My first trip out in the 2021 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited (JLU) Rubicon and overnight camp.
Esme and I had a great time and have lots of changes to make to the Jeep to get it ready for longer trips!
In this video I'm also wearing lots of Helikon-Tex gear!!

Its funny how our needs and comfort requirements change as we get older. I use to be a backpacker when I was younger. I also had a pickup truck to haul my dirt bike. Then I had a knee injury. I got an SUV type vehicle and that was much more practical for me. I love camping out of the FJ now. I can set up the tent and use the truck as my kitchen and storage or sleep right inside the FJ which is super cozy. I love being able to bring all the extras with me. Lets face it.. The older I get the more I need it seems, even though I bring very little with me. I love the green on the Jeep. I love that you are changing things up. Excited for your new adventures in new areas and new way of doing things. Very Happy for you Michael. Cheers my dear friend. Its nice having the truck all set up. I get to camp and I can camp. no set up and no break down. And being a single woman sometimes i feel safer in the truck. Reflectix in the windows helps with warmth and privacy. ooooh im so excited for you. You are now what I like to call ....Jeeple! The Rubicon is a beast.
Jeeple!!! 😄 I love it! I totally agree with all your points - and as long as I can get to the beautiful locations I've grown to love - I'll be a happy man! 😊 Reading about your FJ experience also pushed me towards the jeep - so you are partly to blame/thank 😉 - Thanks so much for all the support ❤️
@@TheEmporiumOutdoors Awww thats awesome to know. Im just in love with my FJ as you know. Its the perfect vehicle for me. Its my home away from home. I am not a "jeeple" but I do love the Rubicon. If for some sad reason I have to replace my FJ one day im going with the 4runner or possibly a new 4 door bronco. But thats years from now. Does that top come off of your Jeep?
@@TheEmporiumOutdoors Now I can give you some pointers since this is my thing. Such as screens for the window, tables etc. Let me know if you need any advice
Have a 1988 jeep and a 2012 jeep. My 2012 is still going strong at 200,000 miles. Love it!
Nice!! I'd like to get an old Jeep to to play around with 👍
Welcome to the Jeep life. I’ve loved every Jeep I’ve ever owned and I’m sure you and Esme will as well. Happy trails
Right on! 👍
Hi Michael and Esme. While I will miss the UTV I love the idea of the Jeep. I think you guys will have a lot of fun with it. Can’t wait to see more.
I'll miss the UTV too but I think this will get me out more often and be very capable of exploring the wilderness. Fingers crossed! 🤞
Congratulations on your new jeep Michael. Hello everyone how’s everyone doing? Thankyou for the new video Michael. Can’t wait to see new camping adventures with your new jeep. Y’all all take care and be safe Michael. Please give esme and Simon a treat. We love watching your channel Michael and we will always be a subscriber and a huge fan of you and esme and Simon. Thankyou for everything you do and all the hard work you put into making new videos.
Thanks so much David! really appreciate your comments! 👍
I’ve never been into pulling a trailer, I prefer making the drive as simple as possible. I like that you have the option of either sleeping in the Jeep, or setting up a tent, that’s the way to go.
Pulling a trailer get old fast!! The F150 Ecoboost was great but with a trailer and headwind it drank fuel!!
Great choice for your new ride. I will continue to watch videos because it is you not your stuff that makes the Chanel worth watching. I like how you explain everything and seeing how much you love your dogs. It might be nice to see some of your friends and family in your videos if you ever consider doing that as well. Anyway I am looking forward to seeing your new direction and ideas thanks for the entertainment.
I appreciate that Stephen!
Thanks for posting Michael. That is a very nice Jeep. I like the color and I think Esme likes it too. The Porcupine Hills look beautiful. I can't wait to see more adventures in the Jeep. Best Regards
Thanks Kevin - I love the colour too! 👍
I liked all of your vehicles Michael, from the pioneer 500 to the argo to the can-am and now your Jeep. I have owned a pioneer 500 and now own a pioneer 520 and a Jeep wrangler limited rubicon. I like your videos and will continue watching. One more thing. This is my second jeep and I love it. It's perfect for my lifestyle. Many people around here in western New York are buying big side by sides ( 1000 cc ) and are riding them only on gravel roads. They never take them on trails through the woods. I told them I have a jeep rubicon for that and I have more luxuries than they do. So I use the Jeep on gravel and seasonal roads and use the Pioneer 520 as a woods machine. To me, that is the perfect set-up.
