- The Alton Towers Scarefest line-up has been released aside from 2 more mazes and 1 more attraction set to be announced in due course.
With Alton Towers confirming as much on social media that Daz Games (or a similar version) will be back for Scarefest this year that leaves 2 scare mazes unaccounted for. One inside the Dungeons (next to Trick or Treat Town) that will most likely be kid friendly and the building behind Curse which has been rumoured to be a Curse at Alton Manor scare maze or a Phalanx themed scare maze.

Today has been a very copy and paste announcement for Scarefest BUT there's TWO brand new scare mazes and ONE brand new scare attraction still to be announced.

I was expecting maybe a 13 dark forest themed maze in the building where darkest depths was because in all the advertisements they’ve used 13, but I think it will be something in the dungeons and something in the curse building because the dark forest building isn’t even finished so how are they gonna fit a maze in there on time?!?
It's a strange building is that... doesn't look like much is going on in there whatsoever since it's gone up but we shall see....
completely understand what you are saying, i think that these 2 "brand new" attractions are going to decide whether or not this Scarefest is one to look forward to. I think it's ridiculous that we are paying for the same experiences every single year, with the newest addition last year essentially being a tent with flashing lights and fences. keeping fingers crossed because I used to look forward to this event every year and I really want the best and to feel that classic scarefest atmosphere I grew up with.
They have to be BIG announcements to distract from the copy and paste line-up
Marketing is very strange thing year, I’m not sure who ever the team is really understands Halloween.
2 new experiences is I’m guessing HEX and the Alton conversion
They won't add Hex as a new addition. It's a ride not an attraction or maze in terms of Scarfest. There will be two new mazes and 1 scare attraction to be announced
I doubt the scare maze next to where darkest depths will be ready for scarefest as they are still constructing in mid august
They always start around this time of year. Look at Thorpe they’ve just started constructing Stitches in the last couple of days. They get them up quickly and if it’s Daz Games going there… it’ll be ready within 10 days (if that) it’s basic as hell with the tech being the only complicated aspect of the experience

Not sure if this has been said already, but apparently none of the mazes will be in the towers this year. I was on the House and Gardens tour yesterday and was told this by a staff member. She said that they are trying to preserve them. This would explain the extra buildings. I know silly rumours tend to spread by someone saying ‘a ride op told me [insert absurd claim]’, but this was genuine. I remember seeing her on the nemesis tour too so I think she would be quite “in the know”.
There’s already construction happening inside Altonville and The Attic (allegedly) we were told the Towers couldn’t have mazes in them NEXT year so not sure which one is which now but there’s definitely stuff happening inside the Towers currently. Theres still Daz Games, the dungeons maze and a Phalanx themed maze (apparently) still to come
I don’t get what the hate is for the announcement, it’s pretty obvious Alton towers weren’t going to have enough money in their budget to create all new mazes and scare attractions alongside it for this year. They’re probably going to go down the route of Thorpe were they phase out the older mazes in 2021 and replace them each year with a new maze.
Really? This is the same park that said they were going BIG for Scarefest this year, completely revamped, new, bigger and better and has been the rhetoric all season long at numerous events. These next 3 announcements need to be cataclysmically big to live up on that promise
That’s what they always say though. It’s a company, alias one that is paranoid about budgeting all the time, they are obviously just going to say that to get the hype going.
@@pandough4938 Disagree, we were told at events that this year everything would be bigger and better, promised even with a GIANT focus on events. Pirate Takeover was improved, CBeebies Event was great for kids, Oktoberfest looks vastly improved from last year so I expect the same from Scarefest / Christmas - Fireworks being the exception as they always do an incredible job

I am quite happy woth this years lineup so I love Altonville Mine Tours Tiny's Revenge brilliant Scare Maze nicely themed. And the thing with The Attic: Terror of the Towers it feels weird to have a Scarefest event without Terror of the Towers I remember when What Lies Within was removed felt strange not to have a Terror of the Towers at the Scarefest event to being the og that started the Whole Halloween event at Towers

When you go to book the tickets it’s says 2 new scare attractions plus a new family friendly attraction. That would make 3 new attractions. 1 behind curse. 1 where the dungeons was and the 3rd either where darkest depths was or the day games location

