Even in a rural area people didn't give a crap. Although, there was this one lady who wouldn't slow down at the scene and unfortunately she didn't see the State Trooper sitting there at the wreck either.

Warren, Back in the Eighties, a local trucking company s owners son took a load to New Jersey with his KW Cabover with an 8V92 in it and when he woke up the ext day at the reciever, the truck would crank normally, but wouldn't start. He said it had plenty of fuel in it, so his dad sent a wrecker 500 miles with another truck on the hook for him and brought the broke down one back home to the Detroit Diesel branch. They didn't have it for an hour, and they called him and said it was fixed and ready to pick up. All they did was put a whole lot of oil back in it(the kid had been idling it all the time and wasn't checking the oil). I know how much you like Detroit Diesels, haha.

As far as the people moving over, I had an old tow truck driver tell me it used to be common for them to toss a 4x4 out into the lane of traffic to get people to slow down while they were hooking up. Cheers! 🛠🚛👍🏼
P.S. For example: Michigan's Move Over law, requires motorists to slow down and move over for stationary vehicles with flashing, rotating, or oscillating lights activated. You'll find, the law exists in all 50 states, but the specifics vary slightly. On a side note... Don't Lose Your Sense of Humor, Warren. My dog used to chase people on a bike a lot.
