Many thanks, sir, I am glad that I am not the only person interested in this subject. I am revisiting Chinese history to better understand my own identity as a modern-day Chinese person.
Thanks for sharing all the info that you uncover in preparing for your videos. I truly enjoyed them as I am also interested to know about our shared history which will shape our shared future for a better tomorrow for future generations. Thank you.❤
Thanks for your passion and the efforts you put into the program. I deal with people from PRC on a daily basis. A common theme I find is the cultural revolution resulted in a near complete collapse of moral compass. Chinese outside China not influenced nor affected by cultural revolution practice core elements of Confucianism as their way of life whereas post cultural revolution people struggle to practice Confucianism. Mainland Chinese often wonder why Malaysian Chinese culturally are more Chinese than them.
That is certainly a wonderful insight from you, sir, and reflects so much that was lost in China, swept away by the New Culture Movement and what came after it.
Not sure what you are on about. Socialism with Chinese characteristics is basically Confucianism. The students learn Confucianism in school and they come out a much better person than someone from Malaysia.
I heard of May 4th for years but never noticed the significance of the Movement. Here's from Chatgpt. Since the Ming and Qing Dynasties, the Beijing dialect has influenced the linguistic standards in China. The modern standard language is heavily based on it, especially in pronunciation. Hope it's useful.
Yes sir, you are correct. The pronunciation from the Beijing dialect is used to create Modern Standard Mandarin. On its own, the Beijing dialect did not have a full-fledged writing system, even thought Chinese characters have been assigned to many of the words in the dialect. We will go into the details of the creation of Modern Standard Mandarin in the next video.
