    Here’s a thought- for comfort, use this in conjunction with a saddle. Sit in the stand until you’re uncomfortable, then adjust your tether and sit in the saddle.

      I've been pretty impressed with the Lone Wolf Custom Gear D.S .5 stand so far this season. 4 hangs in different trees so far and its exceeded my expectations. Its allowed me to cover many many miles easier due to being 5lbs lighter than my previous mobile stand. I film mu hunts and have to carry extra gear for that.
      It is also more comfortable than expected after logging more than 17 hours in the stand last weekend. Its not that uncomfortable considering how small it is. I'm not a small guy neither with size 12 boots. Being so light also aides in hanging the stand too, its quite easier to hang too. Once cam locked its pretty solid. I have not given one thought to going anywhere with this stand on my back! Last year that was not the case. Ive made a real effort to lighten my load this year and so far its really helping!

      Michigan Great Outdoors Great review! I would enjoy an in-depth review after hunting out of it for a season. I keep going back and forth between the 1.0 and the .5 stand because of the platform size. Also would be interested in your thoughts on going with the lone wolf custom integrated sticks or beast sticks (if you had to purchase sticks because you didn’t already have the beasts). Good luck in the woods this year!

  • @davidrussell631
    @davidrussell631 4 года назад +1

    Elegant? Lol It’s a baby hang on stand. Cool if it’s your thing, but there’s a reason why the Lone Wolf has been sold for so long, but NEVER so small. But then came the saddle hunting craze and the obsession with weight and carrying profile. As for the Millenniums you mentioned, they’re crap for hang and hunt. You can take an accessory strap with a hook and hang a LW (or Novix) from that by a loop of cord to make wrapping and tightening the versa strap on big trees a cinch. But I sold both my Millennium M7 and M100U and half a dozen receivers. The thing Millennium did get right with the M7 was the size of the platform for a lightweight hang and hunt stand but that was it. No leveling and the receiver system sucks for removing the stand each hunt. So in that regard it’s not even good if you’re moving the stand between brackets. Oh, and the seat is only comfy if you’re facing directly forward. Yes, the old loc on wind walker was very light, but had a fairly low and small seat over a small platform like your new LWCG stand. Don’t think the loc on platform was that small, though. No leveling and harder to hang than the LWCG, though, so the stand you got is truly THE micro stand to get if it’s big enough for you, as you well know. I can see how this stand would be great for smaller hunters or with an ultralight saddle. Some guys say they don’t need anymore room than this, so maybe you’ll end up liking it! While I really like my new Echo, I’ll also likely invest in their smaller hang on next year, assuming they go that route. Yes, lighter and smaller is a good thing when you gotta a good ways to go and it’s rough going. I suppose it just comes down to the individual’s requirements for how it totes vs how it hangs to hunt and shoot out of it. Some of us only half a mile most hunts and some of you guys usually have to go a lot farther than that to get to unpressured or mature bucks.

    • @MichiganGreatOutdoors
      @MichiganGreatOutdoors  4 года назад

      You have a lot of experience with many stands! This is for sure the micro stand... only time will tell to see if I really like it or not in the tree. things change when you up 20 feet for 4 hours lol. I did buy this stand to fit a hole in my game. Going 2 miles back in nasty swamps is what this is for. I have a lone wolf assault 2 that im sure will see more hunts than this stand in 2020. Best of luck this season!

It is pretty comfy but like u said only staight on and once its in the receiver its in there...i tried to hang and hunt one time before replacing the millenium sticks with heliums. I dont follow you though dod u modify yoour millenium

    • @davidrussell631
      @davidrussell631 3 года назад

      @@bart8796 no sir, I sold both of the Millenniums. Although I don’t recommend the M7 micro for really any situation I can think of, their other hang on stands are good stands; just not to hang and hunt. My M100U was the most comfy stand I’ve ever had, but a little too comfy, to be honest. I also found that leaning back so comfortably can make it a bit difficult to turn back around to check or shoot to either side behind me, and I even shoot a gun both left or right handed. Still, it’s not a bad stand to have in place where you plan on spending a lot of time during the rut.

I would think being hunched over like that would become very uncomfortable back rest or not .... that’s my biggest concern with the saddle . If it’s just as uncomfortable as a tiny hang on .... then I’ll go hang on. I’m not a big guy but the inability to lean back is what hurts my back over time , and it appears that you can’t do that in a saddle but I could be wrong

      @@MichiganGreatOutdoors I hunted out of a ghost all season. Really neat idea they had with the way you hang the stand. However, you can't get into a crooked tree. Also, those rubber grommets start creeking after a while. I had to periodically get off the stand and fold it up and back down. I'm watching all of your videos. I'm 220 lbs. 6' with a size 12 boot. Do you think the helo would be better for someone my size? You gain a few more inches on the platform and seatpost, but you gain 3 lbs + in weight. Thanks for the reviews!

      Andre daqustio created and owned lone wolf tree stands until 2006, he sold then company to oak leak outdoors for millions. He never sold the name lone wolf, he kept the name. So a couple of years ago he had some new ideas and started a new company with his son Cody called Lone wolf custom gear. Specializing in custom mobile hunting gear for run and gun type hunting. The lightest most user friendly hunting equipment for mobile hunters. The practice of Water jet cut tree stands has become more affordable with HASS water jet CNC's and many guys in the skilled trade for this type of machining. So this is how they can take a solid sheet of aluminum and cut a tree stand platform out.
