All Jazz Releases for RSD Black Friday 2022 - Your Guide!
This is very informative. Thank you.
Thanks for the video! As of November 2024 a Vevor ultrasonic record cleaner is 144usd, delivered. my blue collar set-up is as follows; 144 Vevor record cleaner 60 Vinyl Styl record cleaner for rinse (a much better version of a spin clean imho) 20 Vinyl Vac attachment 30 Tiny shopvac (its adorable) 30 24x60 inch folding table 20 lifetime supply of ilford ----------- 304 total (plus distilled water and 99% isopropyl alcohol which are consumable) A complete vinyl cleaning station with a table to remove the ultrasonic from your listening area as its "buzz" is very annoying (they all are). The USonic makes an amazing difference as opposed to my old Vinyl Styl/Vinyl vac combo. Just really seems to open up the recording. While it doesn't have all the niceties, looks or small size of the Degritter or the Guru it does the important part very well for 1/10th and 1/2 the price respectively. Spin on you crazy diamonds!
Border would be a problem
Well, at least $100. does not sound like much. At least you didn't get the $1,000. cleaner! But whatever. If some people have $1,000. to spend on a record cleaner, let them try to make sense of it.
My favorite J/press is Bob Dylan's Blood On The Tracks. It sounds better on vinyl than CD
So you didn't clean the brushes correctly, thanks for clarifying and the clickbait headline 😮
Just use a soft rubber and work in small circular movements ,UK covers have always been printed on card ,,some US covers had paper glued over card ,they can be cleaned with a very soft rubber but it must be done in very light small circular movements ,straight up and down will rip the paper
I have a lot of Japanese Pressing bought in the early seventies to late eighties and still have the obis attached and in excellent condition.
I just cleaned Metallica's Black Album with the spin cleaner 2 and now it sounds worse, going back to my discwasher brush I,ve had since the 70,s
When I bought my spin clean I did buy 5 extra brushes cause I new its going to ware out especially I have over 2000 records to clean
f-kin hell lad, that vocal compression is extreme!
Spin Clean does a great job if on a budget or not
I'm still using my 10-year-old SC. It's been "demoted" to a PrepClean after getting the Humminguru Nova. Very dirty records get a run-through with a 50/50 solution of Simple Green and distilled water, rinsed before hitting the Nova. It's not so much how you do it, just do it. “It sounds like bacon smells”, Bonnie Raitt describing her vintage 1965 Stratocaster
Not the best sounding or the best performance just the most valuable. DO we want to see this market overtaken by speculators who drive up prices like they have done with watches? Effing gready bastards everywhere.
A pox upon RSD. The only RSD release I've ever picked up on the day is Delia Derbyshire and Barry Bergmange "Inventions For Radio" six CD boxed set on Silva Screen Records because it was about four times cheaper than the six LP version they'd released a few month previous (~£35 rather than ~£150)
Berlin was in East Germany... Also, I'd recommend 1990's ChangesBowie over ChangesOneBowie, especially the British cassette or double LP editions which as well as tracks from Heroes, Scary Monsters, Lets Dance and Tonight also contain fthree tracks (Life On Mars, Starman, Sound And Vision) that are not on the USA equivalents or any CD editon.
Talks about Brian Eno being an innovator in electronic music. Flashes up cover of one of his 70s rock albums. Good grief.
I agree with you story. Listening the album is impressive. For me it is an real discovery. Thnks for the tip
I love my vinyl vac
2.50 mins in and nothing at all has been said about 3000$ pucks. Bye
I have several Japanese records. First of all the lp covers and inserts are amazing, they’re high quality original replicas and look exactly as the original stuff did. They also include lyrics. It’s also true that not all Japanese records deliver the sound quality that’s expected. It does depend on the masters and so that can be a problem and a crapshoot. But in general they’re worth having as the quality is usually quite good and the covers, inserts etc. are beautiful made.
Was that quality also used to record on the 1960 sequel album Belafonte Returns to Carnegie Hall?
Actually the water damage can be repaired. You've actually ruined a completely salveable recordsleeve with the eraser.Comicbook collectors are way ahead of us!Take a look at some of the comicbook restoring video's.Water damage can be repaired with actually dipping your cover in water!Even foxing on recordsleeeves can be restored!
My spin clean works great so you got a bad item get another one is all i can say .
I don’t have a lot of money, and have to stick to a strict budget, so I tend to be very intentional with my record buying. I just buy my favourite artists, and usually limit myself to one record per month. I don’t want a huge collection to look after, so I only have around 50-60 at the moment, and don’t want to ever own more than 100-200 at any point. I think just being very choosy is a great way to ensure you only have records you love and want to listen to often. But obviously, if your budget is bigger, and you enjoy experimenting, and having a larger collection, that’s great too. I tend to listen to digital music for that.
