Being obese is not a risk factor. When I was first diagnosed I was 135 pounds. I didn't start gaining weight until I went on the meds the Drs said I had to take. Now I'm 190 I'm no longer taking the meds. But can't lose the weight.

Same, I was 125 lbs, my mom was a tiny woman and my sister weighed 90 lbs soaking wet. I am now 195 lbs from taking crap like gabapentin that didn't help a bit and being in pain to much to run 3 miles a day.

Obesity is caused by the hypothyroidism (75% of us) and the drugs, as stated here. I weighed 135 when I got sick. now weigh 198, despite exercising for 40 mins. daily and watching every bite.

@ Donna Turner - I weighed 105 pounds 33 years ago when I acquired FM.
RESEARCH EVERY DRUG BEFORE YOU PUT IT IN YOUR MOUTH.
If it's an anti-seizure drug or one prescribed for Epilepsy, DO NOT take it. Pharmaceutical companies, don't want to help you, they want your money, and if they can get you to a point where you need other medications, its a win for them, and a loss for you.

I was 125, 5 ft 6. I has Scarlet Fever as a kid. There is now finding out why you have it. I lost a baby, and had 13 units of blood in 4 months. some say traumas ! You just need to do what feels best for you. I take tramadol, and have for 13 years. It’s the fatigue, that kicks my butt. I have four other health issues. And after the vaccine, I have high blood pressure and tachycardia, plus migraines. The migraines started two weeks after the vaccine. Went to Dr, and have records of my past health! I had perfect blood pressure, I had a heart test and have zero plaque in my heart. I’m pissed off, but I can’t change it now!

Thanks so much for this vid - as an RN with FMS I really appreciate this to the point and understandable vid - its ideal for the average layman to understand. I have just subbed and looking forward to more. Could I suggest a vid on PTSD? So many of us Nurses and Doctors myself included have experienced traumatic assaults from patients and its not widely recognised in the healthcare system - mainly Military and Police. Hope you will consider. Best wishes and positive vibes from Sydney Australia 🇦🇺 ❤

I developed fibro after giving birth as well. It took 16 years to get a diagnosis, I’ve had this for 40 years and I can say from experience that it’s not fun, and we look normal, so generally people doubt we have so much pain. I can’t take any of the pharma meds, so I tough it out. I do get epidural injections in my neck, hips and low back and use medical marijuana to sleep. I am in pain all the time and the treatments help temporarily. I’m worn out by fighting this for so long. I haven’t found a doctor who really gets it. It’s a frustrating and endless struggle to control the pain.

@@terri6613 , mine was after the 2nd child as well. I listened to a Dr on YT, he said that everyone has a trigger, yours and mine were childbirth. For others, a car accident, a death, an operation, etc triggered the abnormal responses by our immune system. Something went haywire in our bodies, never to return to “normal”. It’s a difficult existence.

I have read that fibromyalgia is more of a cluster of reactions/symptoms to a viral infection. So it might not be the disease/syndrome itself but yet a term for how the body reacts to a virus.

    • @ALM4848
      @ALM4848 Год назад +7

I have had Fibromyalgia almost 34 years. I had a viral infection then came down with a syndrome that had me half insane. I had just had a baby in May of 1988. I didn’t think I could be so tired and in so much pain and not be dying. Feldene, flexeril, Savella and Trazodon. It used to keep me upright. I am 60 and nothing gets me upright anymore 😢

You're far more correct than this idiot! I was 49 kg when I was diagnosed, and my weight for height should be 61kg.
I know about ten people with either Fibro or cfs, and every single one of us has had glandular fever. It's worth noting too that all of us go down together on our worst days of pain, fatigue, and brain fog.
We've just read that there may be hope for us because of long covid. FINALLY people are doing research into syndromes that are brought on by viral attacks.
My neurologist believes it's a neurological condition and my psychologist believes that people GET depressed from having to live with it, and not that it causes depression!
Too many doctors here in Australia just want to blame it on depression and pretend it's not a real condition. Tell that to my body that has suffered for 40years!

I his defence, assumed cause, symptoms and treatments are not the same for all of us, there are so many conflicting research findings that I doubt there will every be a definite cause pin pointed.
The best we can do is find a doctor who believes us, tries us on treatments until we get one that suits us and reviews us and our meds/treatments at least biannually, find our own coping strategies, know our limits and hope for the best.
It is a horrendous affliction. I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.

Coming from someone with this, I started having symptoms like tender points after an accident I was in. I steer clear of antidepressants, these drugs have long term negative side effects and other issues down the road. I treat mine with diet, and other natural ways. My chiro does WONDERS. It puts your body back into homeostasis, being outta alignment has so many negative effects. Plus I suggest NAC. Its an amino acid that helps with production of glutathione, and its amazing for fibro❤
