In some countries, you can't get a job if you're too short. Especially jobs that require you to drive/ride a vehicle. Even if you can find a job, your height can be a great hindrance (e.g. unable to reach shelves).

i dont think i would go through 4 months of pain and 5 months of recovering plus paying $16000+ just to reach something on a shelf. thats what a 20 dollar step stool is for :)

I'm 5 foot 1 and male. I would do this in a heart beat. You can say it's just social pressure and expectations until you're blue in the face, but just because it's a socially created thing doesn't change the fact that its effects are very real. My height feels like an elephant in the room constantly - like, what's wrong with him that he didn't grow. If I am ever angry or firm about something, then I have "short man's syndrome". I would just rather be taller too. It feels like the world isn't made for someone my height - my feet always dangle off chairs and benches like a child, clothes all need tailored. It would just make things easier, I wouldn't feel like I have to explain or acknowledge my height all the time. If you could take away one of the things that allows people to make assumptions about you, why wouldn't you? It's far easier than expecting everyone around you to change their minds about height, or change the very culture, and I can't do the mental backflip needed to not notice the looks. I am actually a very confident person, it's just annoying that I have assumptions or weirdness working against me before people even talk to me. It's not for other people's comfort though, it's so I can be more comfortable in feeling that the person people see is actually me, not a short man stereotype.

    • @lamenamethefirst
      @lamenamethefirst 5 лет назад +121

Around the same height and male here too. It is difficult sometimes. Especially since there's no activism against heightism. Even though it can be as bad as any other kind of discrimination, no one really cares. But surgery? Seriously. I've never even considered it. Instead I used whatever I have, and trained till I was way stronger than average. Sure, I'll never be as strong as a strong tall person. But certainly much stronger than the average joe. The human body is capable of a lot of things. Keep yourself fit and get good at your job. That's all you need to worry about man. If you have $16000, make a smart investment instead of smashing your legs in half. Consider yourself lucky that even though we've been dealt the "short" end of the stick, it's not nearly as bad as being born with a heart condition or some disability. If you're healthy, it's good enough.

Vibrant God Looking into keeping your growth plates open by reducing estrogen a little. Supplement Calcium, Vitamin D, and niacin which increases hgh production and A Lot of protein for Igf 1.
Running, jumping, and lifting to stimulate growth plates. Sleep 10-11 hrs a night. And improve flexibility.
Act fast save up as you are only 15. You may grow past 25 if you keep estrogen very low but not to low. However how much you grow would be dependent on your genetics. Keep this regimen till you’re 28 and you may slowly grow to 5,10.
I was able to grow way past my both parents by exercise and nutrition. 5’9.5 however my growth plates are closed but I will still take estrogen blockers and niacin to see if I’ll grow half an inch

It's usually done to correct one leg being longer than the other, but after it's done the new bone is basically a natural part of the body. Only thing I could see being a problem would be muscle attachment points, but that body seems to have everything figured out.

I can't afford it but I'm willing to let them break my legs if it makes me taller. Theres not a day that goes by that I wish I was taller. As a guy, no one takes you seriously, I'm never fully be able to be the dominant one in relationships or be seen that way, so many fucking jokes. I would do it without a doubt and I tell people that all the time but they dont think I'm serious. But ive genuinely thought about this for years. Fucking bet.

EDIT: So, initially this comment was about women perfering taller men and being hypocrites in saying men can't face sexist expectations. Two years have passed, and I want to apologize for this comment. I've seem to make a lot of people upset with this comment, and to be honest I wasn't really thinking when I posted this. I was in a "Not Like Other Girls" phase where I wanted to prove I was not like other women by shaming women and acting like I was on a moral high ground. I'm so sorry for all the people I have hurt with my words, and I'm even more sorry for the taller women and shorter men I have made insecure with such a careless comment. I also apologize to all the women who are unintrested in men who I made feel invalid. You are valid.
I hope everyone can forgive me, and I wish nothing by happiness for all of you.

Personally, I love short guys. They’re actually harder for me to come by because there are so many tall dudes in my area! Some women have preferences, and love tends to be accidental (at that point, height and eye or skin color don’t hold much water).

So every 2 years or so we have to get a check up and it's organised with school to make sure every person does it. We had to answer some questions about our health, there was a part about mental health and one of the questions was if feel good about yourself. I didn't give it the full score because people made fun of my height. The nurse that read my answers said to me: If you're really insecure about that, you can get surgery. I obviously said it's okay, It's something mental and changing my body for that would be crazy. But after seeing this video I just think it was wrong of her to bring it up. What if someone walked in and said she was insecure about her boobs, would she suggest plastic surgery?

Ok so I got this procedure done back in November on my right leg because it was 2.5 inches shorter than my left due to a birth defect. All I can say is to really do your research on this kind of stuff before jumping into a life changing procedure. To get this surgery done just to grow in height may sound amazing but, like the video says, recover can take a very long time. I did this as a way to better my health and was not disappointed with the results. However, my recovery took a year when I was told that I would be walking in April. If you are doing this as a way to fix a physical disability that causes you pain or to better your future then I say go for it, but if it is all for cosmetics then I- as someone who has gone through this procedure- recommend you to have a serious conversation with your doctor and for you to consider if it is truly worth the hassle. (FYI, external fixators like the one shown in the video are not used commonly anymore, mine was internal)

I had this procedure done to my right leg back in 2010. I had a leg length discrepancy due to having a clubbed foot on my right side. Although I had my external fixator on for 'only' a month, the whole recovery process took well over a year. The procedure, as a whole, consisted of three surgeries. And yes, up to this day, it was by far the most physically painful experience/procedure I've ever endured. But I opted to go through with it so I wouldn't have to be in a wheelchair by my mid 30s or 40s. I have absolutely no regrets!

I then had to move them back what they had slipped and let’s just say that the one millimeter was an 8 and anything I had to fix in the morning didn’t fit on the 0-10 scale. Anyone that gets this done for superficial reasons is insane.

here is how i see it:
      Below 5’10: 100% RECOMMENDED!
5’10-6’0: this height is fine and I wouldn’t complain about it but doing it here moves you from average/above average to “tall” so you get tall privilege so I understand why some people might get it at this height range...
6’0: this a weird height...i don’t really recommend people lengthen here at all but I can somewhat understand why they would want to do this at this height.
6’1+: 100% not worth it all since you’re tall now...
This is for USA so Northern Europe countries might be a bit different...
Besides tbh in my opinion height stops being an advantage at 6’5(that’s basically the limit) anything taller than 6’5 is not necessary and is a disadvantage...you basically have the one of the most ideal heights for a man...
      Don’t break you legs man.

Shoot, three inches doesn’t seem like a lot but that is probably because I’m tall for my age. I hope these people are happy after all that struggle