.
That's a great setup you have - best of both worlds!! For me a Jeep and a Skidoo would work. For 4 months I can get deep into the forest/mountains for winter and 8 months the Jeep will get me close to where I need to be 👍 I loved my time living in NY (Columbia County) and miss the landscape 👍
I like to see the challenge of getting to nice camp spots. Personally, I would rather see an old Jeep with modification to make it more functional. I like your presentation and attitude and enjoy your knowledge of preparedness. I will stay subscribed and look forward to you future videos.
Thanks for the support Nathan! 👍
I’ll miss the Can Am but your the reason I watch . A change is nice .
Thanks Larry 👍
Luv the jeep ! You always have great videos and I will always enjoy your videos !! Thanks for being the Good in this world !!! 🐶❤👍👍😎
I appreciate that Tyler!
Since I own a side by side UTV I always enjoyed your trail rides and camping. I also own a 2020 Jeep Wrangler Willys Unlimited so I'm very much looking forward to your new adventures. Keep moving forward!
Thanks Wayne - Its interesting as I see lots of crossover from the UTV to the Jeep. I have some ideas I'd like to try on the Jeep from what I've learned with UTV camping 😉
great color on the jeep, looks great. looking forward to more jeep videos
Thanks David! 👍
Looks like a step towards over landing and that is hugely popular. I’m in!
Awesome!! Thanks Mustang!
I enjoy all of your content. Ultimately though you should always do what you love to do. Thanks for sharing. Take care and stay safe.
Thanks, you too!
Congratulations on the Jeep! You won't be disappointed and keep the videos coming :)
Thanks! Will do! 😉
Good for you. Change is good. Looking forward to your next adventures. Take care and stay safe, Al
Thanks Al!! 👍
Love the countryside, reminds me of where I was born and raised in Salmon ,Idaho.
Thanks Gary!
Well done on your first Jeep. I love mine, faults and all.
Indeed 😄 They have their quirks!
always exciting trying out something new
Loving the Jeep so far!! I think I made the right choice 😄
Sounds like a splendid idea. Can’t wait to see your new adventures.
Awesome! Thank you! 👍
Michael , good video , I really like the Jeep and the color is very nice , thanks for sharing , God bless !
Thanks, you too Michael! 👍
Great idea to introduce the overlanding concept. I'm looking forward to seeing the next few videos. Best of luck with the new rig! 👍
Thanks, you too!
I like the Overlanding thought. I've had to go to overland in my older pick-up. I love my 2001 F-150 reg cab 4x4. It's simple but reliable. I will definitely keep watching and the wife will as long as Esme is with you!
Thanks Lee! I'll miss my old F-150! It was a great truck! Esme and I thank you and your wife for watching 👍
Looking forward to more Jeep adventures! Great video!
More to come! Thanks Jerry!
Congrats on the Jeep ! she's a good looking rig !
Thanks buddy!! Hope the camping is going well this year! I've been keeping up with your channel 👍
✌️I can't wait to see more Jeep adventures.. I love my Jeep ..✌️
You and me both!
I'm a fan of you changing up the channel. Welcome to the jeep world. You can do a bunch with the interior, such as remove part of the rear seat and platform it. Goose Gear has a great system. You'll need a winch plate inside the stock rubi bumper. Warn makes one. The biggest downfall is the electrical system. In the future look into the dual battery system. At least learn the emergency jumper to get you out of trouble. The "M" side of the shifter turns off the nannys when you get in real offroad conditions. The leather is pretty weak. Look into some ballistic covers for the front. Those tires love 20psi offroad on the JLUR.
Thanks for all the great tip!!! I ordered the Warn VR10S with the Warn plate for the stock steel bumpers. Should arrive today! I'll learning so much already about all the great add-ons available 😄

Glad you like them Marion 😊!
nearest thing to your Jeep I have owned was a land rover Defender 90, used to go up the hills in Scotland get my stove out boil some water for coffee and sandwiches and enjoy the views. but everybody wanted it and had an offer I could not refuse, but I will sure watch your adventures with your new Jeep and enjoy them good camping.
The old Defender 90s are awesome!! I bet that was great having a setup like that in the Scottish hills 👍
Your jeep is a great outdoors adventer . The 4 door is nice .iam looking in a 2 door to fit for camping? I like the green o d also.. keep on jeep camping. Arth
Go for it! 2 doors are better off-road too! 👍
Nice Jeep!!! It's all you need, combining the truck, Can am and a tent all in one!!! Def keep watching- just don't thrash it too bad on the trails.
