Appreciate the tips on how to fix the sticking at just started on my Sierra. Worked perfectly after the good cleaning. The tips you give out are gems that make using the griddle much more satisfying! What you do is awesome and keeps us interested in griddling!! Thanks!
Thank you! These are the kinds of comments that keep us motivated to make these videos - we love sharing our love of cooking, and what we are learning along the way! Take care fam!🔥🔥
1. So awesome on the book!! 2. As far as sticking, learn temperature and patience. 3. Learn the amount of fat you need, and the type of fat your using. 4. Always enjoy! We're cooking for friends and family!
Just did the baking soda clean on my ultimate 3 burner and worked awesome. Just had a small patch that stuck but came off easy. Thanks guys. Oh and can't wait to get my hands on the cookbook. Griddle on.
Just to let you know I tried the cleaning method today on my Blackstone E-Series 22” and IT WORKED! Thank you so much. I was so worried I messed up my ceramic cooktop.
Great tip with the baking Soda, going to try it. I used a system (instead of sandblasting) to carefully clean surfaces on wood and metal for car and furniture restauration with baking Soda called "Sodablaster" and it works so great. I have to say I use a little film of oil on the griddle surface after cleaning, and start to prepare the surface with baking spray which does a pretty good job not to burn the surface with things to be grilled. My griddle was pretty cheap from a Spain manufacturer (150 $) with three burners on a propane bottle, but doing the job really good if you turn the heat on high most of the time. It is sometimes a matter of the coating of the griddle if you get these nasty hotspots or not. Cheers from Germany, Bernd
Ummmm, nothing sticks to your griddle gents you have the superior Pit BOSS...glad to see you throwing some help to the stoners...and great looking book gents..another banger!!!

My wife used my blue diamond skillet and got something stuck to it. Of course food was sticking to it in that place. I contacted blue diamond and they said put some water in it and get it hot for 5 minutes. Then use magic eraser on it. Worked very well. Kevin
Awesome! We have heard of other Things too, like the Pink Stuff! Haven’t heard of the magic erasers… will definitely have to check it out. Thank you so much Kevin! Griddle on brother!!!😁❤️🤙
My brand new 3 burner sierra top had dimples showing through from welds underneath and coating flaking off outside front edge..never used ! Pitboss is sending me a new griddle top ! 👍👍
So cool to see you got your copy of the Cookbook, congrats once again. I can't wait to get my copy! Great video today, it's nice that these type of videos can come from your learning process, experience and expertise. It's amazing what you can learn just from griddle cooking in general. Since I have had my Blackstone I have cooked more with my cast iron inside (when I can't get outside), and even the way I clean my non-stick skillets. Heat and water is so much better than in the sink with soap and tap water. Anyway, nice work gents. Hope you're having an amazing weekend. I went to an October Fest event all evening, it was fun. Unfortunately I can't really drink Beer (alcohol), but at least I can enjoy a brat and pretzel. I'll try and text you Sunday... kind of having a packed weekend,. I was also watching my Mariners in Postseason Baseball for the 1st time since 2001! Since they beat Toronto in two, they aren't playing Sunday. I love baseball almost as much as food, almost. Griddle On!
Woot woot!! So awesome brother!! Great to know about the weekend being packed, Brett and I were going to reach out, but time got away from us filming!! We’ll be in touch brother!!🔥🔥
Thank you for this video! My Blackstone E-Series 22” has some stubborn brown stains on the ceramic surface. I will try the hot soapy water with the baking soda.
A question.. I have an indoor 17" electric Blackstone, supposed to be nonstick.. granted not cleaned off right away after every cook, mostly breakfast almost angry morning, and it's basically no longer nonstick.. Will this hell bring it back to life?
I preordered my cookbook, can't wait to get it just in time for my birthday!! 😂. I think money well spent and good eats coming from that cookbook!! 👍. If you own a griddle, why wouldn't you get it? Well done guys!! Well done!!! 👍
Hey fam! This would be exclusive to the ceramic top. We’ve made a few videos on cleaning and reseasoning the Blackstone too! Otherwise, a simple cleaning with hot water, and then when the griddle is cooled, we apply thin coats of oil until the paper towel/rag is clear (no more dark spots from the foods on the griddle).
