This guy is not the arrogant prick they make him out to be on the news. He isn't some CEO who sits there and counts his billions, he is a hands on developer. they want to bring him down because he is a threat to the big pharms. I hope he wins his case and continues on his quest to fight infectious disease.

clain, shhhhhh. the real reason all these ppl like him is cuz he is politically aligned with them and supports Trump. There is comment on this video saying "heart disease is the #1 natural killer, but no ones care cuz it kills the white man. HIV kills a tiny tiny tiny amount of ppl, mostly gays and everyone gives a shit" now if this comment doesnt demonstrate the blind support for shkreli, Idk what does. There is no pill to cure heart disease. But there IS a pill to help ppl with HIV and that's why ppl are mad. But, they ignore that and upvote the comment anyways. Sad. Bigly sad.

The media only cares about headlines, it's easier to paint someone as the bad guy and way more people will pay attention. Plus he screwed insurance companies and the media always seems find dirt on anyone that actually harms them for some reason. Plus most people are too dumb to understand what he did and just stick to he's a bad guy because actually thinking gives them a headache. I've broken down what he did to people I know and they still think he's a bad guy because what he did looks bad if you just look at the headline.

He goes into the conversation with everything in his head telling him that Shkreli is a monster, but is aware that he could be wrong so he's willing to respectfully give Shkreli a chance to explain himself. He also keeps his emotions in check so that he can focus on what he is being told and judge it to the best of his ability. We could all try to be more like him and actually learn from each other or we could keep deciding that everyone who thinks differently is a moron and keep the giant circle jerk of ignorant hate going. the power of the media is shown in Martin Shkreli's case. the fact that people judge him purely on the news is insane, only social media brings out both sides of a story sadly. - Martin Shkreli is doing everything right, people say he is trying to be famous, but he is just showing as much of himself to the public as possible for people to see his side and not just the media being clicky school bitches and making rumors on who they think is cool and who should be hated.

I was among the first, shouting from the rooftops the fact (that nobody wanted to hear), that this guy was only raising the price for insurance companies, and that the "bad guy" exposure was literally the best gift he could give the HIV community. I'd give anything to have this guy in the MDA community (my two sons have DMD). Insurance companies post record profits every year, thus taking money AWAY from pharm and healthcare, whereas investor moves like this bring the money BACK to healthcare.
It doesn't take a genius to see the value, however you can spot someone who cannot see past media sensationalism immediately. These people are known as sheep. Fuck insurance companies.

That's because it is your right. Unless you're a minor, I suppose. invoking your fifth amendment right does not make you a "low life". He did go in front of congress for nothing. "I take zero dollars in salary...My company loses money every month, every quarter, every year..."
Let me explain something to all the Shkreli sympathizers...
Shkreli is in a lot of trouble regarding the previous company that he owned -- and now he's up shits creek with his shareholders. Consequently -- as a way to solve his immediate issue -- he found a drug that was flying under the radar and slightly neglected, and used the increase of pricing in an long term effort to please his (displeased) investors. He keeps throwing around the underlining reason "we need to raise money so we can use it for RD" .....yeah i.e. a crock of bullshit! Everything that he's doing now, with his (new) company, is a direct consequence to his failures with his previous company. Don't believe me....do a little poking around regarding his previous business practices and why he stands trial.

Everett: Not sure if anyone else commented on this, but if you're going to interview someone, try to interrupt as minimal as possible, including trying to finish their sentences for them. You'll note that Martin didn't interrupt you when you speak, but your interruptions were almost constant. I don't know how much prep time you had for this, just a suggestion. The problem that almost nobody sees (because Shkreli never mentions it)
is that none of the modern drugs that cost fortunes for patients were
EVER as cheap as a dollar 70 years ago like daraprim and none of the
drugs he mentions are 70 years old. He missed addressing one of the
biggest reasons why the public was outraged.
That's the problem with daraprim and Shkreli.
Just because there is an effective drug that treats a rare infectious disease that is cheap and 70 years old does not mean it should be made expensive to fit newer drugs of modern medicine that are more expensive and don't even treat parasitic infections.
He's mentioning ground-breaking HIV therapies and Hep C therapies without which would be a death sentence just 30 years ago.
Daraprim doesn't treat HIV, it treats toxoplasmosis, so why he's comparing it to brand new, incredibly more expensive for much more common infections is strange. A treatment for a parasitic infection is no where even remotely close to the same thing as viral therapies used to treat Hep C or HIV: Hep C is a flavivirus and HIV is an extremely variant retrovirus that actively changes it's conformation.
Toxoplasmosis is a parasite that has never ever changed, and if it becomes symptomatic in immunosuppressed patients, it doesn't change its conformation to resist current drug therapies, unlike HIV. The whole reason why curative HIV therapy is groundbreaking is that it prevents replication of an ever-changing virus. The virus forever be adapting to avoid our immune system. It's the equivalent of a 'smart' virus. Let's call it the iVirus and it specializes in evading the immune system and actively kills CD4 T-cells.
Comparatively, toxoplasmosis is a 'flip phone' virus. You just treat it with pyramethamine, monitor the folate levels, and it's dead.
How does that even compare to HIV treatment or monoclonal antibody therapies for cancer? The newer treatments are just that: brand-spanking new. 70 years ago, there was no such thing as monoclonal antibody anticancer therapies and he's trying to put pyramethamine in the same class just because it treats a complication of iimmunosuppression?? WHAT? How are those two things even remotely similar and a good reason to justify the price?
That's like saying aspirin should be more expensive because it costs thousands of dollars to surgically implant a pain-relief pump for patients that suffer some type of neuropathy.

My doctor even kept me on an antibiotic I was allergic to and caused something called red mans syndrome where my skin would turn red and burn like acid in the body and blow my vein out and even hinder my picc line but my doctor assumed my insurance wouldn't cover what he called "liquid gold" but we got them to. I would say over 10,000 million dollars spent on antibiotics for me ultimately lost my leg anyway as the MRSA was too bad and I became septic which I am thankful for as I now have my life back.