Thanks 😄 I hope to keep the damage down to a minimum 😆
Looking forward to see how you outfit your jeep, and see were you go. Very cool
You and me both!
You’ll be happy with the Jeep. I bought my first one in January and I have no regrets. Extremely capable and lots of fun. Oh yeah, I should’ve said it’s easy to get lost down the rabbit hole. I did. Winch, recovery gear, wheels, tires, lift, lighting, communications, and all the accessories to make it naked and fun in the summer. However, it is awesome stock and you certainly don’t have to spend anymore to enjoy it.
Awesome!!! I know what you mean about the upgrades 😫 I have my list growing every day now 😄
i have been watching for a few years now. not many channels have i gone back through and watched older videos but some of the argo and teton tent camps in the dead of winter are some of my favorite videos i have found on youtube. i have taken your reviews and advise and currently use them in my camping travels. your jeep and overlanding adventures will also be another chapter i look forward to. Good luck and Have fun
Thanks Aaron - I really appreciate that comment and it makes all the hard work of making videos worthwhile! Merry Christmas! 🎄
@@TheEmporiumOutdoors Merry Christmas to you as well.
as for myself, i enjoy watching your channel just to see you out, doing the whole gathering wood, setting up and the scenery you have there! i winter camp as well but life gets in the way too much, so if i can't be out, glad i got others to watch as they go! be well, stay safe!
I appreciate that!
Love the look of a Jeep. Years ago the consumer reports were so good on them but I think they have really improved over the years. I love a quick setup and tear down, especially if it is a shorter trip. :) It is all about the camping and when I can't get out myself, enjoy watching folks like you and their dogs get out, no matter how you do it! Thanks for sharing. :) :)
Thanks so much 😊 Its working well so far! 👍
The main thing to maintain longevity is to do (and film) what interests you. That sort of interest and enthusiasm is what makes content compelling in most cases. I think of the times I’ve watched people unblock a drain or review a pen just because they were excited by what they were doing. You owe us nothing, do what you love, and that’ll shine through.
That's so true!! There is nothing like watching a skilled person perform something, no matter how mundane as long as they are passionate about it 👍 I watch those videos too 😄
Can’t wait to see more great vids. Thumbs up!
Thanks so much!
I really like the new Jeep 👍😊 change is good and if you don’t try new things you’ll never know if you like the different aspects of getting outdoors 🏕🎣🦝🐻🦌☃️
Indeed 👍
Hi Michael and Esme, very nice video and the country scenes are beautiful. That's a really nice jeep. I guess you can call me old fashion but, I enjoyed the trips with the Can Am and the trouble you got into, it was fun watching you get out of trouble. I'm not a big fan of car camping, it's just not my thing but, then again I'm not everybody. Myself, I would never buy a new vehicle because of the electronics. I enjoy my 1989 Ford F150 4x4 XLT Lariat which I bought new. I hope you will still do some tent camping, that's what I like about your channel as well as Esme and Simon. I will continue to watch you guys enjoy the outdoors. Happy Thanks giving to you and family.
Thanks John!! I'm hoping to combine all the best parts of what I enjoy in the Jeep videos. I'll still be doing tent and hammock camps. I'm also "trying" to buy a snowmobile so I can get into the true winter back country in the mountains but that seems impossible with the lack of products for sale. I'll maybe do it for next year now. Happy thanks giving to you and yours too 👍
I'm a fan of the channel and don't really mind what type of vehicles you've had. Thay are all great! Congratulations and keep up the great work!!
Thanks Dan 👍
you may have left the UK but we will never leave you ! happy safe adventures and we look forward to seeing how you adjust to your jeeps abilities !
Thanks Brian!! I appreciate it 🇬🇧🇨🇦😊
Congrats on the JEEP!! You gotta do what works for you!!! I will keep watching!!!!😊👍😊
Thanks so much Teresa!
Interesting new direction and congratulations on the move to Southern Alberta. Always look forward to and enjoy your videos and camping outings with Esme and Simon when he tags along on some, too. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks so much Neil!