Just got a blackstone camping griddle with ceramic coated aluminum and was having trouble finding information on caring for the ceramic griddle. Thank you
Ok as I mentioned I was boycotting amazon but I have to order your book! ♥️just placed my order looking forward to getting it I’m sure it will be exceptional!
Good show, guys. Just ot of curiousity, though it's not the recommended practice, have you ever fried or srambled eggs on the dry surface, as in no butter or oil? If I had a ceramic top, I'd have try it.

So sorry we are just getting to this now! We’ve done chops a few times on the Blackstone (vids on our channel), but that reminds us we need to do them here on the Put Boss!!🔥🔥🤙🤙
I believe the sticking could be attributed to having the griddle too hot to cook on. If the butter doesn’t turn brown then the griddle is at the right temperature that I have experienced
On the flip side of that, I went through a period of too low of temps in an effort to stop sticking. Running temps too low never gave my Blackstone a chance to re-season so before long nearly the entire surface was sticking badly. So I do agree that temperature plays a big part in keeping your griddle from becoming a source of frustration. “Stick Happens”
Just bought my first griddle! Watched a bunch of videos by you guys and I appreciate it! I have made breakfast, burgers, and quesadillas so far! My only question is I am in Gainesville fl so super humid like you guys, if I don’t use it for a period of time should you oil it every couple weeks or something?
Hey fam! You are good to go without oil! Where at in Gainesville are you, we are here as well!! (Brett lives just outside Gainesville, where we film half the time)🔥🔥
Just so everyone knows: most flat top grills are NOT non-stick coated. Following this with a typical flat top griddle designed for seasoning (I.e Blackstone, Camp Chef, Weber, or anything commercial grade.) would be very bad advice. You use soap on a tyical flat top griddle once, when you first buy it and never again. With anything meant to be seasoned, soap destroys the seasoning. The seasoning is the non-stick surface. Layers of oil are burned into the surface intentionally. Key for those is: FIRST USE: 1) Clean it with soap and water and only when its new and never used (yep, soap used here and never again). 2) Turn it on high for 10-15 minutes 3) Add just enough seasoning oil (Flaxseed, Avocado, Grapeseed, etc) to cover surface while its hot 4) Let it burn in until it stops smoking (~10-15 minutes) 5) Add oil and repeat burn in 3-4 times total 6) Now that its ready (seasoned), whenever you use it, heat to high again and add fresh seasoning again (one time) 7) Cook away CLEANUP STEPS after its seasoned and used: 1) Put on high and add water (no soap) 2) Use scraper to move food debris to catch basin at back until there is no more to scrape 3) Wipe off water with rag or paper towels 4) Add oil and season one time (now its ready to store or cover) The advice in this video is for non-stick surfaces ONLY. Personally, I would never buy a non-stick (not meant to be seasoned) flat top. That coating will wear out and it will never be capable of seasoning when it does. Griddles that are seasoned last lifetimes. As far as I know, all restaurants use seasoned flat tops for many reasons.
Just a question… have you watched our channel before? We made it clear that this is for the ceramic surface. We have cooked and seasoned and cleaned on all surfaces. Although we appreciate you spending the time to educate our followers, we have several videos on all that was explained. We really do appreciate the intent. Much love, griddle on.😁❤️🤙
@@trevorwesterdahl6245 You did a good job explaining, was watching on phone and maybe I missed it but didn’t realize it was t a real flat top and was getting a box of baking soda out. 😅
It’s not necessary… with the steel, you can use a pumice stone to repair, and oil to reseason. Feel free to reach out with any questions you have with this unit, or the steel units, we got you!😁
Thank you so much for watching! The ceramic never needs to be seasoned. Pit Boss recommends putting a small layer of oil after the clean to preserve it. 🤙🤙
I have the 36 air fryer Blackstone But thought of getting about a 22 inch for tailgating. You have used both which would be your preference between the two , Blackstone or Pit Boss? Thank You
I just bought my husband a LOCO 3 Burner griddle and cooked some chorizo and eggs on it yesterday cleaned it up oiled it and this morning he said the chorizo stained it or made it look rusty any suggestions
My blackstone griddle surface definitely does not look that smooth. I put 4 layers of the blackstone conditioner after buying it. Maybe it'll get better after a couple times used. Today I used it for.the first time making burgers for the family and everything was sticking.
