Anyone who watched the video, made by a fan with his cell phone, of Dimash's show in Hong Kong, had the pleasure of a first contact with the song “When I've Got You” and realized, in Dimash's own music and in the lyrics by Candice Kelly and Dmytro Gordon, a romantic, seductive and passionate song sung with Dimash's own virtuosity. There was tension and anxiety in being able to watch the studio version with better sound quality...
Now, with the release of this music video, we realize how creative Dimash is:
A suspense video with a “noir” atmosphere, but without being located in the past, and a tale of passion about a supernatural creature who feels alone and needs to fulfill his passion for a mortal woman who suffers for wanting and not wanting turn her into one of his supernatural creatures.

My understanding is that Igor Krutoy himself suggested that Dimash contact David Foster in LA to determine how to best approach the American audience. Once they were “hooked” within American style mv Americans and others who have not been aware of him would explore and find his creative artistry, music, vocals, and filmography.

It's rather difficult for an artist as Dimash to become very "popular". Music is a business and has to make money. Artists as Dimash are too good, too demanding, too free. The musical business needs easier productions and artists easier to buy. That's also why the audience contents itself with mediocrity and has difficulties to understand and accept someone as Dimash.
I observed this phenomenon with Putri Ariani, so talented, so creative ! She was discovered last year through AGT. She presented a marvelous version of an old song of U2, " I still haven't found what I'm looking for". Bono itself told how this version put this song in a higher level. Everyone thought Putri would be the winner of this AGT 2023. But no...a man with his trained dog won the competition.
That tells much about the taste of the audience and also about the choices of musical industry...responsible of this desastrous taste.

He was living in Los Angeles when he filmed this. He's trying to branch out to the West but he is still keeping it true to himself. You can tell an American wrote this, there are some slang terms, lol. (Gonna, Ride or Die, Slice of Heaven)
I'm not really sure he was going for the MJ look but more than a few people have mentioned it. I do think his silhouette at the end before he jumps out looks like MJ. I think the long hair is just because he's a vampire.

As Dimash, she suffers not to be recognised everywhere by more people. That's often what happens with artists who are too gifted and demanding. They are the best and people choose a trainer with a dog !
The other fact is that both of them are keeping their independance. I can't criticize, that gives them the possibility to choose what they want to do, that's courageous, but more difficult.

SMALL are a supermarket chain someone said on one of the premiere streams, they partnered on this. Product Placement ftw.
Anyway. Not a dream. This IS basically the theme of the Anne Rice novel “Interview with the vampire” where the protagonist (Louie) tells his 200-year-long life story to a reporter referred to simply as "the boy" i.e. he is “Unnamed”. The bulk of the story is the tale of what happened throughout those 200 yrs. When Louis ends his tale being weary of immortality and of all the pain and suffering to which he has had to bear witness. He does not turn the boy (even though the boy begs him to) Angry that his interviewer learned nothing from his story, Louis refuses, attacks the boy and vanishes without a trace.
Dimash and the crew got this so perfectly adapted.
To summarise: A girl (an “Unnamed Interviewer” [although we don’t know this until the end] is sent to interview DQ; arrives, is subject to a number of Vampiric powers (trance, compulsion, irresistible attraction) goes to the Dark Side before comes out of the trance, gets “attacked” jump scared and tranced again (she is his Gateway to Heaven can’t turn her), wakes up in the car being sent back to deliver her interview [which is where we get to see the “Unnamed Interviewer clue”] finishes off her immaculate acting with a shudder, shaky exhalation and meaningful look out the car window. Roll Credits.

Be careful with the Michael Jackson references. The Stan Dears will say your trying to say that Dimash is copying Michael. I made the mistake of just saying how you could definitely see the influences that Dimash had of Michael in the video, not any of the singing, just the overall aesthetic of it and they came at me with pitchforks. 😂
But you're not wrong. It does have a bit of an omage to michael jackson. Since I'm a huge mj fan, and so is Dimash. A lot of people who viewed this video have said the exact same thing.

You know what?? I think Dimash should make a song with Putri Ariani and the video should be made by the same producer, the same staff should be involved in such a project. The Alan Walker, Peder Elias project with Putri Ariani is not extraordinary. Peder Elias seemed a bit strange to me, too much childish "ecstasy" which is not good at all in the "Who i am" video. I strongly believe that a Dimash project with Putri Ariani would be unprecedented in the history of music. They both have an unic musical mentality! It would be something extraordinary!!!