Clickbait! this was an easy block
all iit seems to be now is how much this piece of plastic is worth and nothing to do with the actual music i despair. its all about the money. i bought records for what music was on them not this shiit. so sad.
A true collector dont just buy famous records, a true collector buys what he wants regardless of if the record a hit or not I buy country music, i dont, i buy what interests me, i dont buy to sell, i buy to listen
Another simple, free thing to think about. I just did this and it made a difference in my situation and made the soundstage in my listening environment more preferable and better sounding to my ears. I simply switched the RCA inputs on the back of the amplifier to essentially swap the audio of the speakers (i.e. left and right speaker inputs now reversed). I did this because I noticed in an Ultra HD remastered song (Ice Cream Man by Van Halen) that following Dave Lee Roth's vocal and acoustic guitar opening chorus when Eddie jumped in with his guitar it was in the left speaker while listening to it through a Bluetooth connection whereas when I switched to the cable connection (from the same source) Eddie's guitar came in on the right side. Though in my Mind's Eye I see Eddie on the right-side of the stage I determined that with my speaker setup/configuration and listening environment that I really preferred Eddie's guitar solo to come from the left speaker as this created a richer soundstage for me. So I swapped the RCA inputs on the back of my amplifier and at least for that song it hits the right spot! I guess it's a crapshoot how other songs will utilize each speaker. This did the trick at least for that song/album.
I collect Zambian and other African records. That copy of Hunky Dory is honestly above average condition if it were a Zambian record!
The "outer band insert is cheap, as you have mentioned. I never save that part, dont care what some people think it is worth. I buy records and actually listen to them also, always open them up. I might have 10 or 12 Japanese pressings, they are way overpriced I think. For me, the way to go is If I cannot find a decent vinyl copy for a reasonable price, I buy the best compact disc I can find. Sometimes the cd sounds better than the vinyl. When I am dead and gone, I can just hear someone saying to themselves as they are looking over my vinyl," what a dumb poop, he didnt save the obi......
No matter how good Japanese pressings are technically, a major factor in sound quality can depend on what masters they used.
Top 10 dsd files.
Try slightly stale white bread....sounds crazy but it does work sometimes.
Mr clean magic erasers are the best for this
I love mine. Its great
This is tough to do and changes all the time. But right now I would say: 1. Station to Station 2. Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust 3, Diamond Dogs 4. Young Americans 5. Tonight ( yes I know a lot of people hate this album but it’s always been one of my favorites )
Meddle is my favorite Floyd. I sold my MFSL copy years ago but no where near that price. I think the best sounding copy is the first pressing UK. Way better price.
Man, if ink is clearly gone like on the Joni Mitchel album your'e not gonna bring it back by using a eraser.
The Dreaming is a masterpiece and by far her best album. She has reportedly said that it is her "mad" album, but I consider it her mad genius album.
Love the Rush shirt dude!!! Great list!!!
"i'm a customer for life!" proceeds to use a shitty ckickbait title that could lead others to think the spin clean sucks
...top 10 most valuable Mo-Fi albums !!! None.
the plant was sued by VMP (turns out they didn't own the plant) and its been moved to furnace or RTI.... i still like VMP for a lot of the stuff they own... but I immediately thought "wait a minute this is mostly just a compilation of everything else"
I vote with my dollars. I refuse buy LPs/box sets, where the only "added value" is alternate takes that weren't good enough to make it onto the original album. I don't mind paying for an artist's best effort. But I don't want pay JUST to hear them "practice getting it right". That is what a documentary film is for,.
If your turntable has an integrated phono preamp (and no phono output) then it wouldn’t make any sense to add another. Its main job is to apply the RIAA curve. If that’s already been done inside the turntable then you just go straight to an amp. Preamps are really only for turntables without an integrated preamp or those that have optional phono output that hasn’t had the RIAA curve applied. If you do a double preamp and think the sound is improved, it’s probably just been a treble and bass boost that you might have been able to do with a standard amp’s EQ.
I have the same device. Used it and haven't been able to detect any sonic improvement. Mind you, all my records are at least NM, so it might work when removing heavy soiling but not when you attempt to minimize certain crackles and pops on otherwise clean records.
Bloke on bloke is a great record
Lovely sight to see a fellow American Kate Bush fan 🥰 you’ve got lovely opinions! Question: is your copy of the dreaming signed? I saw marking on it and immediately knew I had to ask 😂