Have you guys heard about ENO LA Plancha cast iron enameld griddle??? This one is totally non-stick and you can use metal tools on it. Simply the best on the market according to me.
I feel like it has been a while since you did a griddle review/checkup on your griddles. It’s been around a year now, and I’m curious to see a close up on the non stick. Also, how do those poor unused Blackstones look? Ha ha
Thank you so much fam, we did a closeup here in the video, is there something specific you wanted to see? The other unit we have still looks like it did on day one! Well, the surface anyway - hominid Florida hasn’t been as kind to the shelves and metal on the outer unit.😂😂🔥🔥
I thought our new 21 inch e series griddle (indoor electric griddle) was done for till this video 😭 the stain looked like it was part of the griddle not on it. But I did this method. Left on for 35 minutes on top of the hot soapy water mix and it came off and is now clean! Was about to call Blackstone until I saw this thank you so much 😭 ( this stain happened after trying to make steak fajitas and trying to "char" it heavily ...bad idea 😂) I think the outdoor one is better for that. I mightve not made sure oil or water was on the griddle at all times. Where did I go wrong 😂
Hey guys, love your channel, kind of new to it but not new to outdoor cooking. Got a Blackstone about two years ago and absolutely love it, but I’ve noticed on your channel and another channel - Your black stone looks like a black mirror, I have struggled to get mine to look that way, do you have any advice for getting it that well seasoned? I’m not on Instagram so I have to try and contact you here. Hope to hear from you.
I wish mine would get hot enough to get something to stick. 3 different propane tanks, 4 different regulators and the max I get with all 3 on high is 350f. Barely hot enough to simmer. I noticed that Walmart doesn't have these online anymore either. Customer service was no help after spending hours trying to get them to answer the phone. I have a $420 piece of junk. Luckily Walmart fully refunded the cost and told me not to return it, they have too many that have been returned.
We are so sorry you have had a bad experience Dawn. We will let our reps at PB know… please reach out. We love these units so much. We are here for you. Much love.❤️😁🤙
Hey brother! In one of the Facebook groups, someone had a great suggestion that seemed to really help - raising the pegs of the griddles that sit on the frame - while it seems like a small thing, it lifts the griddle from the flames, and also allows for more air to flow. Hope it helps brother!🤙🤙
Seems to me the non stuck surface is going. When you first switched from blackstone to this nothing stuck, like a non stick should not. But recently here your surface has been wearing, look back at some previous videos where you will find irregular marks. My guess is that griddle will become a paper weight shortly since it can not be resurfaced.
We’ve always had some sticking - we’ve addressed it in a few videos, maybe you didn’t see those ones? The surface looks identical to day one - no wear at all. Also, this is Brett’s unit, the one at my house has 120+ cooks in it, and the surface looks like it did on day one. We agree that someday they almost likely wear, but we haven’t gotten there yet. Cheers.
Welp, if you check the many Blackstone forums, this is a very common problem… we addressed it here even in this vid. Congratulations on a perfect griddle. Cheers.
