I do not see a bracket on the up-pipe to support it, you might end up with a crack in your up-pipe or header at some point due to that; the flange of the oem up-pipe is bolted to the passenger side head with two metal brackets(which you could cut up to weld onto the fullrace up-pipe), and the oem downpipe is bolted to the transmission to help support the turbo aswell
ULH spool faster ? The killerB ELH helps spool turbo much quicker than stock headers did. Also gained more lbs/ft torque. Should've went with elh years ago :) Nice build though
I caught that too 🤔. Pretty sure you and I are right the killer b ELH helps you spool faster than the UEL headers. Also why isn’t he running an adjustable fuel pressure regulator? I think you and I are a little late to the show seeing the video is a year old lol.
, yeah coming from somebody that's built a few fast Subarus they missed out on a ton of s*** to capitalize on this build but it still was pretty quality build
I'm currently running a V9 Spec C 207 with pnp'd 20X heads, Kelford 220b cams, +1mm intake valves, beehive springs and Ti retainers spinning a twin-scroll 25G through OEM twin-scroll headers on my 2010 STi Special Edition. I start building boost around 2.5k RPM. I plan on making an atmospheric IWG setup here shortly using a Moore Performance twin-scroll downpipe flange. I absolutely love this car, it's nice to see another 207 build in a GRB, but wish you had gone twin-scroll for better response.
Real reason why is in some cases equal length manifolds add length to be equal. Shorter path with less bends, better spool (more often than not). Also material and it’s heat retention is a factor.
I can't wait to see how much jam this makes on the dyno. I hope you benchmark pump gas before going to E-85 or race gas. A similar setup with a DOM2.5 and Tomei EL header (no EWG), ETS TMIC, is making 383/377 on 93. I hope you make >400WHP.
That gasket will change the distance of the cam angle sensor to pick up point on the cam / gear . That why it has a o ring instead of a gasket. Hopefully it works
Confused how did you hook up the two bolt up-pipe to the 3 bolt header? Do the two bolt holes match up to two of the three when in the correct positions? That’s what’s stoppped me from going rotated. My header is 3 bolt. Or did you just bolt them together to get close fitment for everything
I'll gladly take that Tomei up-pipe if its not needed since i'm still running OE turbo lol ;) Build is coming along awesome! Can't wait to see how much this EJ makes!
projektd $125 sound fair? It’s brand new. I’m on my second manifold as the first one cracked so I have a spare uppipe. Do you have a manifold that uses the 3- bolt flange for the uppipe?
You guys should have gotten the rotated kit from BNM Performance Fab. He builds rotated kits for anything and from stock style 2 bolt and 3 bolts uppipes
Not sure why, you looking to say "It's not a EFR"? .72 will make less top end power but it won't be that dramatic compared to the .92 it won't make max power which on a AWD car and that turbo would be about 550 hp without using the bigger one.
I was always curious why there was never a big use of heat shielding/air barrier for the exhaust-oil pan clearance. I would assume why these engines like to fail is due to the oil temps from the headers.
Turbo sits right by cylinder 3, and the extra heat soak there can actually cause failure in that cylinder. I have seen people rectify this by adding heat shielding and using aftermarket engine management to send extra fuel to just that cylinder.
Should have went equal length headers. Actually gives better low end spool up and is a healthier option for ej engines. Hence why the newer Subaru’s come with equal length from factory. I will agree that it will sound better unequal length. Awesome content regardless.
Just a tip guys for when your heat wrapping headers. Never use those stainless steel zip ties as the harmonics and vibrations of the engine actually loosen them up over time. There is a proper tool to pull them ties super tight but they can still work themselves loose. Obviously it comes down to how hard the car is driven, how long they have been on the car etc. I have found that the best thing to use is actually normal hose clamps
Normal hose clamps suck just as bad. Install stainless steel wire with a lockwire plier. Much tighter and much cleaner looking any type of clamps or ties out there.
Not by what I have seen thus far. Not much difference in spool to either the larger housing will flow more assuming you don't have other problems preventing max power.
They didnt have any in stock and I get what youre saying about the metal but its still way better to wrap it for heat suppression as opposed to leaving any manifold bare.
FYI you'll get MUCH better spool with an EQUAL length header, NOT an UNEQUAL length header. This is coming from a guy who works with high horsepower subarus everyday, and owns a 700whp wrx, ive played with so many different types of manifolds and equal length by far grants better spool, and much more torque. You can call a bunch of the leading subaru tuners like IAG performance, Prime motoring, outfront motorsports, rallispec, killer b, and every single one will say equal length headers are FAR superior than unequal length.
@@alexortega714 depends on the type of elh, like who makes it (some have different collector styles, some are made from different types of steel, some have bigger/smaller inside diameters), also depends on other mods like if you have stock cams, aftermarket cams, avcs or non avcs, different turbo, different exhausts (amount of mufflers and material of the metal plays role) too many different factors to flat out say if they sound good or not, ive heard some that sound good, and some that sound terrible
I know this video is 2 years old but DO NOT run a light weight harmonic balancer. If anything you want a better heavy ATI or other race options. Light weight give you Maybe 1-2hp but allow more engine noise and will cause extensive wear on your main bearings.
You should really try an EFR7163 on there, the G25 lags it in both response and top end. The lighter exhaust wheel also means the boost threshold in lower gears is better.
@@dj4monie I have an SR20 with it running about 24psi on E85. Compared to my old GTX3071 it is a big difference especially with lag but also improved top end. It was pretty apparent but I also verified with virtual dyno while road tuning to compare the difference.

That small intake hose to the turbo gonna limit the power and spool up quite much, that is why people go rotated and not like yours, almost as a stock location turbo. G25-660 is a shitturbo who needs 35 -40 psi to begin flow decent...
Speed Academy is the best no nonsense RUclips channel. You guys are appreciated.
No nonsense? You must be a stickler for any fun 😂

I’d plumb that wastegate dump pipe right back into the downpipe. Dave needs a quiet street car after all.
It is quiet until 14 psi or so. And it's not that loud.
