Did anyone else’s legs hurt while the procedure was being explained??
jazmiiin xx ME!!! LMAO
No
That’s because you guys are empathetic ❤️
I had stabbing pain around my knees while watching
Meeee lmao
that's a lot of trouble to go through to get taller.
In some countries, you can't get a job if you're too short. Especially jobs that require you to drive/ride a vehicle. Even if you can find a job, your height can be a great hindrance (e.g. unable to reach shelves).
i dont think i would go through 4 months of pain and 5 months of recovering plus paying $16000+ just to reach something on a shelf. thats what a 20 dollar step stool is for :)
Tinted Wisdom Good one 👍
Tinted Wisdom and this kinda seems inhuman to me
AdaraTheShallot don't judge some people actually need it such as people with dwarfism.
I'm 5 foot 1 and male. I would do this in a heart beat. You can say it's just social pressure and expectations until you're blue in the face, but just because it's a socially created thing doesn't change the fact that its effects are very real. My height feels like an elephant in the room constantly - like, what's wrong with him that he didn't grow. If I am ever angry or firm about something, then I have "short man's syndrome". I would just rather be taller too. It feels like the world isn't made for someone my height - my feet always dangle off chairs and benches like a child, clothes all need tailored. It would just make things easier, I wouldn't feel like I have to explain or acknowledge my height all the time. If you could take away one of the things that allows people to make assumptions about you, why wouldn't you? It's far easier than expecting everyone around you to change their minds about height, or change the very culture, and I can't do the mental backflip needed to not notice the looks. I am actually a very confident person, it's just annoying that I have assumptions or weirdness working against me before people even talk to me. It's not for other people's comfort though, it's so I can be more comfortable in feeling that the person people see is actually me, not a short man stereotype.
Around the same height and male here too. It is difficult sometimes. Especially since there's no activism against heightism. Even though it can be as bad as any other kind of discrimination, no one really cares. But surgery? Seriously. I've never even considered it. Instead I used whatever I have, and trained till I was way stronger than average. Sure, I'll never be as strong as a strong tall person. But certainly much stronger than the average joe. The human body is capable of a lot of things. Keep yourself fit and get good at your job. That's all you need to worry about man. If you have $16000, make a smart investment instead of smashing your legs in half. Consider yourself lucky that even though we've been dealt the "short" end of the stick, it's not nearly as bad as being born with a heart condition or some disability. If you're healthy, it's good enough.
My sister recommended me a height gains program available at HootSize.xyz
I tried this height gain program and I got results in just 8 weeks. So that’s why I'm
recommending this website to all you guys…

Running, jumping, and lifting to stimulate growth plates. Sleep 10-11 hrs a night. And improve flexibility.
Act fast save up as you are only 15. You may grow past 25 if you keep estrogen very low but not to low. However how much you grow would be dependent on your genetics. Keep this regimen till you’re 28 and you may slowly grow to 5,10.
I was able to grow way past my both parents by exercise and nutrition. 5’9.5 however my growth plates are closed but I will still take estrogen blockers and niacin to see if I’ll grow half an inch
Vibrant God you’ll probably be 5’4 by the time you’re 18 but if you keep your growth plates open you may slowly grow to 5’6-5’7.

What happens after 20-30 years
@@xzxe not much, these surgeries have been done for basically a century and there are little to no bad effects. It's usually done to correct one leg being longer than the other, but after it's done the new bone is basically a natural part of the body. Only thing I could see being a problem would be muscle attachment points, but that body seems to have everything figured out.
Ricardo Ronaldo thanks ill do it someday

I went to school with two people with the bow legs too, they both went through it as well. They both had crazy looking braces with many screws going through the legs that had to be "tightened" every day. It’s just so fucking sad that being tall is such a standard/expectation in this world that people even go through this.

