    Hey guys! Today I interviewed my friends who are in U of T STEM (Stats & Physics & Astrophysics) to tell you guys everything you need to know about UofT STEM. There are a lot of misconceptions about STEM at UofT and I hope this video was able to clear up some of those misconceptions!

    I don't know how I came across this but I'm glad I did. Great to see that not much has changed even years after I graduated from the math/physics program.
    Also, I'm still suffering from PTSD over how bad the chairs were in the MP lecture halls.

      You can get into cs in the second year really easily if you do well in the first year cs course. It’s competitive but it isn’t that hard.

    • @Karlleagueoflegends
      @Karlleagueoflegends 2 года назад +1

      First year no body is actually in the program. There are csc courses that are available to all arts and science students. There are usually a lot of spaces. If you just do well in those you can get into csc programs in the second year.

      @@Karlleagueoflegends I’ve emailed the faculty and their reply was saying that they don’t recommend this route to anyone. Tbh I don’t want to do the first year then get stuck in non cs programs, that would drive me crazy.

      I am planing to take it this fall , actually I am confused between 137 and 157 , could you please help me . Ps. I have taken AP calculus Bc

    • @Karlleagueoflegends
      @Karlleagueoflegends 2 года назад

      @@aryanjain8494 I don’t think AP calculus BC is going to prepare u enough. You need to get familiar with proofs by reading a intro to proof textbook in the summer. You won’t need to if you just want to do 137. 137 is way less work than 157( in my opinion 70% more less work). I think u of t also provides a free summer math camp for upcoming first year student which I think will help you a lot. Check the u of t website. Just be aware that the gap between 157 and ap calculus is very big.

    • @Karlleagueoflegends
      @Karlleagueoflegends 2 года назад

      @@aryanjain8494 also what I meant by reading an intro to proof book is that you need to become very familiar with the four types of proof technics before going to 157. Otherwise it’s not going to do much

    I really like physics and would probably get a masters later on. I got into the faulty of arts and science and engineering. Do you think that I should go for math&physics or eng?

    • @Karlleagueoflegends
      @Karlleagueoflegends 2 года назад +1

      I think you can try to contact the faculty for more informations. If you want to do further theory type of studies the math and physics courses available at art and science are really really good. They will 100% prepare you for any of the master study in physics or mathematics. I don’t know too much about engineering tho but I think they are focusing more on applications. While the one at art and science are focused more on proved. Check the math program page, there is a specialist called math and physics specialist. That one is an open enrollment but it’s really hard. That will prepare you really well for your graduate school studies for physics.

    • @Crusheded

      Eng is a lot of work but extremely structured and you'll be swimming in a huge pool of students. Physics is a lot smaller and you will have to keep up by yourself a bit more. Be sure you actually want to do physics first though.