I was thinking the same thing I'm going to give the attic and mine tours a miss this year but super excited about burial grounds I thought it was brilliant last year I hope that that massive building behind curse is curse scare maze!!? also I think that as you pointed out trick or treat with have a boat ride along the lines of horrible histories ??
There was something I spotted briefly not long ago that looked Mexican themed around that area, wasn't sure if it was for Trick Or Treat or whatever is going inside the Dungeon. A cool Halloweeny boat ride would be pretty great!
What if Trick or Treat town was moved to where darkest depths was, a new scare maze behind Curse, and Daz games where dungeons was. It will be Daz games, i'm pretty sure in an interview somewhere with Bianca she implied it was coming back due to how popular it was.
It's definitely coming back the social media team have all but confirmed it but it'll be a different version of it. Trick or Treat Town I doubt would be moved but whatever is next to it will be kid friendly I'm sure inside the Dungeons. Daz is a strange one as those containers where Darkest Depths are just haven't been touched... they genuinely look abandoned aha
I'm pretty sure that PANIC will be returning but bigger (but not advertised as "new"), that would make sense given there are two new attractions and one of those will be the Dungeons replacement.
X2 scare mazes and X1 attraction set to be announced and I agree they've said 'Watch This Space' so it'll just be Daz most likely but in a new location?
@@LiftHillsandThrills They said two new Scare attractions, so I think new maze and Dungeons replacement. So I think Panic is returning but revamped given there are four attractions on the scares ticket.

When i went on the gardens and towers tour they told me that this year be last year in towers for scaremazes as english heritage has said they want to have rid of anything inside towers

One likely hood is that 1 of the new attractions is a full on scare maze and the other is a family friendly horror attraction. One theory i have is they are moving trick or treat town and then combining that empty space with the old dungeons space for the family horror attraction. A creepy carnival a keen to a toned down carnival of screams might be a nice thing for the family horror attraction. Or maybe if we do get a emily alton maze, that might be the family scare option.
I think the Dungeons will be a seperate maze entirely but 100% agree with it being family friendly. You can't have an intense maze next to Trick or Treat Town aha they said the Dungeons would be revamped for a brand new attraction so its definitely not Trick or Treat Town extended

Attic returning no doubt due to budget... those shipping containers haven't been touched near Darkest Depths... hopefully we see some movement soon
I think the darkest depths one might be like a live action maze for next year open all year round and the other 2 spaces are mazes or doungens extends trick or treat town
At the moment the one by darkest depths looks abandoned. I wonder if Attic or Altonville weren't meant to come back but then something happened. Very peculiar, hopefully we see movement around that area soon

My suspicion is the-space-that-was-formally-dungeons wont be used this year. I wonder if its being cleared out for longer term plans given its proxemity to the proposed Horizon site.
I quite like the spooks and frights distinction. Plenty of people like Halloween but not frights and it feels very accomodating.
Two new *attractions* feels important phrasing too. Im not expecting two new mazes. Given it seems like theyve attempted to take on feedback, i wonder if there will be another scarezone - a spook level one.
I've personally seen things taken into there so I'm pretty confident in saying that space will be used for Scarefest and the park along with Bianca have also confirmed publicly that this space will be used for Scarefest. There will be two new mazes and one additional attraction (Most likely Daz Games)

this has to be the most confusing announcement ever. They say there will be 2 brand new scare attractions but if you look at the spooks + frights ticket you get 6 attractions. Also it does look like daz games is coming back in some form, as in one of the images of the combi ticket you can see the triangle symbol with some gothic looking monster guarding over it (from i remember from daz games there wasn't that type of monster in that attraction) but hey im all up for it if they theme it quite well (I really liked the concept of daz games but it lacked in theming). But we will have to wait and see.

On the Alton towers website were it let’s you book the spooks and frights combi tickets it says that it allows entry into the returning attractions aswell as three bullet points that say “Scare Attraction: More information coming soon” so does that mean there’s 3 new attractions??

Honestly it annoys me so much alton towers could make one of the best scare events of the year if they put effort in imagine a scare zone in front of the towers with lighting. they have so much space in areas with rides and areas in forest. They could really make it like HHN if they tried.

