    So many youtubers talk about pressings, value, availability, prices, sound. So few talk about music.

      That’s because they don’t need to I think. It’s for the listener to make there choices but if an Audiophile says an Album version sounds great or crap they’re usually right👍🏻 I recommend UK 1st Press of Supertramp - Breakfast in America and the SHM-SACD. I also download / stream to Media Devices🎵🔥

    A few years back, I decided to take the plunge and try a One-Step recording, Yes`s "Fragile" album. Exceptional in every detail, listening to it makes me forget how much it cost....I have subsequently purchased several others, most recently Jeff Beck`s "Truth", which is absolutely KILLER. With Rod Stewart on vocals, Ron Wood on bass, Mick Waller on drums, John Paul Jones on the Hammond B3, and Nicky Hopkins on piano, it`s a true classic album.

I recently got the Jimi Hendrix Are You Experienced UHQR and it blows my mind every time I hear it. Definitely will be setting more Mobile fidelity pressings

    I don't have the MFSL of Santana Abraxas ULTRADISC One-Step but I do have the MFSL Gold 24K ULTRADISC CD, it's not vinyl but this particular CD is my go to to show off my system, it's phenomenal. I would love to hear someone do a comparison between the UKTRADISC One-Step LP and the ULTRADISC 24k Gold CD. Don't let the CD format throw you, some of these MFSL Gold CDs are unbeatable/unbelievable. I got the ULTRADISC Gold CD of Pink Floyd's "The Wall" and it one of the best versions I've ever heard from any Pink Floyd album on any Format, it's unbelievable, they did this one right!

      Cool! Yeah, that would be a great comparison. I've definately been curious about the Santana CD - as well as many of the other SACD's out there - to see if they go toe-to-toe with the vinyl versions, usually at a way cheaper price!

    I was workin' at a music store when I heard 'bout the UHQR versions o' Dark Side O' The Moon 'n Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. I was fortunate they still had them in stock 'n after I received my copies I was told by my Mobile Fidelity rep that he had sent me the last copies 'n when Mick Jagger tried to order them soon after he was out o' luck. I've kept them sealed.

    Cool idea for a video. Thanks - What would be an album that you would want coming out as a one step btw? For me it would be a classic Bowie album like Ziggy or it would be neat to have some Eno on ultra quiet vinyl as well.

    • @howtovinyl
      @howtovinyl  2 года назад

      Dude- so many albums would be great for this series!
      Bowie or Eno would be amazing...Ziggy Stardust or Let's Dance would be a dream - and have already been done as standard MoFi releases in the past! As for something new, Iggy Pop's The Idiot or Lust for Life would be an instant buy from me.
      Maybe some more funk and soul titles - like Isaac Hayes' Hot Buttered Soul or Stevie Wonder's Innervisions.
      Would also love to see In the Court of the Crimson King or Permanent Waves get MoFi reissues in this series.
      On the plus side, they are doing Miles Davis' Bitches Brew which I will definitely be grabbing!
      As always, appreciate your kind words!

      they’ve betrayed their base customers (audiophiles). they might pivot and continue to sell records.. but a rip from a high-res file is not remotely worth 125.00 per record.

  • @F4O2R7D
    @F4O2R7D Год назад

    Well there is a little flaw in your list putting Journey - Escape at #6, the fact is it sells for more than any other MFSL record. The problem is it's very rare and doesn't change hands often so sale span a larger time frame, that changes current prices when rolling it in a nominal price for today. Second there is less sealed copies opposed to something like Santana's One Step that you say is selling for $2500, that would be a sealed copy. IMHO the top selling priced MFSL records are #1 Journey, #2 Santana One Step, #3&4 are the UHQR copies of DSOTM and SPLHCB with all things being equal, meaning sealed copies or as near to mint as possible.

    This doesn't do any favors to the record collector who's looking for originals and regular reissues at decent prices. I just think those audiophile people are nuts, paying those prices for normal classic rock albums most collectors already have and have heard a million times. But of course I can't stop'em or judge them.

    There are many valuable DSOTM recordings, but what I have found is the best sonic recordings were the Toshiba EMI Pro Use recordings. I have had four of the various renditions and found this to be true. However, opinions vary and tastes in music do also. I am not after vinyl for resale purposes. I buy vinyl for the artists I like and only sealed or near mint copies because who wants a poor sounding album? To each their own.
