Hey everyone, I really hope you enjoyed my new video! Let me know how you feel about the future of single player games in the comments. Do you think they'll gain or lose popularity in the coming years? Of course, it's only with your support that I can continue to make these longer, high quality videos for you all. Please consider supporting me at www.Patreon.com/RobinGaming for just $1 per month or more if you can miss it, so I can keep doing so and to get many cool rewards in return. Thanks for watching!

RobinGaming seems like there will always be more hype around cool single player games, but most people will stick to multiplayer games where they can play with their friends. People will spend more hours and money playing multiplayer games that they'll like with their friends, rather spending 60€ on a single player game that's not guaranteed they'll like or finish

I fear you may have a very one dimensional view of multiplayer games, try too keep in mind that multiplayer ≠ CS:GO.
There are too many decent singleplayer + multiplayer games to list them here, so I'll go about some online-only games I really like:
-"Anyland", lots of reasonable people in their own sandbox worlds with socialising aspects
-"Ascent - The Space Game", dumped 22 hours into it within a single session and never touched it again because I was scared to get lost in it
-"Homebrew - Patent Unknown" (arguably, as you (usually) are always connected but not necessarily on a server), just some building fun in a friendly community
I know those are just 3, but it is surprisingly difficult to find any multiplayer exclusives in my library. Then again... even COD is sp+mp, so no surprise really.

The likes of EA TELL us what we want...hype up some propaganda and try to make the real market trend follow what they WANT it to be. Then...belatedly...they slowly realise people in reality spend differently from all the published lies they fool themselves with, and make changes. But always the industry is playing catch up with real players desires simply because they REFUSE to provide what the consumer wants.

In fact if you actually consider that as good time, it's you who need the help. (edit) to cut this short: if you imply that 'i need help', and i'll imply back that it's actually you who 'need help'. I'm an omnicrafter in FFXIV. The game Final Fantasy XIV is the exception to what they say in this video. That's because FFXIV has a serious single player , story driven aspect to it. I call FFXIV the only true crossover between single player campaign and MMORPG play. The Player levels up, does tons of solo quests, and the main storyline , excluding some dungeons, is pretty much NPC interactive and SOLO. What FFXIV does is charge monthly Subscription fees, and provide new packs to all members of the club every 2-3 months. Every 2 years or so, a totally new chapter in the main story is introduced , and people don't pay for expansions or DLC's .
How would you classify FFXIV???? Is it the successful hybrid Ithink it is? I've it for an entire month with minimal player interaction, and had a blast.

As I said- I like story driven games. Or a certain atmosphere (like L4D, Limbo). You see, I started as a twelve year old with NES, later on Super NES, and then stranded on PC. DOOM 3 had a good story IMO, so I liked it, though it had it's not so shiny sides. The new DOOM simply isn't my piece of cake. 1. The biggest issue of big video game companies (EA, Activision etc.) is that they are comprised by old school business men, who make decisions based on statistical data and doesn´t take into account what their consumers want. They are firms and therefore care about maximising their profit.
    2. Consumers in this industry are still idiots (it is becoming better through the years). They accept shit and therefore get shit. Compared to other industries the products that companies sell doesn´t affect health and as a result of that consumers tolerate the present situation hoping for a better future.
    3. The only real solution is total boycot of those products that doesn´t fulfil what the consumer demand. But as the consumer base is populated largely with children it´s destined for annual COD titles for now.

There's no better multiplayer than split screen multiplayer. Real interaction face to face. The online scene brought out the worst in people, though it also revealed a dangerously large amount of unfit parents. I personally play video games to escape the real world, not deal with it even more. I have enough screeching and idiocy in real life, I don't need it in my hobby. I do know a thing or two about Marketing, seeing as I worked in it, and I'll say this: when a company says "single player is dying", they're trying to manipulate the gullible one-digit long IQ masses into buying their online micro-transaction filled yearly releases of the same game. Fact is, most people still want a single player mode. Metro is the perfect example. Even with the arguably anti-consumer practices prior to its launching, it is my understanding that it's a success. People generally do not want to listen to the screeching of 12 year olds playing M Rated games, they want to come home after a long day, sit down, turn on their PC or console and just lose themselves for a while.

They changed it from a single player tactical shooter that I loved to a division clone. There were a few exceptions last year but I ended up mostly on mp.
This year has been really good, god of war, detroit, finally got round to hellblade, and plenty more. We need variety. Not just singleplayer or just multiplayer or even just open world, but a healthy mixture of all.

