That's a big reason I've never liked this short. I feel it's too much of a departure from the character we see in the game. Like in the game, she loves to yell "THIS IS MY KIND OF TOWN! LIGHTS, CAMERA, ACTION!" before every match in Hollywood, then the short opens with her immediately going "yeah, I don't like that stuff." Like, I get that they were going for the whole "everything she says in-game is fake" thing, but I think that's the kind of thing you have to establish much earlier, instead of two years after the character exists. So you get a lot of weird contradictory stuff like Dva teasing Soldier 76 for warning her that war isn't a game, when the short tries to play out how much war has burdened her. The short has always felt like they were trying to completely rewrite Dva's personality to make her more dramatic, instead of fleshing her out.
@@nonenone4560 don't forget her voice lines in Eichenwalde and Volskaya. She has a more somber, serious tone when commenting on the damage and destruction, hinting that there's more going on with her than the shallow exterior.

Yeah sorry about that!! We've been trying to turn the volume of the cinematics up since we've gotten that comment a lot but this one got flagged for copyright so we had to turn the volume way down😓
Why does everyone think he got friendzoned? Okay, I also thought so first, but after seeing the short several times, I think I got it right now. D.Va definitely doesn't go to those "fancy restaurants", and Dae-hyun knows her well enough to know that, so him asking for a date here makes no sense. And also pay attention to his sarcastic tone of voice when he ask her to "get him on the VIP list". They are clearly mocking the lies and exaggerations that are told about D.Va in order to make her even more of a hero in the eyes of the people. And maybe they are also mocking themselves.
Well to be honest the "she emerged without a scratch" line is not only just to keep people in the city under ease, but it is also a way to keep your enemy from knowledge. How else would you react as an enemy to a nation if they are saying "our pants are down, and we cannot protect ourselves."
this is a friendly reminder that d.va is NINETEEN. at 19 she is literally a national icon, and I'm here laying on my bed not even knowing what I have to do tomorrow lol
Less Tony Stark and more Batman. Still really smart, but everyone thinks he has this super flashy life, but in reality he's down in the Batcave with Alfred working on the Batmobile
Lore time with Nyfriom! So D.Va was actually a pro Starcraft gamer and she was always number 1! Her dad introduced her to videogames since an early age. She kinda learned to win no matter what the cost, and she is always very competitive. MEKA was not doing so good since the mechs were not piloted before, but since the omnics adapted the government drafted the country's pro players since they had top notch reflexes and tactical abilities.
I also love how Dva was always seen as the cool cute meka gamer girl from overwatch, not only in lore but also by all of us overwatch players. And then they released this animated shot and turns out that she is a soldier, a mature girl with ptsd and her own struggles about the war... like wow Bilzz that's deep.
When you were trying to think of the song at the beginning, my mind went to the chorus for the song Ghetto Superstar. Not exactly shooting star.. but its closer than firework 😅😂
The MEKA and base are actually from the South Korea military force. They created the MEKA squad to fight a colossal omnic that still rises every few months. D.va and other proffesional gamesr were recruited as pilots for the MEKA program
Im amazed by how fast Wade absorbs and understands things from these animated shorts, i had to rewatch them a few times before i noticed some of these details.
One thing that I think is important to know is that honor and glory takes place during the omnic crisis before overwatch was founded but shoting star takes place after the omnic crisis
I like that we get to see a little bit of world building here. The news is downplaying the fact 80% of the mecha squad got destroyed, and not mentioning that DVA was almost killed in the last battle. DVA is as important for public morale as she is for actual protection in future Korea apparently.
The Tony Stark/Iron Man comparison is kind of fitting for Hana/d.va, especially in this short. You can almost see her drive to protect everybody, even if it means putting herself at risk and being detrimental to her mental health. She's like Tony after witnessing space in Avengers, building all the suits for Iron Man 3/Age of Ultron to build a suit of armour around the world. Although hopefully not going that far, perhaps because she has better people to keep her in check.
They better react to the cinematic/trailer for overwatch 2. It's based after overwatch was disbanded, and Winston sent the message to old overwatch agents trying the get them back together. Love your vids, excited for the reaction for this one ^^
Shooting star actually reflects to the news item that's being talked about at the end of the cinematic. For the people that live in Korea and happened to look out over the ocean, they would've seen the MEKA explode, which would look like a shooting star. I like the way you think tho ;)
The reason the omnics in this one were more advanced is because this is the present during the second omnic crisis. Honor and glory is during the first so between then and now the omnics had time to learn and adapt and get stronger. Dva’s whole squad is former esports pros and the community is hoping some of not all become hero’s in the future.
It's not during the war, it's because the South Korea omnium is under water. It is then much harder to stop unlike others in the world (out of Russia's that hasn't been stop either) and since the war the omnium frequently attacked and improving it's omnics after each lose
Judging by the aesthetics, those were not the Omnics. Notice the black-red color theme, and the soft and lightweight design of the drones. They are from Talon (the organization that sends Widowmaker and Reaper around to do bad things)
Nope, thos are right omnics but Gwishin ones. As they say a bit after the watch, there have been many "Omniums" arpund the world, each made to work by itself to produce omnics before mistakes and "malfunctions" were found in many omnics and humans shut down the omniums. But they restarted (or got restarted) a while after and produced secretly omnics for war against humans leading to the first omics war. South Korea's omium has been built under water and that's why it is still attacking and not destroyed/shutdown again, it's too hard to access back. And so the omnics in it are frequently attacking and each time falling but upgrading their omnics. The color scheme is probably going to be to distinct the very advanced omnics from there as the color scheme purple/grey/black/red isto distinct Null sector omnics from London that however aren't from omnic war but because of omnics' oppression in London

Before this cinematic went out, I hated D-Va. I though she was too « e-girl », trying to « love » everyone only for appearance. But when this cinematic went out, my mind was totally moved. And I began to love D-Va cause she was an esport champion, knowing nothing about real fights, but she came in front of those omnics and never gave up. She’s just the exact opposite of what I though she was. Stressful. Friendly. Always working on her meka, trying to figure out how she can save the city next time. And she really do « love » everyone. That’s not an appearance at all. So now I totally love this character. I wish I could be more like her sometimes !
They (Korean government and media) aren't just protecting her - she's basically as much a soldier (and a key one at that, it seems) as she is a sort of prpaganda-figurehead the country can rally behind and look towards in their continued battle against the Gwisin-Omnics. So they basically need her to be (or to appear to be) that near-invincible meka-pilot.

