rest of us do. We need to get out of religion, man adding to and taking away from GOD'S words to suit our purpose. Just become a christian through: hearing the gospel which is the life of Christ, death of Christ and his resurrection of our Lord and Saviour. We acknowledge this, confess your sins, confess that Jesus is the son of God, be baptized for forgiveness of sins. Then get into The Holy Bible, not man's version of the Bible. Read and learn for yourself as you study with men who truly believe in GOD'S word and is serious about Christianity and not religion.
