      Sorry. I should have included this. There are several ways to run it. I just ran mine straight over the the review mirror, hiding the wire behind up above the roof cover (there is a little gap behind there). I just tied it around the mirror base and hung the wire straight down to the power socket. You can run it under the door seal rubber, down and under the dash if you want to hide the wire completely. Here is a different video that will show this a little (just the door seal, not under the dash). Go to minute 7:30 to skip the rest of the video. ruclips.net/video/GAyYh1TwtxU/видео.html

      Personally, on my Silverado 2500HD I prefer an always-on full screen rearview mirror style camera because it is really hard to see behind me when I am driving. I like to drive defensively and see what is going on behind me, and to my sides, so if something happens in front of me, and make informed actions.

    • @thejungleexplorer

      You have to run it up behind the ceiling molding, under the side molding, and under the dashboard. Personally, I just let it hand straight down, but that is just me. I don't mind seeing the wire.

      If you are talking about the T-connectos, this can occur only if the wire is not centered when you crimp it.

    Can you wire these to the rear of the trailer to see traffic while driving?

    • @thejungleexplorer
      @thejungleexplorer  4 года назад

      It is wireless so as long as the signal can reach the cab it should work. This issue would be that the rear camera still needs power, so you would have to wire it some power source. Auto-Vox has a new product that has the rear camera being power by solar. I have not tested it, but here is a link in case you might be interested in this one. It requires no wiring.

    Brilliant thank you so much for doing this installation video. I feel more confident installing mine now. One question. This is going in my camper van, I wondered if it was possible to actually cut the wire leading from the transmitter to install an on/off switch and plug it into a usb or cigarette lighter socket in the van? rather than the reverse light.. This way I could switch it on at night and use it as a it of a security camera. I wasnt sure if I cut through the wire if I would permanently damage the wire and make it unusable. Many thanks again.

    Heads up... Those crimp electrical connectors are the weak point. I call them "temporary uhaul trailer connections". I stopped using the when I was 11. But I've soldered since I was 10. They will eventually allow water into the wiring, corrode and fail, just a matter of how long. IMO 😆.
    How is the resolution and safe zone accuracy of this camera? I'm considering one for my wife's car. Thanks

    • @thejungleexplorer
      @thejungleexplorer  5 лет назад +4

      I totally agree with you. Soldering DC connections is always the best. This video was made at the request of the device manufacturer, so I have to use what comes with the kit. Early this year I was fixing up a Mini Winnie for an elderly missionary who still wants to travel and minister. I asked the Auto-Vox company it they would donate a review mirror dual camera system for the project in exchange for an install video of the system. They agreed and sent me their best system. It was a huge blessing for the old minister and has made him feel a lot more comfortable driving his RV. So, when Auto-Vox contacted me asking for a Install video for this system, I was glad to help them out.
      The video quality is good on this unit. Better than other units I have used. As far as the Safe Zone accuracy goes, I really can't say. I tend to trust my own judgment, so I don't rely on it that much. Been driving for 40 years and it is hard to break the habit of looking backwards when backing up, lol.

    • @Lapeerphoto
      @Lapeerphoto 5 лет назад +1

      @@thejungleexplorer Ditto on "Hard to break the habit"!! We rented a Jeep in Florida a couple weeks ago that had a rear camera. I couldn't trust it, but the wife liked it. Thus the reason for considering one for her car. 😁

    • @thejungleexplorer
      @thejungleexplorer  4 года назад +5

      It depends. I have some with a 180-degree lens and I find it hard to get a proper perspective of distance when backing up because it makes things look much farther away than they actually are. I prefer a more narrow view camera for backing up that gives a more natural perspective. But that is just a personal preference.