EDIT: So, initially this comment was about women perfering taller men and being hypocrites in saying men can't face sexist expectations. Two years have passed, and I want to apologize for this comment. I've seem to make a lot of people upset with this comment, and to be honest I wasn't really thinking when I posted this. I was in a "Not Like Other Girls" phase where I wanted to prove I was not like other women by shaming women and acting like I was on a moral high ground. I'm so sorry for all the people I have hurt with my words, and I'm even more sorry for the taller women and shorter men I have made insecure with such a careless comment. I also apologize to all the women who are unintrested in men who I made feel invalid. You are valid.
I hope everyone can forgive me, and I wish nothing by happiness for all of you.
I'm female and 5"9...my ex is also 5"9 (and almost 30 so not growing anymore) and height has never been a topic in our relationship. Not every woman has those expectations in her partner...also one could argue that he had reason to dump me as I would be "too tall"
Margot Nohe Haha like if you do different.
Regrettable Major stfu you incel
Margot Nohe your comment doesn’t make much sense because I think “unless you’re 6 ft tall I’m not dating you” is a better statement.
Personally, I love short guys. They’re actually harder for me to come by because there are so many tall dudes in my area! Some women have preferences, and love tends to be accidental (at that point, height and eye or skin color don’t hold much water).
Women can't be incels... unless she's a lesbian.
This video is deceptive. External fixtures are a thing of the past. And the procedure doesn't take p months. The Paley institution has revolutionized this procedure for recovery to be a a few months. I wouldn't suggest bargain shopping on this. Get what you pay for.

I am a female but still you’re like the elephant in the room, no one takes you serious, you’re made fun of constantly about your height ( even as an adult ) People talk to you like you’re a little girl.. It didn’t get to me until I reached adulthood and starting working in my field, I have children now and whenever we go anywhere I get weird stares as if I am 15 or something with kids. It’s a terrible thing.. It’s depressing, especially to know when you become older you only get shorter 😰😰😰😰😰😰
@@Jane-rs2si Honey, but you look sexy as hell (if u r the one in ur pic).
If you are a man with 5'4 or less, no matter what u r fucked up dating. I am around 5'7 and live in Peru, and I feel kinda below average in Lima, my City and the capital of the country. When I traveled to Central Europe, I didnt care abt height, but now that I care, I probably could have been feeling like a dwarf LOL
So every 2 years or so we have to get a check up and it's organised with school to make sure every person does it. We had to answer some questions about our health, there was a part about mental health and one of the questions was if feel good about yourself. I didn't give it the full score because people made fun of my height. The nurse that read my answers said to me: If you're really insecure about that, you can get surgery. I obviously said it's okay, It's something mental and changing my body for that would be crazy. But after seeing this video I just think it was wrong of her to bring it up. What if someone walked in and said she was insecure about her boobs, would she suggest plastic surgery?
What the hell, a much better solution is to just try to accept yourself, why was she suggesting surgery right away
Mangoo i would say wait until you are in your mid 20's and make the call. Because if it's somehing that actually bugs you and if it's something that is stopping you from filling sccepting and believing in yourself then do it.
I don't know how old you are but if you're young enough, you should consider growth hormone therapy. No one actually talked to me about height and what I can do to alter it.
It's something I have to live with now or go through with the surgery, which I'm considering for a later stage in life.
Perfectly fine to suggest breast enhancement surgery. You do you.
Mangoo its wrong of someone to bring something up... can you please stfu especially with your false analogies
Can they break my skull so that it gets bigger and so that it looks like I have a brain?
Diamond Evil
Yeah, if you like being bullied after.
People would probably call you "Megamind", because of that head-size.
Big brains don’t equate to higher intelligence
Janik Bollh Von horst actually they do a bigger brain will generally be able to hold more information as well as being better developed
Actually having a small head makes one look more proportional. Having long legs is one way to be tall but having a small-sized head adds to the illusion. Although having a small head isn't considered positive in all cultures.
why you want a big head? Mine is about 24-25 inches in perimeter and it makes me appear shorter, fatter, balder and makes it hard with helmets or headgear
I’m 4ft10 and would definitely get this done if I could afford it.
Don't be silly. It's not worth it.
I like short girls, they're more attractive to me.
It's different for a male, though, but still not worth it.
@@amettp3235 I got real issues. It’d be worth it.
@@amettp3235 Not everything is about gaining a potential partner's attention or charming the opposite gender, bud. Many people just wanna be taller to feel more confident and comfortable in their skin. Sometimes, it's got nothing to do with finding partners, especially for women because women know men don't care if a woman is short. They just wanna feel better about themselves
i heard going to the moon makes you taller... anyone coming?

