Jeremy, your course has been so helpful. I'm currently in a (work sponsored) CCNA boot camp and am finding myself confounded by the way the instructor is teaching it. How come SNMP is so barebones on packet tracer? There are so few commands to practice on there. Nevertheless, thanks Jeremy for your continued good work.
hello Jeremy first of all thank you very much for the entire playlist and in particular for this video. I have a question, is it possible to retrieve the OIDs of network equipment found on a remote network?
For example, if I want to monitor my company's network from home with an NMS, can I access the MIBs, OIDs of my router, switches and server through the Internet? thank you.
Wow very impressive!! I must say you really know your stuff and it shows... I'm here in Hawaii at a very well renowned IT firm. let's just say and me and my colleagues watched some of your vids on snmp and other entry default ports. We clearly missed some configs that obviously weren't need it lol. With some Oracle & PAlto servers, do you currently work in Europe or here in the states???🤙🤙🤙🏆 .
@8:50 Does not the NMS need the MIB of the managed device as well?... this is because it needs to understand what information can be requested of the managed device?
Hi Jeremy! Can you advise in the best use of ankie flash cards as a daily review ? like how many times a day and how many days per week study the flash cards and the order per topic, like if you are currently on SNMP would it be recommended to study flash cards from previews chapters like HSRP ? just to give an example...
I combine all of the flash cards into a single deck, and then just let the Anki algorithm do the work, simply doing all of the scheduled reviews for the day. I usually do them on the train, or while I drink my morning coffee if I'm working from home.

Cisco switches support SNMP by default, no need to install it (just like you don't need to install spanning-tree protocol or other protocols on it). It communicates with the manager by sending SNMP message to it from the switch's management IP address (covered in Day 42).

how we can generate traffic in networking?
So does the inform message type uses "response" message to response to the manager? If not, why not?
The inform message is a message to the manager, so there's no need to send a response to the manager after sending an inform.
Can you suggest some book for ccna.
I recommend Wendell Odom's or Todd Lammle's books!
grate100%
Which UDP port for Response message type? Both?
The response will be sent to the source port of the message it's responding to, so it depends.
hi friend i was wandering why in quiz question no.1 answers B and C are not considered correct also?
B and C are messages sent from the managed devices to the NMS to alert it when something happens. The NMS doesn't send those messages.