If this bill basses, europeans will no longer be able to enjoy the internet as we do now and what you do, uploading videos containing copyrighted gaming footage to RUclips would be impossible. Developing a linear single player game allows for more mechanical complexity. I'll always prefer a linear campaign where I can delve deeper into the game's mechanics each time I play it over a game where the fun factor comes from playing it with others. Not saying this is a bad thing in the slightest, since having fun is the most important thing regardless of how you get there. It's simply my personal preference.
Single player also appears to be the way to go if one likes a more focused gaming experience in terms of both narrative and characters. Plus, I just love to loosen up and immerse myself in a videogame during my own free time and not worry about anything else. That's just the absolute best ^^

      Preach.
They don't want to be the best game ever, it just needs to make sales every year. A product that does that (multiplayer games) is like, the best thing ever in a capitalist sense.
If my game made it big like God of War, great! But if I want to keep up my momentum, I have to make a game like that next year. Then the next year. Then the next year. And that's assuming I keep making it big. If I fail to deliver, that could mean the end of me. You can only play God of War or Uncharted once.
Meanwhile, if I make something like PUBG that attracts new buyers every year, I'm set and don't need to work much for it. Games like PUBG are sort of a roguelike, the game is different everytime you play it.

Single player gaming as ALWAYS been over 90% of my games & in general these times, F U multiplayer! I wonder if I am a minority, but basically I dont play multiplayer because I HATE competitive gameplay. Before the end of 2017 if I remember, DragonBall Fighterz beta, I TRIED TO TRY, but it was IMPOSSIBLE! NOT because of internet problems, but so many people were already pro at the beta, I had no time learning how it worked, I would die in 30 seconds. ONLY Coop multi I like similar to Borderlands.

For me at 40 years old I enjoy variety, and a balanced blend of Single-player & MP games. I lean towards Single player because I work with people all day and my personal escape is to play a game at night to 'unwind from the work grind'...at my pace. I do not care for the rush of modern day Multiplayer games including the newer battle royale modes.
I feel like I cannot even go to sleep after playing some of these games.
It's much preferred to relax and enjoy a campaign or story driven single player game at my speed, be able to hit pause when I want to and not be bothered by other people in a lobby. One of the only times of the day I can truly have 'my time' and I do not want to sacrifice it.

Saying Single player games are dying is quite bluntly greedy market manipulation. Neither single player or multiplayer need to be mutually exclusive. Who can remember the old NES games as a child. There were so many 2 player and 1 player games. They co existed in bliss. Nowadays though its all about corporate greed (GLARING PIERCINGLY AT YOU KONAMI!! I'M STILL UPSET ABOUT SILENT HILLS) How their supposed business models are the only actual truth to the industry. Fact is people game to be whissed away to a fantasy. Whether that fantasy be with friends or just a cool story. Single player games are an experience that multiplayer will never duplicate. Cooperative games, though few and far between, like A Way Out, can bring the same experience. EA is trying to speak for gamers in an effort to promote their agenda of multiplayer, microtransaction heavy games. The content in these games are set up around these microtransactions. Making them mandatory to get any full enjoyment out of the game. Pay to play after you've already paid $60 for the game. The games are not created for the gamer. They're created with monetization in mind. The developers of these multiplayer games hardly ever put forth any real effort to make the game without having to pay to compete or grind for long periods of time to catch up with those that have paid. Never will I believe that multiplayer is the future. I play a few multiplayer to bide my time until a new single player IP comes out. Right now that's Over Watch. And you can bet money if you want that when Spiderman PS4, AC Odyssey, Tomb Raider, and Metro release... Over Watch will be collecting layers upon layers of dust....

On the subject of Overwatch, looked interesting, but the lack of a single player campaign killed it for me. I unless it's FTP I don't really see the point of buying a multi player only game... (Kind of like why I don't really see the point of buying an MMO, because well... if it goes under and the server shuts down you no longer have a game to play, and all the money and time invested in it is gone.)

They want to kill off the idea of single player games and increase the popularity of multiplayer games so they can continue to push the game as a service it's a lot easier to drain more money out of us in a multiplayer game then in the single player game which is why they do it. But they're always always caught by surprise when they're Surefire plan fails and they get pie on their face but well we know their type they always have a convenient scapegoat to take responsibility for their mistakes the only good thing we can take out of this is sooner or later they're going to run out of scapegoats or the ones who pushed his agenda in the first place are going to be next on The Chopping board. you are simultaneously over and under thinking this issue.
all industries are now operating on a "supply side" economic model.
there is a lot more to this, college courses are given on this sort of thing.
but the part that is relevant to the topic of your video is that large companies do not care what their customers want.
they do not go out and do market research to find out what there is a demand for , then make that product.
they figure out what product will make them the most money, how they can manipulate the availability of products in that category so that what makes them money will be the most easily accessible product in that category of products, then they go out and do market research to figure out how they can convince people that the thing that makes them money is desirable.
at no point in this process do they allow what their customers actually want to influence the direction that they will take their company and their products in.
they only think about what product their customers actually want once it is time to start manipulating their customers into buying the thing that they decided to make.
if it does not sell even after they have spent lots and lots of money to try and get people to think they want it, they blame the customers for this.
that is where all of those "milinials are killing this or that" ideas come from.