So he dropped 16 bands just not to get roasted smh
it may not touch y'all, but being a short person, it's not funny and is actually life consuming after a while, if the guy wants to drop 16 bands, why do you care lmaooo
punkcrown 5'1" at 14, especially as a girl, isn't short at all lol
It's a lot more than not getting roasted. Often times the patients have bowed legs which causes them to fall down by trying to do simple day to day tasks.
Yoooooo
being mentally and emotionally abused and judge your whole life is consuming and tiring. I'm not just talking about being short. It could be weight, your abnormality, deformities etc.
I had this surgery because my leg was shorter and it was not that painful. I remember reading about it on the internet before my surgery and it was so scary. At hospital I met a girl who had a surgery like that too and her opinion was extremely different to what I have read, I thought she was trying to comfort me but nope, it wasn't that bad at all. It's kinda funny how people talk about this procedure, i think it's because people look down on plastic surgeries and they try to scare people away from that.
I am extremely disappointed that Buzzfeed made this all about height and never mentioned once that most of these surgeries in the US (if not elsewhere) are to correct leg length discrepancies.
I had this done too! I had bowing in my left leg, and it grew to be taller. I dont remember it being THAT painful (though I did have quite a lot of sleepless nights and one too many painkiller injections).
For me it was hell. Glad it wasnt that painful for you guys :-)
theysayimgreek sorry to hear that :(
Omg I finally found someone in the comments who even knows about this❤️ I have Pffd so I have had five of these operations
Is shortening a thing too?
Phoebe TT yea i knew someone who broke their femur, and after surgery it was shorter than the other side. They had to shorten the other leg after, but it was only maybe half an inch?
Phoebe TT yes but its actually called amputation
Why would you shorten your legs
[KIKI] that dosent make sense lol
Are they 7ft tall??
goddamn life How did you assume that people are getting taller?
Yet women complain on how men "demand" them to wear makeup
Well height is a natural feature while make up really isnt same goes for both sides. Why would would you even want females who want tall guys and i honestly don't really blame them everyone has a type a fetish , i know a guy who had and extreme fetish on toes and once rejected a girl cuz her toes where crooked or something.
You ask a handsome attractive male or pretty much any confident male to chose between a attractive female and a short , fat with less attractive featuress and i can guarantee you 99% of em would chose the more attractive one. The same way goes for females they chose the tall and attractive ones. This surgery isnt gender specific. So your comment could literally offend so many feminists and females. Stop being a male feminist ffs
It’s funny as there are women that prefer shorter guys. I exclusively date short guys. I don’t find tall guys attractive. I want to see your face. I don’t want to look at your chest.
@@nemosnemo8869

I had my right leg done back in 1997. I had the femur broken instead of the tibia though.
Matthew Cabanas Addley I had my femur done aswell in 2015
We have surgeries to basically change our gender. Why so surprised?
Why would you do this for 3 freaking inches?!
Franzi Mangoo Because society blows, and height standards are the bane of existence. 3 inches can make the difference of someone going from a below average height to average if not slightly above average
Franzi Mangoo It makes a difference you try being everyone's armrest
Dorothy Peña I'm under average too, that's why I can't understand it, i mean there are way more important things than height in my opinion
Franzi Mangoo true but it bugs the hell out of me I'm almost 17 and I'm 4"11 and for some reason people think I forget and have to constantly remind me I'm short
Dorothy Peña You gotta stop caring about what people think and say. People are always gonna judge but you shouldn't be going through pain and spending so much money for those kind of people.
I'd get this done, I'm so self conscious about my height
being short is like being black, you just don't know unless you experienced it. now being black and short dauuuuum..

