1:30 Craig Button on McDavid : "There's only two players that ever scored 40 or more points in the playoffs [Gretzky and Lemieux]. McDavid is in rarified air and what we're watching him do in this Stanley Cup Final with his team down 3 games to nothing is unprecedented. Gretzky and Lemieux did not have to drag their teams back from 3-0 down to push a team into a great amount of fear, that's where the Panthers find themselves right now. "
Quite simple when the best hockey player in the World takes his game to another level, he makes the players on the other team look average, what stands out is besides the empty net goal the Oiler's have scored 12 goals on a goalie that before the finals was pretty much a wall if your Florida that's a concern , but there is still game 6 to be won , I'm a Leaf fan but I am pulling for the Oilers to bring the Cup to Canada, if the Oiler's win McDavid should get the the Order of Canada, let's not get ahead of ourselves there is still game 6 to be won , I am sure that Maurice will be studying the tapes figuring out how to stop McDavid , I wish them luck on that !
Epic performance from McDavid, and now Rogers Place is probably going to cause some serious hearing loss for an awful lot of people attending Game 6 on Friday night in Edmonton. The momentum of the series has definitely shifted, and Bobrovsky has to deliver a massive personal performance between the pipes next game in a very hostile building to swing it back in favour of the Panthers. Predicting here that Game 6 will probably feature tighter checking and need OT to be decided.
If they storm back and win the Cup, his performance becomes legendary. If they lose, then his performance just becomes an answer to the trivia question "name the Conn Smythe winners from a losing team."
...and it's because they just need it more, Canada just needs it more. And isn't it maybe perfect that with a drought of 31 years it would take a comeback 4 straight in the finals to do it!!! Let's goooo boys!!!!!!!!!
If the Oilers manage to win it in 7, and if McDavid breaks Gretzky's point record, he's officially the best player of all time. Not even Gretzky managed to drag his team back from a 3-0 down situation.
I agree he will pass Mario and probably be second best after Gretzky. Mario had the size and power and could blow by anyone he wanted to with sheer strength and power, McDavid is way more skilled and faster.
Yeah, Skinner is almost certainly going to be repping team Canada in international competition going forward, for better or for worse. So we better get used to him 😂
@BobsUruncle-dl7cs Well nobody is putting that on him right now. I was just musing, thinking about the Canadian olympic/ international team and the gaping hole that they have in net 😂
McDavid is more skilled than Lemiux and Gretzky combined. They weren't doing shit like that on the ice especially in NHL Playoffs finals where the game is so tight.
Gretzky got his 47 points in just 18 games so yes, he was doing stuff like that. He was dominant out there, so far above his peers. McDavid is doing the same.
@@thebigpicture2032 Gretzky played when you could score by shooting along the ice from the halfwall on the rush. He didn't have to dangle through a crowd of 3-4 elite defenders just to have a chance to score
@@thebigpicture2032 yea because he was great. there is no denying it. i'm just thinking if mcdavid could replicate what gretzky did if mcdavid was thrown back in time into his era.
There's an argument to be made that Florida had already packed it in before McDavid got any points in game 4. Game 5 though, he was really good start to finish, and there's no debate that Florida was trying when he got any of those points.
