  • When we go away, how little or how much should we bring? I bring some things that would surprise you and leave some things home that are odd. What do you pack?

If you don't want to take a blanket, wear a large scarf that you can open up to use as a blanket.

I totally get why you need to take your own lotion, shampoo and conditioner etc. I’m allergic to a lot of things and I can’t take a chance. I get home, completely use up my travel toiletries containers up, wash and dry ready for the next trip.
I got a cashmere shawl/ scarf from Winners about 8 years ago. It is easy to wrap around my neck to wear on board but it squeezes down to shove in my purse if the plane is hot. It’s doubled as a light blanket in chilly hotels.

I will never check luggage when flying... it's too risky in my experience and just saves so much hassle.

I bring my own pillow. My neck gets kinked up if I sleep on the wrong pillow.

We did a trip to Europe in 2019. We packed majorly minimal. All 5 of us packed in just 2 suitcases for 6 weeks. No room for pillows in that one. We didn’t miss anything we didn’t pack. The hardest thing was that our first stop was hot and by the end our stop was really cold.

It’s hard when you need clothes for both hot and cold!! Sounds like a fantastic trip though!

My family of 6 always packs all of our old worn out socks and undies and toss them after wearing while away. Frees up packing space for on the way home.

Good idea! I've lost a few things on my last few trips, so that would feel less bad too!

I can use any or no pillow at all but my husband has a butterfly shaped pillow that keeps his neck in line (reduces snoring) that he takes everywhere. It's memory foam and rolls up small though so it usually get stuffed in my bag because his BJJ gi takes up a decent amount of space in his and leaving that home is a hard no.

The worst thing I've forgotten? My partner and I went out of state for a Mariah Carey concert. We're in the hotel room getting ready and she says, "You brought the tickets, right?" 🫨 Wow, did I ever feel like an idiot. Thankfully we were able to get a couple more tickets on the way to the show and they were actually better seats than we originally had. So all's well that ends well, and I have never forgotten anything major since then! 😅