One of the issues with this procedure is that once the bones have healed, you have to learn how to walk again. That can take weeks, plus have to be careful as well. And yes, the pain is great that most who have taken the procedure say that if given the chance, they wouldn't do it.
You know how we tease guys on the internet for being 5'10 or 5'9? Maybe we should dial that down
Petra Moore Who does that?

Ok so I got this procedure done back in November on my right leg because it was 2.5 inches shorter than my left due to a birth defect. All I can say is to really do your research on this kind of stuff before jumping into a life changing procedure. To get this surgery done just to grow in height may sound amazing but, like the video says, recover can take a very long time. I did this as a way to better my health and was not disappointed with the results. However, my recovery took a year when I was told that I would be walking in April. If you are doing this as a way to fix a physical disability that causes you pain or to better your future then I say go for it, but if it is all for cosmetics then I- as someone who has gone through this procedure- recommend you to have a serious conversation with your doctor and for you to consider if it is truly worth the hassle. (FYI, external fixators like the one shown in the video are not used commonly anymore, mine was internal)
Yeah no
I'm about 5 foot 7 with shoes on and 90% of girls are the same height or taller, and most go for a taller man. There are many more advantages to being a big tall man than a short stocky one. stronger, faster, longer reach, a tall painter does not need a ladder for example and can get the job done quicker.
Remember girls wear super high shoes
Statistically speaking, most women are either 5'4 or shorter. So either you're lying, or you dont know how tall you really are.

I had this procedure done to my right leg back in 2010. I had a leg length discrepancy due to having a clubbed foot on my right side. Although I had my external fixator on for 'only' a month, the whole recovery process took well over a year. The procedure, as a whole, consisted of three surgeries. And yes, up to this day, it was by far the most physically painful experience/procedure I've ever endured. But I opted to go through with it so I wouldn't have to be in a wheelchair by my mid 30s or 40s. I have absolutely no regrets!

devil _goat69696969 I thought people in Israel were very tall ?
5'6 btw and I'm happy with it
Height doesn't define anything.
Seeing videos like this really shows what people are willing to go through to make them self taller, I can’t even think of going through that much pain to change the way I look
of course you can't most people wouldnt have the willpower to stub their toe willingly let alone shatter their bones
Pain tolerence, will power, dreams, goals, insecurity, health ect is diff for everyone. A lot of people can't live without makeup, video games, and fast 'foods'. so you can see how anyone with the a height insecurity could envy theirs.
I'm 5 foot 2. No way I'm doing this I'd rather be short than go through 9 months of pain just to grow three inches
Jay Villanueva I highly doubt that
Are you female? If so, you’re below average (I’m 5’2 as well!) but to be on the shorter side as a female is usually seen as a good thing:-). Often I get teased, but in playful/friendly ways.
sinnabum yes I'm a female and i am now ok with my height
Crasher I guess your comment is irrelevant since that is stuff we all know already. What if she was 5’2 and a guy? Would you tell her/him to do such surgery?
suga yogurt people are heightist and they don’t realize it.
I blame society for making people think being short is bad
I'll just wait until medicine and technology becomes more advance to do this.
You’re bones would already be dissolved in your coffin. You’d most likely be a fossil before that even happens
@@jonathanm9986 True, we'll all probably be so old by that time, we won't even care anymore about our height or insecurities
My brother is having this in his left leg in March. His left leg is five inches shorter than his right leg. He is 9 years old.
i wish him so much luck ... may your family be blessed
Same thing here but mine is only about an inch off, it causes terrible pain in my hips and the doctors said the only solution would be surgery but I opted out
I hope it goes well for him. I had this done when I was 15. It was a complete disaster. I ended up having my leg amputated when I turned 18.
Maggie K that will sure make him feel better. (Idiot)
I'm not trying to make anyone feel bad, but it's important to know the risks. I know three other people that have had this surgery. Three out of the four of us eventually had to get amputations. It worked great for the fourth person, though. He had his surgery at age eleven. I'm guessing the surgery is more likely to work when you are younger and still growing.

