Scissor over comb is the most stupid skill in barber school. Just hit it with a guard and make sure it’s in an upward straight motion so the side will look square and not round. Also. You can pretty much free hand by using your finger as a guard. Although this is a hard skill to master. There are other circumstances where scissor over comb shines. Ex. If the head has many curvature or depth, using scissor over comb is better. However you can pretty much do razor over comb which is similar but faster.
Scissor over comb is very hard skill, clipper and trimmer is easy