Don't know if this has been said but there are 3 attractions that have yet to be given details 1spook and 2frights so it my guess is one of them is panic another one is a new family attraction in dungeons and the third one is the curse at Alton manor maze

Im going to scarefest this year and i think im going on the first weekend its on and only on the saturday, what order should i do the rides and what scare mazes should i do?
That's completely up to you but if you do the mazes do them early, they're all indoors so they'll always be dark and there's far less queues than in the evening
@LiftHillsandThrills yes that was my plan to do the mazes early on in the day, leave rides like smiler and nemesis till the night timen
It's still overpriced. Imagine a family of 4 without passes. Admission + mazes = £400ish!? For me, Thorpe is currently miles ahead of all the other merlin parks in terms of pretty much everything.😂

Absolutely not… unless the two mazes and one extra attraction is mindblowing I’d still say it’s pretty mediocre. I was hoping for more scare zones to build on the very popular burial ground, the Dungeons incorporating the boat ride through a rethemed dark ride experience and then entirely new mazes not repeated line ups (which will change next year as they can’t have mazes in the Towers anymore apparently) and then spread the event across the park with roaming actors etc
I could see the dungon space going one of 2 ways.
I'm hoping for some really big Theatrical sets and a really strong story line if it is child friendly and it's as strong as the old house of Monsters then I would be happy with that.
But I can also see this space being used as a no lights on ride, with audio like we had for The Invitation and just a lot of dark space and sound.
If they are going to rebrand daz games panic and this is added to the line up then I would feel this is a bit of let down for scare feast especially when last year daz games was an upcharge upcharge, outside of the mazes.
So we would have lost darkest depths, the invation, and possibly gained a new kids attraction and rebrand of a upcharged attraction last year. 🙄
Praying for more scare zones, a new scare mazes, and like I said would be happy if it's a good kids spooky attraction but would also love a good scare attraction as well.
For sure.. I'd have loved them to incorporate the ride but I just don't think they'd stretch that far to reskin an entire Dungeon layout for a Scarefest event but who knows.. I would LOVE that though
I’m pretty sure the new building by the curse is actually the new home for one of the teams who have to move from there previous position on the project horizon site. They have to be moved by the end of this year for project horizon construction to start.
I heard this too but the original file name for that building proposition was 'ScareMaze' so I ASSUMED it would be that and then after Scarefest they'll move in?
So ngl I'm a bit surprised because I was thinking they need to do something radical. The other issue is that when you go on the website it still seems like you've got to pay for Burial Grounds. I will say I always had a feeling Daz Games would be moved to one of the marquee's set up but the problem is how can they say it is new when it literally was there last year?
The other thing is I actually thought they were going extremely ambitious this year. But the thing is unfortunately this feels a little bit like an "Emperor has no clothes" moment. Why have they scuppered potentially amazing spaces and also done that when people have been calling out for Alton Manor, 13 and Phalanx scare attractions.
Ngl I am very disappointed.
Burial Grounds is free, it’s a scare zone not an attraction or maze.
It really does depend on what they announce next as so far it’s the same old story…
@@LiftHillsandThrills Even then as mad as it sounds I look at it on face value and on the website there is nothing that indicates that Burial Grounds is free which is concerning because then people may be turned away because they think they have to pay for it. I've said this before they really ought to do a witches theme attraction in the dungeon (like an extremely dark one) and the other one should be CAAM based but the more I think of it the less I think it is going to happen and I think we will have a Daz Games attraction that will say it is "New for 2024" when really it isn't - it's just likely to have a new reskin.

Personally I do feel the teasers and build ups to the announcements is to long and alittle bit much but understand why Towers have made that decision as it gets fans excited for the season and event? I think this year's line is very edited to last year. With 2 new & old mazes, 1 Zone, 1 new & old maybe family attractions and the other stuff we all know. Personally on the positives it's great we're moving towards more new stuff. Altonville Mine Tours I'm not surprised it's back. The Attic I'm very. Overall Scarefest this year will be an interesting one? I reckon apart from the new mazes Nemesis Reborn in the dark will be the highlight of the event? Fright Night's announcement so far is very simular to last year but I hope Stitches & Trailers get new scenes? Plus the new maze? The rest will see?
Thorpe has at least mixed their line-up over the years whilst Towers stays stale. Bringing back Daz (likely) isn't great leaving just 2 mazes left one in the dungeon and one up by Curse (potentially) which could be a Phalanx maze or Emily Alton maze but as every enthusiast and their dog wants a Curse maze I'm sure they'd go for a Phalanx one just to piss us off

One day, Towers will take up my idea for the most terrifying scare attraction ever. It’s one PC in a room, and you have to be the only one duty social media manager after a day or no rides working at all …
Place it in a time period of this season and it’ll be their most terrified yet!
totally off topic but what do you think is happing to ice blast ? are they fixing it or are they taking it down?
I think it was 100% going, then it was staying, then it was staying with the Gyro going elsewhere and now... I haven't got a damn clue but knowing PBR they'll have a viking themed Gyro at the other end of the park and keep a rusty eye-sore Tower as the first thing people see when they look out of their brand new Pleasure Beach hotel window in a few years...
The two other Scare Mazes I hope one is themed to either the Alton Ancestors or Tied in with Curse could call it The Crypt. And the other is themed based around the Towers or at least inspired by what The Sactuary and Sub Spies was could fit in well
With them already saying Watch This Space when it comes to Daz Games, was Daz ever classed as a scare maze or was it an attraction? I can't remember

