  • Gunbarrel Highway Part 4: The Finish line JB74 Suzuki Jimny Overland Trip Perth to Uluru #Jimny #jb74 #overlanding
    Team! welcome the the final instalment of the Gunbarrell Highway Jimny trek from Perth to Uluru with 22 new Suzuki Jimnys! In this episode we have some drama with one of the support vehicles, the camera crew and I get separated from the group and we finally make it to our destination! What an outstanding achievement from everyone involved. Id like to give a special mention to David Howie and the team at Wildtrak Leisure Australia who made this trip possible, and Chris and Jacob from Woods Media who taught me more in 8 days about filming than I've managed to teach myself in almost 2 years!

    I used to own the lj50 I know its a totally different type of vehicle top speed was 80kph two stroke 3 cylinder 550cc but that vehicle was go anywhere and it could climb over logs around logs on hills and also in a lake .But it had it limitations in comfort and noises but there wasnt much weight and I believe thats the ticket for reliability. These days I drive a landcruiser but offroad The weight always pull you down and people develop these 6 wheel monstrocitys and monster types of all brands of 4x4s and its always the weight that is their enemy .If it breaks it usely got something to do with weight. That Suzuki was problely the best car I have driven.

    Well done series. While watching the videos I followed along on Google Earth. While we may have some of those distances here in the western US, you are never really more than a couple of hours away from civilization. Interior Australia is just so vast. We still wish we could get those Jimnys here in the US. 🙂

    Well done Massive. Uluru and Kata Tjuta are truly awe inspiring, and totally understandable why they are sacred to the indigenous population. I am very impresssed with the way the Jimny 's performed. I had an image at one point of your convoy of Jimny's being a bit like a convoy of bullock carts opening up the country 150 years ago. Love the fact that there are things you recognised as not being quite right. It isn't until the rubber hits the road so to speak that you ever quite know whether your setup is right. It is all about having the right gear in the right place for when you need it. My theory is figure out the first thing you want to get out and the last thing you want to put away, and sort from there, i.e. chair, stretcher, swag, clothes... Used the same principle packing a back back in my younger years. Even more important is figuring out what it is you really need and getting rid of the rest. Being organised correctly makes everything else better.
    Loved the series and looking forward to your next great adventure in the 💪Jimny.

      Thanks mate. You’re spot on with the set up, one of those things you can’t account for until you start putting the rig through its paces. Very, plenty of stuff coming up soon. I start filming tomorrow!

      I think I’d do other tracks before doing that one again. That being said I’m not adverse to doing something similar.

    If you’re interested in making some different content I’d be keen to tag along on one of my adv bikes, you could do a segment on differences/similarities between bike/micro overlanding.

    I have a couple of questions if that's cool?
    I'm interested in how many auto vs manuals were on this trip.
    Were all cars modified?

    • @MightyOverlander
      @MightyOverlander  Год назад +1

      All cars modified yes. And I am not sure the manual v auto number but I’m pretty sure it was more manual than auto
