Damn, there goes my hope of ever creating a realistic model. This level of attention to detail, at that scale...(rigging this thing?) is amazing. I am jealous of your patience.
The devotion you gave to the Yamato is exceptional and the results are extraordinary. You are an artist. You did not stop until the model matched your vision of what it should look like.
That's what I was thinking. I'd like to see an interview with the guys who make these photo-etches kits. Plus I wonder how many of these Yamoto detailing kits are sold and made...
Good thing this wasn't in 1:350. Can you imagine the time spent painting sailor's uniforms? 🤣 The seaplanes came out beautifully, great job! Thanks as always for your commentary, the tips and tricks are appreciated. Wax paper! 💥
Plasmo: "This kit was a bit lacking in detail. so i scratch built a time machine, went back to the Philadelphia Experiment machine, duplicated and upgraded it to make copies of ships, went back to WW2, used the machine on the Yamato, went and built another machine to reduce the atomic space between particles, and shrunk the Yamato copy to 1/700 scale. Then added some photoetch and scratch built bits anyway" :D Epic build.
EPIC video David! Of all the scale modelers on RUclips I know of you are the BEST. Many people can shoot some video of a model in a box. Some can even shoot video of a model they've built. This Fujimi Yamato was painstakingly shot over a year with so many detailed magnified assembly footage I can't believe it. You are an excellent modeler AND videographer. I can't wait to see what you do next.
When you watch it on PC or laptop every part seems to be larger than in reality. Recently I got to build 1/700 battleship and I was like "Yo! Plasmo is crazy to do all of these tiny details!". Amazing job! Love you, man!

A few days ago I received the Yamato model on a 1/350 scale. Now I am waiting for the glues I ordered to come and start making the beast of the sea, after 12 years of inactivity (since 2009) in the construction of models. Two of the last models I made were the USS Missouri model and a Jaguar E-Type. Your video with the construction of your own model of Yamato, is excellent and helped me get back into the spirit of certain things that I should pay attention to during construction. Keep up the great work.
Stick with it man. You have a great eye for detail and you produce fantastic models that are 20 times better than museum quality. Any of your models deserves to be preserved forever as an example of true master craftmenship.

I have saved your video to help me, when I do my models one day,, A good day to you Sir,, May it bring peace and sunshine.... PS

The wave motion gun arrives next Tuesday and she'll be ready to take on the Gamillon Empire. Seriously, beautiful model. Perhaps you could place it outside in natural light with appropriate background and she would look like the real Yamato.
I’m glad you mentioned how long it took you to build this, because I was really curious about that. ONE YEAR! Wow! I bet you WERE glad to finally finish this. Incredible job!
Wow, this video changed my mind about modelling warships of that kind. Before I saw this, I considered warships mainly as boring models with a grey upper part and a red downside part. I didn't care much about details. Your work has drawn my attention to the details. And imho it elevates modelling from craftmanship to art.

The fact you have the patience to do all 25 AA guns is crazy
True
Still it didn’t save him
If only you could build them, as quick as the video!
Ouuuuuuu got the only liked comment. Thanks
My jaw dropped when he showed the sheet of the other 24 😳
When parts get so small there has to be a warning about inhaling them, I'm afraid that's beyond me. Watching you do it gives me mad respect for you.
I catch myself holding my breath just watching!
Clockworks can be similar - I was fixing a mechanical watch built 80 years ago and the screws inside were about 1/4 the size of a grain of rice.
Thank you for that comment. I heard him say something about the dangers of inhaling, but I was unable to understand exactly what he said due to his accent. Wow!

It's sad that he calls me a modeler even tho I'm to poor to afford a model kit

Keep at it. I'm pretty much on par with this dude. I'm 53 & build my first kit 45 years ago. Just stay at it !!