As someone who has watched the WALTWINS since the beginning and loves the videos and the recipes, Ive had my Blackstone for a few years and I did feel inclined to buy a PITTBOSS griddle because i trusted there judgment. But after a few months of use I noticed it wasn't the same especially with the sticking and at the same time I get better crusts with the Blackstone. So I do the same recipes that i love from the waltwins with the Blackstone because it's clearly a better griddle
@@proudmamaofboysss3267 thank you for the honest feedback - we’ve had sticking on both the Blackstone and the Pit Boss. The deep clean restored the Pit Boss back to original nonstick, the same as reseasoning worked on the Blackstone. They are both excellent units, and we find that there is just something for everyone, regardless of the preference. We appreciate the support!🤙🤙
Thank you so much fam - we have a ton of respect for the Blackstone and the company, but in an attempt to work with them, we were unable to find an avenue - they only work with their own paid content creators on their channel. Pit Boss offered us an incredible opportunity to work with them, and we have been so blown away by how amazing it has been to work with such a remarkable company! We still do our best to show cooks that can be done on all griddle surfaces! We hope this makes sense and that you’ll stick with us, and for sure, we will always answer any questions you may have! Much love fam, GRIDDLE ON!💙💙🔥🔥
Is it weird? Do you genuinely not know families where the siblings are friends? I may find that more weird if you didn’t.🤷♂️. And if I can ask, what’s the intent with the comment anyway?
Clickbait? You Thumbnail shows the regular Steel Griddle yet your entire video was about the Nonstick Griddle using plastic spatula. Oh, and selling a book.
This is a ceramic coated griddle - you absolutely clean it with soap and water. The cold rolled steel you do not put oil, just like we pointed out in the video. Before you leave a snarky comment, make sure you actually watch the video and understand the content. Cheers.

4) Let it burn in until it stops smoking (~10-15 minutes)
5) Add oil and repeat burn in 3-4 times total
6) Now that its ready (seasoned), whenever you use it, heat to high again and add fresh seasoning again (one time)
7) Cook away
CLEANUP STEPS after its seasoned and used:
1) Put on high and add water (no soap)
2) Use scraper to move food debris to catch basin at back until there is no more to scrape
3) Wipe off water with rag or paper towels
4) Add oil and season one time (now its ready to store or cover)

This hasn’t been my experience with my sierra at all. I’ve yet to even have to turn it up from low. It gets crazy hot
The baking soda, would be more like when you clay bar a car
Yes! This is an excellent comparison! Thank you for watching and sharing!🤙🤙
The biggest issue I think on mine is that low is low 400 degrees.
@@waltwins Thanks! I'll give that a try!
Well I guess you can not use a belt sander on that surface. HAHA
Haha!!! Good call!!😂😂🔥🔥
And when will the STICK HAPPENS T-Shirts be available??? 😂
Haha!! Right?!😂😂. It’s all I could think about when Brett said it!!🔥🔥
Seems to me the non stuck surface is going.
Cheers.
Seriously dude 🙄
Baking soda.
Thanks, we actually posted the video showing how to use baking soda. Cheers!
Idk my blacksone never has food sticking
We don’t own a pit boss. We have a 36” Camp Chef and a 17” Blackstone. Are you going to cook on your Blackstone again? It seems it’s been shunned 😢
Much love fam, GRIDDLE ON!💙💙🔥🔥
The soap is the reason your food is sticking.
Thanks for watching - this is ceramic cookware - soap and water are recommended for cleaning. Cheers.
That’s weird that 2 brothers hang around that much together
Is it weird? Do you genuinely not know families where the siblings are friends? I may find that more weird if you didn’t.🤷♂️. And if I can ask, what’s the intent with the comment anyway?
Clickbait? You Thumbnail shows the regular Steel Griddle yet your entire video was about the Nonstick Griddle using plastic spatula. Oh, and selling a book.
Um, no. This is Brett, and that is my Sierra. I took that picture. No clickbait here brother. Thanks for watching. Griddle on.🤙
Never put soap on your griddle. Season it better.
This is a ceramic coated griddle - you absolutely clean it with soap and water. The cold rolled steel you do not put oil, just like we pointed out in the video. Before you leave a snarky comment, make sure you actually watch the video and understand the content. Cheers.
@@waltwins Before you make a snarky reply to someone who didnt hear that...just lost a sub, scrub.