Congratulations on the new Jeep. Check out bulletpoint mounts for your camera and phone. That’s what I use for my gladiator. They are solid and cut down the vibration a lot
Thanks Rich - I've been looking for something solid to mount my gear to! 👍
Hi there Michael and Esme, awesome video guys and congrats on the Jeep 👌 looks very cool and you guys are going to have heaps of fun in the new purchase 🚜 can't wait for the next video, it's always a pleasure watching your videos until next time take care 👍👌✌🐺🐾
Thanks so much Herbert! 👍
Looking forward to seeing what you do with the Jeep, I will miss the can am videos, really enjoyed them, I do understand not wanting to leave your truck and trailer in a staging area, I also would be nervous about what might happen while away…
Thanks Ben 👍
Michael, good choice. I am on my third Jeep now. Next upgrade for me is a gladiator rubi. I’d add a 2 inch lift and the thirty-fives, a roof rack with a shovel and high lift Jack, fold out steps on the door hinges to access the roof, and a fording kit. Later add a small overland trailer for the gear, then just add food and the pups and takes off whenever. Only thing is I kept my truck too for hauling stuff. An older beater pickup may be needed in the future just to maintain the homestead. You stuffed Esme all back of the bus, are those seats heated too or is daddy being cruel to animals again?🧐
That's awesome to know!!! I did look at the Gladiator but I think they suffer in the trails due to the size 🤔 But they are a great option! You listed almost everything I'm planning on doing 😄 Esme prefers the back....She now refers to me as the chauffeur...😐
Awesome video and congratulations on the new jeep and the change ups. Looking good all way round! Speaking of which, your looking really fit these days. As always, cheers 🍻, take care and stay frosty.
Thanks! 👍 You are too kind 😄
Good call on the heated seats over the collision stuff, my Taco has all the blind spot monitors and adaptive radar etc etc and it tends to interfere with some of the mods I would like to do…. And it stops working if it’s snowing 🙄
Now you’ll have to figure out a good organizing system for all your gear…. And get a rack to mount a RTT and awning to… ahhhhh it never ends
I really wanted lane assistance but Wranglers don't even have that option!! - My wife's CRV has all the safety stuff too and it also stops in the snow 🤦🏻♂️😄 - I'm trying to keep the Jeep somewhat stock looking so it doesn't attract too much attention. I'm thinking of the Ursa Minor camper roof - as this is almost unnoticeable once its on 👍 After the winch, I think suspension (molar 2" lift) and wheels (35") might be the way forward!
@@TheEmporiumOutdoors
Lol…. Say goodbye to the good handling if you go to 35” tires, it’s not terrible but it’s noticeable on the road, I put 285/75-17’s on my JKUR when it was only a month old and we ended up dropping back to a 32”x10.5” last fall and I was told by the missus who drives it daily that I’m not to put bigger rubber back on it, it’s quieter and handles better now…
The nice part of adding a rack is you can mount an awning and a solar shower like the Yakima road shower plus an overland shower stall to the rack and you are completely self contained for long trips….
Speaking of wich, you coming to the Arctic with me in August next year? It’s only several thousand km’s one way…. 😁
@@PuskwaskaOutdoors Ohh interesting!!!! 🤔 I know there is a trade off but I want something balanced on and off the road. Awning would be a big plus!!!! Arctic sounds like a nice trip that time of year 😄
I was first introduced to your channel when you posted a link over at Honda sxs club. I enjoyed the videos, and you have a good feel for taking viewers "there". One thing I enjoyed was the SxS camping aspect of it, which not too many people do. I love jeeps, but there are thousands of people doing the whole camp/overlanding thing with them (and I subscribe to several). The SxS aspect of your channel is something I will certainly miss.
I totally agree. My winter camping will hopefully include a snow mobile soon 😀 I might also buy a small quad too 👍 The Jeep is great but there are places I want to go that the Jeep can’t.
I must say, I'm a fan of the adventures you had in the CanAm, great little rig. Excited to see what you opt to do to/with the Jeep (Just Empty Every Pocket). There's SO much aftermarket support for this platform. Great little getaway trip. Congrats on the new rig.
Awesome, thank you!
Welcome to the Jeep life OllllllllllO👍
Thanks so much!
Love the Jeep, Green all the way! Next bit of gear needs to be a winch if I know anything about the way you like to trail ride!
Should be arriving today 😄
Thanks for the video. Always enjoyable. My wife and I are new subscribers and really look forward to your videos with Esme and Simon!
