@@SamiDaComposer I came from an mxl 990 into a focusrite 2i2, to a u87 into a BAE 1073 and Apollo x8. There is a HUGE difference. Ultimately the mix is greater than the sum of its parts. I am NOT saying that great sounding mixes cannot be made from amateur gear in NON suitable environments, I’m saying that the sonic detail of the vocals in particular will never be the same as your favorite artists BECAUSE of the gear. No matter if you’re using a slate VMS emulation or UAD mic pre emulation, it lacks specific magic of gear. probably should have been more specific in hindsight, but considering it’s a vocal chain video I figured I already was. And in terms of the actual MIX itself, matching the top mixers sonic signature is not achievable without gear. It is impossible to mix like Mike dean without his specific outboard gear. Alex tumay is a clean mixer who only recently (last 5 years or so) started using outboard gear (culture vulture, unfair child etc…). Great mixes are always possible from any equipment

Not really because of emulation, but it’s worth it cause it’s the real thing that is accurately what it is… nothing else can beat that hardware in my opinion..

I really don’t like the sound of the C800. It sounds too harsh and sibilant to me. And still, I would kill for that setup. 😂

The demos from an upcoming artist I produce sounds way better, she is using a RODE NT1 straight into an Audient Interface in her bedroom, total 370usd. You don't need this gear in 2022, you need knowledge. In my studio I have some expensive Neumann mics, bus sometimes the SM58 is the right call. More expensive is NOT better in music production.

Very true however She is just showing what She use because people asked, she is not telling anyone that they need the same as her and probably dont care what other people use.

My neighbour record song with $105 mic Audio Technica AT2020 and focusrite 2i2. And make number 1 hit album with it. More 50 millions streams only on Spotify.

That's great, I personally think that I can make all the sounds of the Minimoog that cost £5000 with Synapse audio ledgend vst for £80 but do I need to go tell every Minimoog owner they wasted there money? Nope.

@@HOLLASOUNDS Lol he's not telling her she wasted her money. He's making sure the unknowing people reading these comments don't get the assumption that only $10,000+ vocal chains can sound good. Not that she's saying "this is what you have to be doing" but people might think that if they don't know any better.
Yk instead of fixing a shitty mixing job they just assume it was their hardware and go ball out just to suck with good equipment instead because "karra sounds good".