Emilie Parker Feels good to be 6 foot
I’m 5-6” and I’m always the shortest guy in the room. I would never consider this surgery as an option. I own a successful business, have a doctorate degree and a hot Ukrainian girlfriend. Don’t let height define your success! Be happy with who God made you to be.
That's the thing. I don't understand the reason why people feel so insecure about their height.
Yeah of course dude, cause your brain is 6'4". When you can compensate like that it's ok but most people aren't that incredible and are left with just being short.
@@ildisiri Never let your height hold you back. We need to always strive to grow. I grew up poor and barely graduated from high school. Took me years to get my life together.
@@RodClarkson I didn't mean to imply that you had it easy or that you were lucky, I'm merely pointing out that you are exceptional in another facet of your life so maybe your height isn't that big of a deal. But me and many other people that aren't incredibly talented in something people mention our height as a disadvantage or something to demean us for.
@@ildisiri never stop trying.
I guess i should be thankful for being tall
I think this video is more shocking because it shows how cruel our society is. People choose leg lengthening surgery in order to get a break from the psychological abuse inflicted on them for being different.
If short jokes make you go through this then the height is your least problem..
U IN MY HOUSE IKR. People will just observe some other imperfect they see in you and point it out or tease you..
Sometimes people are literally jealous and won't even actually find a real imperfection but will pretend there is one to feel better for themselves.
I was playing basketball and this one dude made fun of me being short (I'm 5'7, he was like 6'4). Challenged him to a one on one and told him to man up if he wanted to go hating on people. It was 10 points to win, I won 10-8.
Agreed 100%
Ever been bullied and belittled about one thing constantly since around age 10? No? You don't know what kind of psychological toll it takes.
Thank you God for making me 6"3 🙏
Facc thats my dream height
I really hope I can be this height at 18. I’m 5 ft 8 at 16 and pray for me I can catch up to this height