Welcome aboard! 👍
Great looking jeep
Thanks 👍
Great video my friend, awesome color on your new ride. I hear there hard on fuel. I've always wanted one.
Thanks! 👍 The new JL models are better. I have the 2.0l turbo and I'm getting 9l/100 highway = 26mpg. With my truck with trailer I was getting 16l/100 = 14mpg (drag and prevailing wind into the mountains 😐). So its pretty close to my wife's CRV 8l/100 = 30mpg.
They make a custom mattress for the Jeep very comfortable- pitman outdoor- airbedzs worth every penny
Thanks - Ill check that out!
Great video. First time I've seen your content. Excellent work. I'm out of Calgary with a '21 JLUR as well Grey Metallic.
Awesome! I might see you on the trails this summer 😉
WOW what a surprise!! I totally respect and agree with the move you made with the vehicules. One vehicule capable of taking you and your fury friends directly from home to final destination is a logical decision. Last time I sugested that you buy the Canam Commander long bed and put a cab on it to camp in. Looks like you took it a step further !!! with alot more comfort !! And yes I'l keep watching your videos with alot of interest. Take care mon ami!!
Hahaha - I know right!! Its a Can Am Defender Long wheel base I can drive on the road 😄 Best wishes to you and the family!
Love the new ride!!
Thanks Linda! 😊
@@TheEmporiumOutdoors Do you have a ramp for Esme or do you have to lift her into the back when you're camped?
@@lindafromidaho2932 For now she can jump up - she pretty agile for a short dog 😄 But a ramp might be on the cards in a few years - great idea!
I love my Jeep! Great vehicle choice! ;)
Thanks!! 👍
Don’t sell the Can-am, I love those videos. I always look forward to you and the puppies going out and about.
Well - I still have it so far 😄 But I think the change won't be a drastic as you fear 👍 Lots more camping I'm hoping this winter!
Sweet! My wife and I bought a 2018 rubicon and we love it. It goes everywhere we point it. We ordered an Ursa Minor top for it in June and we are excited for it to arrive soon. Have fun!
Awesome!! I'm hoping to go with the same top!! Let me know how you like it 👍 I didn't know there was a waiting list 😐

Keep up the good work mate and I am looking forward to this next step on your journey.
I appreciate that Steve 👍
The jeep looks great 👍!!
Happy Thanksgiving!!
Thanks! You too!
Nice ride! I’ve always wanted a Jeep. Endless modifications. Sure makes for a quick and ez camping setup. Makes me want to buy a tall canopy for my truck. Safari top (think that’s what it’s called)seems like something you’d like. Instant Shade plus it’s a storage compartment while folded up on the roof. almost wish I bought a used 2 door Jeep instead of my p 500. my f150 is DEFINITELY not set up to off-road. Road cruiser
Love the channel, one of my favorites. relaxing to watch and gives me ideas for my camping trips. P500,Pomoly yarn plus, and titanium stove for me at the moment. And my Trusty dog.
I can only see the content getting better. the jeep will make for some awesome footage, buying accessories and showing them off will be a fun part of the videos. Plus jeeeps are just so damn cool. And comfort of course.
Thanks Todd!! In a perfect world I would have both a UTV, truck and Jeep - but I'm trying to make things simple for my trips. I loved my little P500 - It got me to come very interesting places! 😄 Canopy on a truck was my second option but I just don't think a F150 can compete with a Jeep for the back country roads/trails 👍 Sounds like you have a great setup too! 😉
My brother overlands in the western US. He loves it. My spouse and went from a class A motorhome to ATVs and a tent. Lol back to basics I guess. Have you ever considered becoming H.A.M radio certified? Loads of fun talking across the continent and such a great small community
Very cool! Variety is the spice of life!! 😉 I'm looking into HAM radios and they look very ingesting! I'll keep you posted 👍
I be lying if I didn’t say I was looking forward to you maybe getting a new Can Am but I also like watching overland videos as well and look forward to seeing your and Esme’s new adventures. I am wondering how many like minded Albertans with SxS’s like try and meet up in the future and hit the trails together? Often it can be difficult to find friends or family members with the same type of toys and a same yearn for adventures. Looking forward to your next video.
Hi Dean, I'll miss the Can Am for sure but the Jeep is as close to an "on road" Defender I can buy 😄. I'm a bit of a loner when I comes to wilderness trips but you might find something on Facebook groups. But maybe next year I could organize something for UTV/ATV and 4x4 people. Something like a Ruby Falls trip would allow everyone to ride/drive for an overnight trip 🤔 Something to ponder.