Underwhelmed. I reckon Daz Games “Don’t” panic will be one of the two “new” attractions. Cant help but think one of the three venues won’t be ready, hence only two to come. I’d hoped for more new, and I think this season needs a banger end especially, but adjusting expectation to “usual Merlin effort”…
On the ticketing system there’s one attraction and two more mazes on the way but the advert says 2 more on the way, confusing 🫤 aha

As much as Halloween events aren't my thing with house of monsters being the only maze I was/am willing to do, I have noticed every social media channel I watch have been begging for a complete overhall of the Scarefest lineup. Let's see what the announcements are
Even with 3 announcements coming up (with one likely to be something we've seen before as they've said only 2 are brand new) I can't see them blowing us all away with 2 extra mazes regardless of what they are... I'll try and be optimistic though

What makes you think both the new buildings are for scare attractions?
Merely from a video perspective it's just a logical storage space and the fact the files within the planning docs said scare maze but it seems the one where Darkest Depths was is just abandoned with no work taking place on it.. maybe a budget cut if we don't see any movement on it in the foreseeable. Also one of the buildings will need to house Horizon related depts at some point. I imagine the one behind curse will be the maze, the one by Darkest Depths will either be a Daz Games return or just abandoned and THEN Dungeons will be something

@@DJDistruxion I meant merely from me creating the video as opposed to the Towers one. The one behind curse is active there's people there every day in and out of the building whereas the one down by Darkest Depths has had zero movement just yet. With us being told that the Towers weren't going to house any mazes this year at one stage the fact one or both are back is a head scratcher, it makes me think that one was absolutely going (most likely Attic as its fully embedded into the Towers) but after a budget issue or similar affecting whatever is by Darkest Depths they decided to bring it back. Merely just looking at it from a business standpoint and the quite obvious copy and paste budget cuts that face Towers on a seasonal basis when it comes to these events.
Not been to scarefest for years, no draw at all for me given the cost and other attractions way cheaper round the country.
The independent events are miles better and more affordable
What if the area by darkest depths wasn’t finished so they are changing it for new to next year? As they started way later. Also the prices are insane, so overpriced. Over £400 for one day doing everything?

I feel just start of five year progress scarefest and with location second new location won’t this used this year and as I said likely five year progress
I'm intrigued to see what the second 'attraction' will be unless they're classing Daz Games as an 'attraction' I can't remember if they did that last year
So if you’re not a pass holder it’s £99 per person if you want to do everything which includes you admission. And then hotels for one night cost £325 per night. So for a family of 4 that’s £721 before you’ve already had a beer 🙈
Brutal that is. Lucky I have a pass and don’t have kids that’s for sure! Always stay over for scarefest weekend and the savings alone for that one weekend pay for my pass.
I reckon that the dungeons is separate to the 2 ‘new attractions’ so therefore that will be another on the day upcharge. I hope it’s targeted at an adult audience too.
Hope daz games doesn’t come back in way shape or form but whatever they do they need to deliver as this event is getting more expensive each year and we’re getting a repeat of very old mazes! Certainly going to be an interesting one!

I could speculate all day but at the end of the day I’ve lost interest in Scarefest. Never really like Halloween events but always made an exception for Alton towers. But old returning attractions combined with possible fright nights style mazes, I honestly don’t care anymore. I’ll see what happens & maybe return to the event 2025

@@_Bova_ I didn't really discuss it in too much detail but I absolutely believe that if Trick or Treat Town is in that location the Dungeons attraction will 100% be kid friendly too right next door. As far as the other two go, Daz games will return as the social media team have said as much and the last maze behind Curse will be Emily Alton / Phalanx themed. I can't see it being anything else given the location and the fact both Emily Alton (tombstone) and Phalanx were both teased in the marketing

@LiftHillsandThrills we are trying to get the 12th of October on my birthday with fiona's boys pain in the arse booking a hotel in alton towers doesn't automatically give you tickets to the park because only me and fiona have merlin passes so we need to get tickets for the boys
One to miss. Disappointing.