Im 4,11 i want this surgery.. everyone i know is over 5,6... all i get is short jokes and thats all they say to me.. its really annoying that they don’t think that in just like them
I'm 4'11 too ( I'm 14 ) and i hate being short, everyone in my school is extremely tall compared to me, my best friend is a foot taller than me.
You kids don’t stop growing until your 18 to 20 years old. Just have patience. You haven’t even hit the adolescent growth period yet.
Kat you'll grow. I'm 5'2 and an adult. Honestly its not all bad
Syder Sauce Who cares about they say. Being short or tall is a good and bad thing. At least you wont have to worried about back pain at a old age because alot of tall people gets back pain alot
I'm 5'7 and my BF is 5'5. I don't think I'd ever let him do this even if he wanted to. I hate that people have made comments to him about his stature. We need to learn to love ourselves and value all sizes. Looks hella painful 😖
What do you mean you wouldn't let him get this surgery? This is exactly why men want to get this surgery, people don't take serious or respect short people. You're literally treating him like a child, what's wrong with you?
Let him do it, you don't understand you re a female. I hope you re not together anymore
If the majority of ppl inhabiting this rock were like you, we wouldn't even be discussing it rn tbh.
Go giel my giel said same but imma do it anyway cuz i wanna be perfect for her
Are You guys Still in a Relationship?
“ You got taller too ... We got our knees done “ you can actually do it now 😭😂😂🤣🤣
as someone with severe height dysphoria, i fucking need this
Honestly, who cares if someone is short? People can be so shallow...SMH
mama 79 clearly a lot of people care. Because of evolution height is very important and selecting a mate based on physical features is not mutually exclusive to humans. I doubt other animals choose a mate because of personality. Being empathetic towards somebody's sensitivity about being short is a learned behavior, it does nothing for us in the grand scheme of progressing our species. Sounds harsh but so is life.
mama 79 i think they're still short even with the surgery (the one woman was still only 4'11 with the surgery) which is still considered by most standards to be pretty petite (the shortest friend I've ever had was that height) it probably just makes it easier to get around in the world
Alicia C I know. People can be so judgemental.
some might not care but even tiny jokes or comments can make you think about it day and night. Imagine going to some store and the salesperson keep seeing and treating you as kids instead of adults? That's what I went through. I mean, I no longer take it to heart when people said like "you're so cute" or "you're so tiny" but what I'm tired of is that often, I am not regarded as adults.
The Reckless Recluse Progressing our species has gone beyond physicalities though...
I had this done on my right leg because it was significantly shorter than my left. It was so painful. I have some numb spots on my lower leg and foot, and it gets painful before it rains. It has been a year since the surgery, i dont regret it but i definitely do not recommend it. If you have questions feel free to ask I am very knowledgeable about this.
Where did you do it? How much did it cost? Is it still painful?
What i want to know if there are any drawbacks to the surgery? Would the legs be as strong as it was before the surgery or will it be weaker and thus reducing your athletic abilities?
How does the muscle attach to the extra length?
Nuwl That's what i was thinking about !
I was so distracted I fell in the toilet while going to the bathroom...

They do the surgery on the femurs now because you can get up to 8 cm increase, on the shins only 5-6 cm also shins are more prone to complications, I did the femurs and got 8 cm but I suffered some nerve damage in my right leg.
How are you now ?

I'm currently 4'11 and it's hard. Maybe not as hard as other short people but I was devistated that I could never be taller than my mom who is only an inch taller. I HATE pain so I may not be able to go through with this surgery if I ever even had to money for it but if they possibly could make it better/faster I'd go for it

I had leg lengthening surgery on my right leg when I was 12. This is pretty accurate. I had mine done above the knee which is a little easier on the body, but I met lots of people in the hospital that had it done below the knee. It was worth it, but it is very painful at times.
do you have to deal with pain after you're healed? my only concern is if I can run and dance again after going through all of that.
@@johnnyb4760 No after it healed it was as if it had always been totally normal. Absolutely no pain or issues doing anything after it's healed, much easier to do those things actually.

It's funny how kids make fun of you for being tall in elementary or middle school, but as adults most people have the desire to be tall
Gabby J Yup yup that’s why I’m happy to be naturally tall 😂
I had this done when I was seven because I was born with a birth defect that prevents my left leg from growing. I did one millimeter a day once a once a day, but the mechanisms that controlled this would often come undone when I was asleep and slip back several millimeters. I then had to move them back what they had slipped and let’s just say that the one millimeter was an 8 and anything I had to fix in the morning didn’t fit on the 0-10 scale. Anyone that gets this done for superficial reasons is insane.
I'm 6'5" but I'm still definitely having that surgery.

^^^ Pick me, like pick me, like pick me
here is how i see it:
Below 5’10: 100% RECOMMENDED!
5’10-6’0: this height is fine and I wouldn’t complain about it but doing it here moves you from average/above average to “tall” so you get tall privilege so I understand why some people might get it at this height range...
6’0: this a weird height...i don’t really recommend people lengthen here at all but I can somewhat understand why they would want to do this at this height.
6’1+: 100% not worth it all since you’re tall now...
This is for USA so Northern Europe countries might be a bit different...
Besides tbh in my opinion height stops being an advantage at 6’5(that’s basically the limit) anything taller than 6’5 is not necessary and is a disadvantage...you basically have the one of the most ideal heights for a man...
Don’t break you legs man.