Congrats on the purchase. Watch a lot of Jeep over landing videos, and you have a ton of options on how to modify that rig. Ursa minor topper replacement, RTT, goose gear plate system.
Could be an expensive investment ;)
Hahaha - I'm find that out!! I'm leaning towards the Ursa Minor option if I'm honest. I'm not sold on the roof top option. I'd also consider a off road trailer 😉
@@TheEmporiumOutdoors could check out Ventrure4wd as a channel… Chris has lived in a Jeep for multiple years… has the Ursa Minor. Good to see what everyone else is using already.

Hi Michael...Always good to watch your videos which ever way you go with them :-) Are you going to set up a roof rack tent system ??...Hope you and Esme are all good and your looking forward to the start of the snow season :-)
Not sure yet about the roof tent 🤔 I think they can be a pain to drive around with. I've been looking at the Ursa Minor - which is a replacement roof with a tent all in one 👍
Congrats on the new Jeep! I think you made a smart choice and the change to the channel will only make it better. I mean just think of all the possibilities... rooftop tent, overland trailer and all the kit that goes along with it. I bet it takes you back to being out on exercise.
That's the plan! 😄 Happy days camping with my mates in a muddy field - lol 😉
It's great to see a new video from you! Congrats on the new Jeep. I know a number of people with the newer Jeeps. Back at the beginning of the pandemic, I looked at getting one, but ended up with an older Subaru, a 2012 Forester, as it was fairly cheap, and I didn't think I was going to be able to get out to do much exploring with a Jeep...and as things progressed, I was correct, with camping in parks and even crown land being shut down here in Ontario. A Forester gets me around, and if I don't get too ambitious, will allow me to do some offroading.
Have fun with your new Jeep!!
Thanks Farrell - I almost bought a Forester when I moved to the US from England. They are a great "do most things" vehicle and great for camping! It was so weird they stopped people in ON from camping in crown land - It was properly the safest place 🤔
@@TheEmporiumOutdoors The provincial government here has not been very consistent or logical in their response to our modern plague. 😞 Camping *would* have been much safer than bouncing around a city back then. Take care.
Nice Jeep ! 😊❤👍
Thank you! 👍
Hope it works out for you Michael and Esma
Thanks Jean! 👍
love it ,congrats
Thanks so much! 👍
Congratulations on the Jeep! Needs change and it's good to realize when they do, I don't think it will hurt the channel in any way either, this is such a chill, nice and informative place and I'd wager that's what people come for. Besides, the Jeep will bring in more people than a Can-Am, Jeep folks REALY like Jeeps :D
Lol - Very true! Jeep people are a loyal bunch 😄
I love your Can Am Defender, it's interesting (In Spain I have never seen a vehicle like yours, It looks like an electric vehicle) and cute...it's as cute as your dogs. They were the main reason why I watched your video weeks ago. However, I think that your decision is valid, I respect your decision, I will keep watching your videos. ♥️

Nice rig Michael so you will be doing more of a overlanding video know ? I bought my first brand new f250 4x4 in 88 took it hunting once came home went and bought a used quad to go in the back cause no way was i taking that truck back out hunting lol , for me i like the exploring and hunting on the quad even if im slow and i dont care if i scratch it haha . But that is a nice rig you got hope everything works out for you with the channel
Hi Steve & Frankie - Yup did the same thing in my first new F150!! Never again! I got mud in places I couldn't imagine! I hoped to get a snowmobile for winter camping but it's been impossible this year with the shortages. I wouldn't say no to a quad/argo in the future either. The Jeep is the start of something new but not the whole story 😉
Lovely machine mate! I had a LandRover Discovery with the same colour scheme. I miss the fun I had in her, but not the repair and parts costs! Of course I’ll stick around! I enjoyed the idea of hot tent camp, but this is certainly safer and easier. Good on you!
Now consider a shortwave radio (2m) setup ! We can chat ;)
Hey Richard!!! The old "Disco" - very cool 😎 - If I use the Jeep a lot I'll probably flip them every 3-5 years before I get into maintenance, well that's the plan. I'll still be doing all the hot tenting and probably more hiking too. Although I will miss the Can Am - I think the content will go more towards the outdoors generally 👍 Radio you say....🤔
Wait a minute when did this happen??! No more defender?? Heck it’s cool with me! Always been a Jeep man an family here! I’ve changed up to. Got a Yamaha Viking now
We changed over a few weeks ago 😄 The Viking is a great UTV - My friend has one and they are solid!
