Should I be watching this while on a plant ban? No… will I anyway? Yes

Wow I loved this video and the chat at the end. May is my birthday month and I got 5 plants and I’m in this headspace of “I gotta get them all” and FOMO even though this plants aren’t expensive. And I don’t like that at all, instead of really being excited for one plant, as I get my orders or go to a plant shop, I think I’m chasing more of the feel of buying a new plant then the genuine enjoyment of taking care of them. I really liked the ending chat, thank you for walking us through your thinking

Yesss you’re right on, it’s like collecting for the sake of it rather than cherishing each one? Glad you could relate to what I said. 😊

I really enjoyed that little chat at the end :)
I definitely hit a peak with anthurium when I purchased a ton of them in a short period. Eventually I found that I could breed my plants, make money off them, and met an entire community with whom I made friends with.
My main focus now is in obtaining clones and that’s making me excited all over again with anthurium haha.
That deep diving feeling definitely comes in waves! Like you mentioned, being patient can absolutely bring you more joy!

I relate to what you said a lot! That’s great you were able to reignite your passion with anthurium. And you know what they say, patience is a virtue 🙃
This hobby really brings that home lol. Thanks for watching! 💚

My Silver Blush is my favorite humidity plant. It glitters in the light like a twilight vampire. Surprised not many others have it.

Silver blush is a very beautiful plant! I think right now more focus is on dark anthurium but the super silvery ones are pretty as well.

Yep that is me! I am in deep dive mode with Anthuriums right now. I was more of a Alocasia, Philodendron gal before, but when I saw the Queen it was all over with the obsession began. There are worst things we can spend our money on and as much joy they give to us why not?

How funny we bought a lot of the same plants/from the same sellers in the last couple months. Great taste 😆

I'm with you. And I know exactly what sellers you bought those from. Part of me wonders if in 2 years we'll have a bunch of basic Crystallinums. I need to chill on the paps and Carlas too.

oh yeah, I definitely start buying the crap out of one genus of plants and then have way too many. I tend to do it more with orchids (which is why I have literally 50 Cattleya rex). With Anthurium, I haven't hit that yet, I'm more trying to get different leaf colors and sizes and textures. Because breeding Anthurium is so much easier than orchids, I'd like to experiment with making my own crosses and see what comes out. For example, I have a Blue Velvet Rainbowfish x papi (FS x RL) which has a beautiful dark velvety iridescent leaf but the veining is less than desirable (it needs to be either more prominent or less). I think crossing it with clarinervium or besseae would have good results. I've also got a Silver Peru that I bought as a chonk and now that I see how the mature leaves will look (they are highly glossed, very rigid, medium green elongated hearts with large lobes), I'd like to see if it can cross with a papi or a waroc and see what pops out.

ooo orchids I have not gotten into but I don't need another genus to be obsessed with lol. that blue velvet papi hybrid sounds beautiful! gotta love all the possibilities with anthurium. thanks for watching 💚

Damn can we say plant "growers" gone wild? So many people/new companies naming and renaming plants & "hybrids" from pseudo new hybrids plants. All these new plant "breeders"/sellers and implying they're botanist is all craziness and an attempt to profit off of this plant trend befor the plant bubble bust. I cannot pin point which consumers are falling for these rare. new plants and paying high price for plants that 1) Plant hybrids and cultivars take a long time to create in research and establish stable hardy plants 2) A person/company simply crossing plants with hybrids, even more bogus hybrid with hybrid doesn't mean you created a new unstable or stable plant. Without the proper documentation research to show, it is not legit. And this sense of entitlement, in which "breeders" "growers" are naming old plants as if they created a new type of plant in the genus or species is freaking ridiculous but their scam is actually working because people are actually buying "rare' "new" plants is seed and tissue without knowing if they're are consuming a frankenstein plant that can potentially be weak and prone to fungal and viral diseases.