Wonder if they noticed that D.va was showing guilt/signs of ptsd from the previous battle. Plus those two are friends as she clearly friendzones him at the end.
I love that Wade picked up on the propaganda side of D.Va! She definitely has a public image that doesn't quite match her real self, but one that has to be kept up to keep morale up in Korea. Both South Korea and Russia are dealing with second omnic crises - though technically on Korea's side it never stopped - so they have a similar situation in having to deal with something the rest of the world has been able to move past from.
Avenger wise she is actually more of a Captain America to me, especially in the end when media told everyone she survived without a scratch to boost people morale where in truth she had an injury~
Why hasn't Marc already in toothpaste or teeth whitening commercials. Amazing teeth, wouldnt be surprised if they were like Ross's in Friends when a black light goes on.
U guys need to check out origin stories of heroes as they provide more information than animated shorts, some of them can even reveal the timeline of Overwatch universe.
D.va do this all not alone, she is part of a organisation to protect the city. She is a part of a 4 Mech Squadron in this base, but 3 of them a broken in last battle - this is not "Iron Man" . Not she gives the money, the state do it for this defense organisation, she is only a "soldier".

Both South Korea and Russia are dealing with second omnic crises - though technically on Korea's side it never stopped - so they have a similar situation in having to deal with something the rest of the world has been able to move past from.
Haley must have graduated at the top of her class because those overwatch recaps are on fire!
These intros is what I live for :D Love them
She tinkers with her mechs to make them fit her but the base model is manufactured by MEKA
All of the cinematics are great, but I'd say the comics are worth it too, they aren't very long.
Avenger wise she is actually more of a Captain America to me, especially in the end when media told everyone she survived without a scratch to boost people morale where in truth she had an injury~
Yes!!! GMineo did it again with another awesome reaction video!
Great Video 🤗🖒 keep it up! So far I know that Boy is D.va's brother
Echo has the best Lord to go through it a must see to see
Why hasn't Marc already in toothpaste or teeth whitening commercials. Amazing teeth, wouldnt be surprised if they were like Ross's in Friends when a black light goes on.
U guys need to check out origin stories of heroes as they provide more information than animated shorts, some of them can even reveal the timeline of Overwatch universe.
They said in the video they will but after animated shorts (so in four weeks)
D.va do this all not alone, she is part of a organisation to protect the city. She is a part of a 4 Mech Squadron in this base, but 3 of them a broken in last battle - this is not "Iron Man" . Not she gives the money, the state do it for this defense organisation, she is only a "soldier".
You guys should watch the origin stories of the characters, its good as the cinematics. And gives off a lot of info as well
They said they will after the animated shorts in the video
Wade just seems like the coolest guy man lmao
Recommendation:
When you finish the origin stories, watch Juston Bibero's Overwatch meme videos
I’m really looking forward to you all watching the Junkertown short!
THIS GIRL IS IN ALMOST EVERY OVERWATCH TEAM GAME
Finally! I knew you would like this one 💗
"Tom Clancy’s The Division - "Yesterday" TV Spot trailer" this is an incredibly cool trailer, I highly recommend making a reaction to it, I think you'll like it)
Dva just called the dude just a friend OMEGALUL
Do "Reunited" overwatch animation short next guys.
Ilike your ways of reaction so much.
If they keep order they will do JunkerTown first
He just got friendzoned LMFAO
Im so excited for the last cinematic T-T . Could you all also read the overwatch comics.
animated D.va: Controlled
D.va mains: Feeder
From what I have seen when I play
Yay finally another reaction for overwatch :) love these but wish they weren’t days apart sometimes lol
Haha so cute!!!👏😂😂 after the song haaha G, GGG mineo hahahaha!! You should do recording guys!! I reallllllllly love you all guys😭❤ keep going stay safe and Godbless go mineo GO!!!
This cinematic is a good representation of some D.Va players who just run in to the enemy teams by themselves.
I hope they don't forget 'Junkertown: The Plan'
I cant wait to see you guys react to the overwatch 2 cinematic.
I love the Gwishin, they are the coolest, if only the killed D.va then i wouldn't have to deal with her bloody Defense matrix in game, i have to deal with Sigma as it is, and then they buff her matrix, Jeff does not like me playing Bastion, but the satisfaction of slaying her as Gwishin Bastion is enough to satisfy my bloodlust until she returns from spawn.
Not that big of a matrix buff
Fuckin love this groups synergy
Damn almost 20k noice I already secured my spot as an og fan 🤟🏼
Before you guys react to the Zero Hour short, can you guys watch The Story So Far? It recaps all the other shorts and gives good context for what will hapoen. You can combine the two of them into one reaction video because The Story So Far is only about three minutes long.
Shooting Star is my favorite overwatch short. And D.va is best girl. The mech she's working on in the end is the famous carbon fiber skin for Dva and please react to the origin stories
this one is so boring though
Junkertown "the plan" should also be on the list
Classic rock my young friends. “Shooting Star” by Bad Company.