I loved watching you explore and camp in remote areas where not many people would think to camp. And while bringing along man's best friends too!
I'm not sure in what direction this is more challenging for you unless you want to set up camp in under 30 seconds, while maintaining a resting heart rate?
Like I mean...guess a car can take you to some remote interesting places. That natural ring rock formation you "set up camp" by looked more like a huge fire pit, but what do I know.
I would agree with you, it has increased your confidence. That I can see.
Who knew it would only take +60K, to obtain it. I just don't know how you were able to get by without all the options. Adaptive cruise is a must.
I guess this is a jeep channel now.
Better for me to get out now before you challenge yourself more and get a camper trailer and camp in remote spots for 40 bucks a night, with free WiFi.
Just one guys passive aggressive, sarcastic option, so don't pay attention. I never do.
Your Redcamp stove recommendation was highly appreciated. My favorite piece of kit on my ATV, and for that I truly thank you.
Well off to scour YT for another channel to watch.
Hey Dan - That's for taking the time to leave a valued comment. I do read and respond to everyone that takes the time. I know the Jeep is a change but I think its going to allow me more time to do some more in-depth camping videos and not the travel, setup, cook, sleep stuff. I'm not turning into a Jeep channel or a car camping channel. In my defence, I don't suffer from a lack of confidence and need a Jeep - Its just that its the closest "on road" version of the Can Am I could find 😄. I'd perhaps wait and see what happens on the channel before departing - but I respect you decision either way! Best wishes Michael & Esme 👍
I like it! How and where did Esme sleep? Did she help keep you warm? Will you use the Buddy Heater once it gets colder?
Hi David, Esme slept in the bottom of the sleeping bag with the side zipped fully open the first night. Second night she slept on top of the sleeping bag and I covered her with my Helikon-Tex Swag Man Roll. I have considered the buddy heater but I need to think through how that would exactly work as I don't want the propane tank inside. 🤔 But a great idea!
@@TheEmporiumOutdoors Sounds good. I have it in my mind that I'd like to the same kind of camping. I may take one of my 3 dogs, as well. I have a 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan, and with the back seats folded down and the second seat removed; there should be plenty of room for a cot or sleeping pad...
We're all failed at one time or other, just keep going forward mate.can you show a bit more hunting and fishing. TAKE Care and be safe from western Australia
Thanks John - Sure thing - I'll include hunting and fishing more 👍
I like your new jeep, check out Geordie Jimny camper to see what you can do with a smaller vehicle you should be able to live like a king in that :-) I like the side by side content but this looks interesting. Good luck.
I will check it out - Thanks Dean!!
Great video and vehicle. Now you got me scratching my head on that trick.. how are you able to move the camera around in the cab while driving and out the window without seeing the selfie stick?
Thanks Elwin - The camera is an Insta360 One X2 and produces 360 degree videos. I can move the way the camera points after its shot with an application. Now you know 😄
@@TheEmporiumOutdoors tks, it looked cool. I have a 360° camera but only used it once or twice and wasn't fussy of it. Now I'll have to dust it off to try it..
A couple of episodes ago I was watching you unload the ATV from the trailer and setting up for a trail ride. I thought to myself that if this guy had a Jeep he could take all his gear with him with no wasted time loading and unloading. I figured you had a system that worked for you so who am I to judge. Fast forward to today and here you sit in your Rubicon. I hope it all works out for you because I would feel foolish if it doesn’t.
Hahaha - Great minds think alike! The change of location really tipped the scales for me 👍
Don't own a Jeep, but about 50 years ago in Venezuela I rode a CJ-5 down a 200 meter cliff and survived. Hows that for a segway? The new Jeep looks interesting, and roomy, though I am probably not so keen on all the modern bells and whistles techie stuff. Kind of partial to the old bare bones first generation SWB two door Range Rovers. I know your focus tends to be on the gear you use, but I hope you don't miss the opportunity to show and tell us a bit about the new areas you are exploring too. For us not from there that aspect has some appeal.
Wow 200m 😲 I bet you had to change your trousers after that!!!! Old range rovers are very cool!! The new ones have gone too high end now to actually use them in any real off road situation. I'll be sure to show all the best parts of my location too 👍
